20050514..May 14, 2005...Official Check in Disney's 1st 14 Day thru Panama Canal Part 2

OK - We've been talking about the wine tasting party for a while now. It appears that lots of people are interested. If we need someone to spearhead this adventure, I (along with DW Shari) will be happy to take on the responsibility. We will continue to collect names of interested people and at the same time contact DCL and make some arrangements for space and munchies.

I'm thinking that Monday (the first sea day) at 4:00pm would be a good time to hold this party. Any other suggestions? It seems like a good time and it's early in the cruise so everyone can continue to put faces with names.

If anyone else would like to take on this project, it's fine with me. But I think it's time for someone to step up and take charge!! (just kidding, but we will be happy to do it)

So, do you still need a cat 3 person to get sessions or can just anyone do it? I am more than happy to make the reservation for the group if need be. Anyone know??

Michelle aka NEM

Anyone can do it! :)

I've taken some advice from the famous Stacey of the 10 day Xmas cruise and am trying to make contact with a disney rep about the wine party. We will see how it goes.

MICKEY&JOSHNUT - I think there are a lot of people extending their vacation at DL, and staying at the Grand Californian Hotel. We are excited and are planning to fill up every second with fun things to do!

As far as excursions and prepaying... we booked the cruise with Dreams Unlimited. Their policy is we must pay in full before booking excursions. THis may not be the case if you booked directly with DCL, but for us, I want to pay up at least a week before 2/14 so Dreams can note that we've paid, and forward that info to DCL, so when we book our excursions there will be no confusion.

I just printed out all the excursions listed on the Dreams site... choices, choices!

I think the fax lines and the phone lines will be humming on Valentines Day. For the amount of $$$ spent and the first cruise of this type for Disney, I think there will be some serious cruisers on board. Perhaps they won't want to do excursions, but, if they do, I don't think they'll be waiting to book. If there's something you may want to do, I would book it as soon as possible, and not wait for those reserved for check-in.

Back to work! :badpc:

Ken, thanks for picking up the lead with the on board wine meet. The time sounds good to me.

I know I am going to forget Valentines day, 2/14, while on our trip. Will have to remember to put a valentine for Lynn in my sea bag. Note to self.....

I am getting geared up for the CC snorkel event. I got a drybag for my GPS so when we find the wreck I can get some solid data. Might even try to track our route. This could be interesting.

Better get ready for work,

I am sure a bunch of you have noticed that several of us are on both the 5/14 Panama Canal Cruise and the DVC Member Cruise. I think this is KEWL!!!!!!!

Ken, let me know if you need help. I have a running list of about 40 people so far. Sorry I didn't jump in sooner, got home and just couldn't face the computer last night. I feel bad now...I am more than happy to work on this since I'm the one that brought up the wine party for this group. Just let me know.

Quiet group today. I guess everyone is planning their attack on the excursion desk.

Yes, I noticed you over on that board Scott. I've just been lurking occasionally. Got to keep my priorities straight. I am sure Mary and Mark are keeping it going strong though, so I figure if I need something critical she will PM me about it!

Don "Ducky" Williams is going to be on that cruise also and is doing another special litho from what he was saying. That will give me 3 limited litho's in less than one year. If I keep it up I am going to have to devote a room in our house for his artwork!

June 1 I can focus on that thread!

Hi Kara

If you want to bring that list along this weekend or E-mail it to me, I will be happy to keep it updated. Or you can take on that part of the project and I will work on the location and food. Teamwork is a good thing. :hyper2:

Hi all!

Just dropping back in to tell you a little bit about us. Ron and I are from PA, outside of Philadelphia. He works for the Dept of Agriculture and I work for a pharmaceutical company. We’ve been DVC members since 1997, at OKW and VWL. This will be our third DCL cruise, did a 3 day in 98 and a 4 day in 2000. We’ve been married 28 years, no kids, and just renewed our vows at Disney World last May, which was a blast! I am really looking forward to this cruise. Since we are traveling alone, it will be nice to have some “friends” to talk to! We’d definitely love to join the wine tasting! Can’t wait to meet you all!

We do have a room devoted to Don "Ducky" Williams artwoork along with a few other things we have collected from our many Disney Cruises. We are almost out of wall space! Alex

Bonzie1 - we also are extending our trip to include a stay at the Grand Californian Hotel. Originally we were planning on 2 nights but decided last night to extend it to 3 nights. I'm so excited, I can't wait.

Since I'm relatively new to this cruise & forum (it's taking some time to catch up on the previous 175 pages!!) but I'm assuming there are going to be a few of us extending our vacations at Disneyland. How many people are going to Disneyland after and are you getting a Disney shuttle to the Resorts?

Cash and I will be taking the DCL shuttle from the port to the GC but, as we're staying at the Tropicana for 10 days following the cruise, I'll have to schlep my bags from the GC to the Tropicana somehow because the DCL shuttle doesn't go to the Good Neighbor resorts... This is going to be SUCH fun...and I get to see my family in So. California as well.....

Hi Lynda

Good point. My guess is that it has seating for about 70, but I will check on that when I hear from the DCL people.

Hey Ken,

Your right on that account. DH and I were reviewing all the options last night. It is tough because there is not a lot for DD (4) to do. We may opt to have her stay in the club for one port while we hit one of the interesting Adult activities.

I am looking forward to getting all the details!
