Since I am up a little early also, I'll go next:
Harry and I live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
I first went to DL in 1971 with my ex-husband at that time on our way to Europe and loved it. That was my first cruise also, as we came home from Eurpope on the Queen Elizabeth and it took us 3 weeks. It was fabulous.
I next started taking my children on Carnival cruises and would let each one of them take a friend on their birthdays and we did this every year for many, many years. Carnival is wonderful also. Today my youngest DD-31 cruises several times a year. For 2 years she worked for a large cruise line in Miami and cruised many times free. Two years her company sent her to Alaska for 2 weeks - so they could see the packages they sell - and they let me go free and that was an awesome trip and I'll never forget it.
My oldest DD-32 was born on the unofficial day that WDW was open, 10/25 and it is history from there. Have been so many times I lost count decades ago. We live less than 3 hours away and I would go each and every week just to go to DTD to walk around;
My DH is retired from the US post office. I have been a paralegal for 40+ years. In mid-2003 I became very sick with Lupus and my kidneys failed and I went on cobalt treatments (a new treatment - they said) for it. One day I just didn't show up for work and haven't been back since.
I ended up in the hospital and didn't come home permanently for a year. Was on life support for over 6 months. I have had 6 operations to repair a ventral hernia and had severe skin breakdown and would not heal. I had aleo-derm cadever skin grafts three times. My last operation was 11/04. I had several grand mall seizures during all of this also.
My medicals to date are over 2M $$'s and thank goodness insurance has paid a great deal of it.
I am healing today and am due to have another ventral hernia operation, which I am told will be the worse one yet.
SO, we have decided to take four cruises this year. Our Panama cruise is the first one and I intend to have a great time on all of them. It will be my blow-out year. Then the 3rd week in Nov. I'll schedule the operation, if something has not intervened and I have to do it before.
Back in 1972 I had a car accident and had my right foot severed from my leg. They did re-attach it but I have many problems now with it. My sickness has aggravted it and I now have to have the leg bone fused to the ankle bone. I will also schedudle that at the end of the year. I will be off my feet for 4 months and in a cast for four months. That will be a long healing process.
AND MY ATTITUDE towards life has changed drastically. I don't take things seriously anymore and just take it a little at the time.
I was an avid bowler before sickness and was going Pro, but I decided to stay home with my children as they were growing up. Great decision.
DH is in bowling also and on his retirement he was in charge of our local bowling association for 22 years. He now takes care of me and sees that I get to all my drs. apptms. each time they are scheduled.
We have been married for 7 years and he was a god send to me. We knew each other for over 30 years before we married. We were both alone for over 7 years before we married. His wife passed and I divorced my ex in 1990. We met through our bowling here locally.
In my real bad times my family comes to stay with us and helps out tremendously.
Well, I made it this far and intend on going the rest of the way.
I look forward to meeting all of you and have a dang good time. I might do it slowly, because I can't walk too well now, but I do it when I can.
WE ARE CRUSIN' IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS..........
I didn't proof read this so, if typos, please try and figure it out.
