I hope it's not too late to introduce ourselves. The first thing I should mention is that DH (Steve) and I (Marie) are both absolutely terrible remembering both names and faces. I hope you will be tolerant if you introduce yourselves at the sail-a-way party and we look totally clueless the next time we see you.

We both teach at universities. Steve is department head in psychology at Mississippi State University (typically good basketball but bad football teams). I'm up the road at a smaller regional university (Mississippi University for Women --- but yes, we accept smart men too) and teach in the speech-language pathology program. Steve grew up in Newport News, VA and I grew up in Philadelphia. We are both in our 50's and have a DD (Katie) who is 13 and a DS (Will) who is 9. The kids miss their last week at school (more technically their last 3 1/2 days) and the schools have been very accomodating letting Katie take exams early.

This is our second Disney cruise. We will be traveling with Steve's mom who has never taken a Disney cruise before and his daughter, Dora, who is a lawyer in New York. We have booked three category 11s and 3Dan, you are welcome to see what our cat 11 looks like. Last time we cruised, we booked a cat 6 and a cat 11. Even though it was nice to have the veranda, we thought the cat 11 was really nice too so decided to go with 3 cat 11s for the six of us for this cruise. We're really looking forward to the cruise. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

HI Marie! It is NEVER too late! Don't worry about remembering names..that's what the DIS lanyards we're giving you are for!! The names are nice and big and as long as everyone wears theirs... we'll know who we are. I especially need this in case I have too many adult beverages...:rotfl2:

Total darkness huh- still trying to get caught up on sleep after med school?

I would love to show you my category 7- if I had one.....

Robb and I are in a category 5....which I believe is the same size as a 7- but has a different verandah. I believe we are in one of the cat. 5's which is built for 4 people....we always request those incase my step son comes along.

If I had to be honest- YOU know I'd kill to see your cat. 3....thinking of something like that as a treat upon graduation from school. I also like the idea of treats being brought to my room without asking--let us know how you like the concierge service.

Well, we have a Cat 7 (5134) you are more than welcome to come see. :wizard:

We almost did a Cat 3, when my grandmother was talking about coming with us. But, she decided against it, and we didn't need the extra room. I've always wanted to try a Nav Verandah, so this was a good chance.

I really would like to see cat 8,9,10,11, and 12 also, anybody listening? I anticipate that in the future I will be staying in these categories. I tend to think that I would do very well without a window. I like the thought of total darkness.

Haven't seen anyone offering up a cat. 10, we will have 2 (2071, 2073) and you are more than welcome to snoop through. A fair warning there will be 4 maybe 5 kids (dd9 has her best friend on the cruise too and I don't think we will be able to seperate them) sharing one room, (Dan and I don't want to share ours) so things in there might get a bit scarey.

See you soon, Christine

Maybe we should have a DIS field trip! We'll march up and down all the decks single file and check out all the various staterooms. We can wear our matching shirts, our golden mickey ears, our name badges/lanyards, and everything we own in the color of lime green. Or we could do it on pirate night in our pirate costumes! Wouldn't we be a sight to behold! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oooh!!!!!!!! :jumping1:

Let's all go trick or treating! So what if we are only 5.5 months early, and all too old! It's our very own version of MNSSHP!

Since we're all going to be eating so much during the cruise, what if we do REVERSE trick-or-treating? Knock on doors and leave our leftovers for people who show us their staterooms! We'll get some exercise and reduce our calorie intake!

3DAN- We are in a cat 9...2086 if you would like to come and look... :flower:

Kay-I don't drink either...But I rather enjoy watching others make fools of themselves...usually get some good blackmail material... :smooth:

Christine tells me that there are a lot of experts in the field of digital photography on this thread, so I have come looking for advice.

My digital camera is 4 years old and my analog video camera is even older. I'm hoping to replace both with one digital video camera. I know that most digital video cameras will take digital stills but I have a few concerns about that:

1. Can you get a good enough resolution (3 megapixel or better) to print a good quality 8x10? (we never print bigger than that)
2. I would want something that stores the digital pictures on a separate flash card for ease of downloading and printing.
3. I would want to be able to just point and shoot to take a picture without having to go through a bunch of menu options to get to "still picture" mode.

Any input that you can give me on models of video cameras and their capabilities would be very much appreciated.

TIA Dan

Well, Sam's Club Travel just called to tell me that someone needs to be home tomorrow morning to sign for a FedEx package!!! Our docs are on their way!!!! I can't wait to have a Mickey bar in bed :mickeybar

I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Tina, DH is Pat, and we're traveling with our two boys Prescott (turning 5 onboard) and Connor (18 months), Uncle Dave and Aunt Karen (godparents) and Grandma and Grandpa. We usually book Category 9, have done Category 5, and this time we splurged for Category 4. We think the extra room with 2 kids will be nice as well as the verandah for going through the Canal. Plus we're two doors down from the Roy Disney suite, so we're hoping for a peek as we walk by!

We've been on 8 other Disney cruises (I miss CM rates..sigh) but I'm so excited about this one I may need to pack a paper bag to breathe into.

Good Morning!
Bill: I will trade you a look at my lifeboat suite for a look at your Cat 3 :rotfl: Seriously.. we'll probably end up with the Cat 12 so if you want to take a look at a steerage room we'll be happy to oblige! I would love to see anything above a Cat 9 which is as far as we've gone. I actually love the inside rooms because I love complete darkness to sleep. :faint: plus.. it's always just DH and I so we really don't need the extra room, although if they want to upgrade us we won't complain...:cool1:

Thanks, Leslie. You have a deal. I don't plan on getting high cat rooms forever. Just not that interested. This cruise is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Just let me know a good time.
Bill

I stopped and picked up some cool shirts today for the cruise. The Local Fraternal Order of Police here in Chicago have a line of Polo Shirts with Mickey as a Chicago Policeman embroidered on them (before anyone comments, Mickey does not carry a gun). They also have a T-shirt with Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Pluto all as Policemen. Really cool looking, so another shirt or two to pack for the cruise. Plus they actually have Disney Tags on them to authenticate them.

:cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

Celeste, the recurrent theme is I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
How else will we ever know what the rooms look like. It's not like I'm going to rent one of each kind until i've done them all. Just tell me when and come on over. I 've never seen a cat. 3 yet either , except pictures on this board.
Bill :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Hmm, in that case I'll trade you 8048 for your 8034. Same category room, I'm *sure* they're identical ;).

That is one of the things I want to do for sure. I haven't found many pics of the cat 3 room that we have, but founds LOTS of 8034 and the like. So I want to be sure to get some pics to put out there.
