On the subject of sickness:I plan to take several packages of "Airborne" on the cruise. Has anyone else tried this stuff? It was developed by a :teacher: who was tired of getting sick from her students. Its like an orange or lemon-lime alka seltzer, and its packed with vitamins and minerals to jump start your immune system. I even talked a guy at work into trying it, and he's very "anti-drugs" of any kind. He was impressed.
Kelli

Airborne! I wish I had invented it, then I could cruise whenever I wanted to! :rotfl2: It is TREMENDOUSLY popular. Our drugstore never has it in stock. Before Oprah had the inventor on her show, it was a bit easier to get!

We've been using this, and I must say that just last week I do feel I was helped by taking this product at the first sign of getting a cold. I sldo plan on bringing some with me. Once I caught whatever bug was around, I had to let it go the course, but I've found this stuff to be good for me! :goodvibes The orange is much better tasting than the lime!

Okay, I'm glad you just haven't added your group! I still don't know what to do in Mazatlan beside of course shop and drink. I'm pondering doing the Stone Island ala kart, but will have to do some more reading on how? Last thing I would need is to be stranded in Mexico! LOL

Robin

Robin,

They will tram us over from the ship to the cruise terminal in Mazatlan....from there it is a short 3 block walk to the water ferry to take you to stone island. The ferry costs $1 a person. On the main cruise line forum there is a link with frank from mazatlan....he will answer ANY question you might have on this port.

Denise

I love this stuff!!!!

I have yet to get sick....everytime I thought I could feel the crud coming I would drink it and :wizard: no sickness!!!! I must say...it's tastes nasty but if it keeps me from getting sick....so be it.

Now if I could just find an allergy medicine that worked :sad2:

(I am doing research for the DL part of the trip. We have not been there since I was 7 years old.

Since we are taking the red eye home on Monday night, we have a bit more time than we thought.

How is the Blue Bayou restaurant.... I have "heard" many good things about it.

Debbie)

Hi Debbie,
I saw this posted a few days backs and wanted to add my 2 cents about Blue Bayou!

My husband and I love it and we try to go everytime we go to Disneyland. I would reccomend trying their famous Monte Cristo sandwich it is to die for! And it is actually big enough for my husband and I to share. I would also make sure you make reservations in advance and if you go for lunch the prices are much more reasonable than dinner. :cool1:
******************************************************

On a side note my husband and I just got back from a quick trip to Disneyland/Knotts Berry Farm and we were able to try out the new buzz lightyear ride it was so much fun! Very different from the one in Florida. So for those of you going after the cruise make sure to try it out :flower:

The only time I ate at Blue Bayou was 12 years ago when I was a teenager...the fish on my plate had bones and a face. I was not happy! It was free so no complaints--we won a trip to Disneyland! :) I will have to check out a couple of restaurants while we are there, not planning to go much beyond the park areas for that weekend so I will want more than counter service at some point.

My favorites, though casual, are the Bengal Barbaque (bacon wrapped asparagus) and the Boudin place over in DCA where they have soup, salad, or breakfast in a bread bowl. Everything goes better in a bread bowl. :teeth: The Mexican food across from Boudin is decent too, and the margarita place there is EXCELLENT.

I suggest a midday margarita. It's worth the walk from one park to another, even if that's the only purpose. Makes the rest of the day soooooo much better!

I agree, Kay! I think you've had more than enough of that stuff.....need to tell the doc we can't be having you sick!!! :wizard: Gotta knock that stuff out now!!

Directions say to take it every 3 hours as necessary, but very seldom do I use it that often. I usually take it before bed, in the morning, or before I get on the plane or go into a crowd. :crowded: I find it here at Walgreen's, WalMart, and a local pharmacy, but most places its hit or miss when they have it in stock because its so popular. The pharmacies usually charge $7.99 for 10 tablets, WalMart is a little cheaper, but WalMart so inconvenient to get to, I get it other places.

Kelli

Right now it is hard to find any Airborne in stock-it leaves the shelves as soon as they put it out. We have had some good effects with Zicam which can be taken as a tablet or a nasal spray. Tablets are not fizzy. Alex

Jeff is a DDR (dance dance revolution) master. If you're familiar with it, he can do supercal on 8 stars...

Hi all. Finally caught up from the weekend.

For those of you with a Trader Joes, they also carry Airborne. I just picked up two boxes of it for this trip. And we also have some of the Zycam nasal swabs, which are newer, I think. DH just tried them last week when he thought he was coming down with something. Just a couple of uses and suddenly he wasn't feeling sick anymore. I'm bringing both just in case!

Bill, DCL may have a DDR in Stacks already. I'm not sure why I think this, but I could have sworn I saw that on one of the Travel Channel specials or on DCLs DVD or somewhere... :confused3

Lynda, you're amazing! Truely a Queen of finding the deals!

Okay, it may be time for another LIST!:cheer2:

Calling all Rotary Club Members! My father is in Rotary and mentioned the other day that he will be missing three weeks worth of meetings for this trip. He was curious to know if there were other Rotary Club members cruising with us. If there are, he suggested holding a meeting or two on the ship to make up for the missed meetings with your local chapters.

I will be happy to coordinate this effort if there is interest. PM me if you're interested.

Peter, can you add this to your daily updated too? Thanks!

Does Pal ::MickeyMo work in Disney Land?

Okay... let me rephrase; does he provide schedule updates and informative info, NOT "work" at the Haunted Massion!

Thought I would qualify the statement prior...

Prior to me finding it and posting some smart remark about Mickey grilling hamburgers or something. Somehow you knew I'd do that.

Drat.

I called DCL today to see if I had a stateroom assigned -- no dice. :(

But I did learn these fun tidbits of information.

Attire
There will be two (2) formal and two (2) semi formal evenings. There will be one (1) pirate/tropical nights. I guess that leaves nine (9) "cruise casual" nights were jeans are allowed in the dining rooms (don't even get me started!)

Food
There are plans to introduce new lunch and dinner menus so that no menu will be repeated during the course of the sailing. :Pinkbounc

And from what the agent said there is also a new production show to be offered. She didn't have any specifics other than that.

Randall

:earsboy:

What's "1 pirate/tropical night" supposed to mean? Can you go pirate OR tropical? Have they not decided whether it will be pirate or tropical yet? Or are they looking for tropical pirates? or is it one pirate night and one tropical night?

So am I reading this correctly that there will be one COMBINED pirate/tropical night? Or will there be a pirate night AND a tropical night? And it looks like they've increased the number of semi-formal nights to two instead of one? My head is spinning . . .

I'm sorry, I'm not sure. My notes are pretty fuzzy and she rattled the stuff off so fast. I was caught off guard. I didn't expect to be hearing about formal/semi-formal/pirate attire. And I had to wrap up the conversation before I get the chance to inquire.

Um...hate to say it, but you're best bet here is to pack for what you want to participate in, not for what DCL's flavor of the day is. Otherwise, you may just go stark raving..well...mad trying to figure this conundrum out.

Those of us on the 10-day holiday cruise will tell you that from day to day, DCL could not keep their story straight as to how many formal and semi-formal nights we would have. We ended up with two formal and one semi-formal, but most people were not expecting that. Personally, we're packing for two formal and two semi-formal. I figure why not? If nothing else, I can wear one of the outfits to Palo.

As for the Pirate/tropical, I'm guessing they mean one of each. They did one of each on the 10-night. I can't imagine they would suddenly combine them for a longer cruise...but then again? :rotfl2:

No worries, Mon! That's my motto this time around. :rolleyes1

Kara,

I bought two boxes of Airborne at Trader Joes a couple of weeks ago! Everytime I checked at Long's it was an empty shelf.

Scott, Airborne also comes in a chewy/gummy lozenge, no fizz there!
