On a 14 day cruise, I'm figuring I'll have to do laundry. I can't pack enough clean clothes to support all of our costume changes. Dinner, semi-formal nights, formal nights, on ship, off ship -- my head is swimming. Some stuff will be sent out, but most of it I'll have to do myself. Thank goodness for insomnia where I can do laundry at 2:00 am.

Tide used to make Laundry Tablets. I have learned that those have been discontinued. :( I was so hoping to buy a box and throw a bunch in our luggage. Since P&G is being so rude, I have purchased a bunch of snack-sized zipper bags. I'll just make up a bunch of these baggies, add a pack of dryer sheets and two rolls of quarters I'm all set.

However, if someone is dying to find laundry tablets, I did find some. A company called Quixtar (similar to Amway I'm gathering, but you can buy directly from their website) sells laundry tablets. 96 tablets is right around $36. If you don't find it by doing a Google search, send me a PM, and I'll send you the link. But if you get to their website, laundry is under the "Home" section.

If anyone can provide me with a better solution, I'm open to options.

Randall

:earsboy:

I used the tide tablets on my last cruise and was not very impressed. They didn't disolve quickly enough. But, I did find a different brand -- cheap at the junky grocery store this time. I still my end up bring a small box or bottle of Tide. I guess that would be a good thing to mail ahead of time. I'm thinking of stuff to ship in the box ahead of time. Can anyone add to the LIST?

laundry detergent
dryer sheets (if necessary)
sunscreen
...

Happy Birthday Kelli,

Randal, I have learned that the Tide Tablets are available in Canada. Maybe we could have Elaine bring some across the border, no never mind I think they have a look out for her. I will probably see you there late at night doing our laundry. Maybe we could start a DIS laundry service and pay for the cruise, no never mind, bad idea.

Tom, I have a funny feeling that my book is at the Post Office, got the package slip, and I will not be able to get to it until next week. I am also traveling all next week leaving at 5:00 AM tomorrow. Lynn can have a head start on it.

SCUBA class all afternoon, and temps are at 47. Cloudy and grey.

Information on STS-114

As I posted earlier, Joe and I were there on Feb 1st 2003 waiting for the Columbia STS-107 mission to land, so ,the upcoming launch of STS-114 kinda has an emotional tug to our hearts. :goodvibes I found there is merchandise available for the STS-114 (We got some pins). Here is the info should anyone be interested.

www.thespacestore.com (the Nasa Store) and www.countdowncreations.com

The Nasa site show the launching window from May 15 to June 3rd, 2005. I'm hoping we'll be able to see something if the launch is on the 15th. :flower:

Hey Scott....that's not very nice :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Just because I get pulled over and the car gets a full search....first time in I don't how many trips to the US (we only live 35 minutes from the border so we go often).

I will look to see if we have the Tide laundry tabs here. I know we have a box of the tablets that we only use when we travel but I think we bought it in the US (goes gets box and looks at box...) yup purchased in the US no french on the box. It does say that it's made in Canada (I wonder if it's like Red Rose Tea...only in Canada ya know.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ). I will send my slave...opps I mean my Mom over to the "big" grocery store by our house tomorrow and will report back if we have the Tide laundry tablets here in Canada. If this store doesn't carry it then it's not available here.

Randall, I'm surprised to hear about your troubles contacting P&G. My uncle used to work for them (he's now retired) and P&G's processing plant was located right here in my city until about 5 - 10 years ago when they moved to somewhere near Ottawa.

I'm not sure I'd be willing to carry little baggies of laundry detergent on a plane....who knows what the customs people might think....

Elaine

Good afternoon everyone! :wizard:
Question for anyone who has tried the internet service on the ship. Does it have direct access to AOL or do you have to sign into AOL.com?

Also... did someone report the price for the unlimited service for our cruise? I can't remember.
Have always tried to do without it.. but the kennel has email so I'm thinking about it just to be able to check on the babies...LOL

Robin: Where in Wal-Mart did you find Airborne? The one person I asked today had never heard of it. She was too busy talking with friends though so I don't think customer service was first on her mind....

I looked around the vitamins and also around the cold remedies.. all I found was something called "Emer gen C" seemed similar.. and came in Lemon-Lime, Tangerine and Raspberry. Hmmmm more flavor choices.. but will it work as well??

Hi Leslie :wave2: I found the airborne in the cold isle very near the cold ease. The had it in an obscure place, and only one flavor though. I don't think it is such a hot seller here. I will give it a shot and see how my stomach handles it. I'm flying in a couple of weeks, so I will test it out. I hear you loud and clear about the Walmart employees, don't even get me started :sad2:

I remember reading that the unlimited internet would be about double the 7, so about $180.00. That is what my rebooking shipboard credit is going to. I use it to kind of journal my trip while fresh in my mind, and of course my DD could not survive without it. Last trip, I loved going into the cove cafe late at night and having one of those fancy coffees every night, sitting at the computer. Nice end to my day. I can't answer the question about AOL, as I don't have it. But I do know you can get onto AIM, my DD lifeline :rotfl2:

On the DCL site it lists the 14 day unlimited Internet at $179.99. I actually won the unlimited internet on our 4 day Wonder cruise in November. I can't answer your question about access to AOL as we don't have AOL in Canada.

Elaine

LESLIE:

Yes, you can access AOL from the ship. I have used it quite a few times onboard.

Thanks everyone who answered my DCL internet questions. Looks like some of my Disney Visa Reward $$$ will be going for that luxury. Gotta keep tabs on the babies... LOL... not worried about my HUMAN children.. only the dogs!
Gotta keep up with my online pin trading too... Looks like I'll be spending a lot more time at the Cove Cafe ...

ROBIN: Thanks for the info.. I'll do a closer search my next visit. We have several Wal-Marts in the area.. one of them must have it.

PIN TRADING MEET: Trying to figure out when we can have our pin trading meet. It's kind of hard to plan not knowing what will be happening onboard. I think I will just leave a message on everyone's FISH once we see what's going on when. Everyone who wants to participate please make sure I have your name and stateroom number. I'm leaning towards Saturday 5/21.. sometime in the afternoon (while DH takes his nap...LOL) I've had good response to the idea of a "mystery swap" .. so bring a LE 1500 (or less) Disney pin if you want to participate in that... no obligation though. I have a few other things planned too so we'll have some fun activities along with the trading. :earsboy:

Hi Leslie,

I would love to be added to the pin trading get together and the pin swap. I would be glad to bring my pin bag since people want to trade... Reservation is under Bettemom ( but this is Kim) . As far as cabin #, we are on deck 4 3rd & 4th chaise lounge from the forward elevators. ( as you can see we still do not have a cabin assigned).

Bye, Kim

Kim I already have you on my list... don't worry.. Right now I'm in a life boat suite next to Scott ... better keep it down out there on those deck chairs!! :rotfl2: We'll have to hang out a little Disney bag for our mail since we won't have a FISH.....
I guess I can probably rely on Linda's DIS Navigator for the last minute stateroom numbers!! I'll find all y'all somehow!! No pressure Linda....LOL
No excursion booklet, no stateroom, no coconut, but they have ALL my money!!! :confused3

Look forward to an education in his music whilst on the cruise. We go to Old key west every year so probably have heard a lot of his music without realising.

Don't forget the grass skirt and the flip flops. :)

Everyone on the master list is entitled to a door magnet. You are entitled to one per room (And we'll make an occasional exception for rooms with multiple non related disboarder's in the same room). *IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE MASTER LIST, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A MAGNET*. Sorry to be tough, but if you don't want to play with us, you don't get the benefits.

Magnets are free. They don't cost anything. The design is shown here -> http://www.tiggerfan.net/canal/door2.html

The name line and the location line are customizable, but limited to family names (First and/or last), Disboard names, and hometowns.

At this time, I am taking the information for people whose disboard names start with the letters A-F. When your magnet is complete I will place an asterisk next to your name on the master list. If your disboard name doesn't start with an A-F, please sit tight. The next letters will be called soon.

Send your information to monorailpilot@gmail.com

I have printed every magnet for people that have sent me info so far, except for brisully, Linda and Kenneth (I had questions and I sent you e-mails back). If you sent me an e-mail and aren't one of those people and you don't have an asterisk on the master list, please send me another note to check the master stack (odds are I missed putting the asterisk in and have the magnet, but I need to make sure so no one is missed).

Again, if the first name on your master list disboard column starts with the letters A-F (or a number) now is the time to email me. Otherwise, please standby.

Kim, I really hope that if any of us receive an upgrade, it is you! :goodvibes (sorry Scott and your dream of the CAT 1)

I know nothing at all about pin trading. I just buy the few that I have because I like them.

Goodnight everyone,
Kim
