I'm sorry I mentioned Southwest - it won't happen again.

We like Sw. at least they did not cancel the Flight 70 days out..(Jet Blue)
Rather go with Sw. and not have a seat. BUT, A Boarding card..

A tour it is! I guess before deciding on the specific tour, I'll look into getting the hotel. I think we plan to stay one night in LA and the second night near the LAX airport. I don't think any of us have been to LA before so we're pretty clueless.

Just a warning. If you are staying the second night near the LAX airport, just be aware that it IS NOT an area where you will go out at night and even take a walk. If you are staying in a hotel, you would be in the hotel once you arrived. There aren't any places that I would go to without leaving in my own car (rental or otherwise).

I would also stay in a place that you are familiar with (i.e. brand name hotel)

People complain about Southwest and their seating policies, but you still get up to 3 checked bags per person with a 50 lb weight limit per bag. We use 26 inch roller bags and when they are full they weigh about 40 lbs.

Ken
Ooooh! Ken, you are my hero! I totally forgot that SW has the three-bag policy! We will definintely be checking three smaller bags so we can stay under the weight limit. Boy, did we have issues at MCO when checking back in to fly home from the 10-day trip...Good thing DH is had his gold status on American at the time. The ticketing agent was being a real witch about the weight of our suitcases (one was 51 lbs and the other was 55). She wanted to charge us overages on both. I argued with her while we repacked in the middle of the ticketing counter. We just couldn't get one under 52, so she said she was going to charge us. At that point, DH asked for her name and low and behold, somehow we never got charged. Still not sure if it was because of DH's gold status or because she knew we were about to file a complaint about her attitude SEVERLY lacking in customer service skills.

Anyhoo, we're flying SW, so three bags a person it is!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yep, I'm a Gold Medallion on Delta, so the Sky Caps don't seem to care when I am over. In fact, the one time he even said, oh medallions can go to 60 lbs. So who really knows. I pack all the lighter stuff in the biggest bags and the heavier stuff in the smaller ones. And I figure, if I can't pack it, I'll just buy it while I am there!

Another thing, now that I don't bring on my own Diet Coke, it has freed up a lot of space (and weight) in my carry on!

:rotfl2: Okay, oops! I guess I blew that out of the water!

Anyway, I tend to agree with Jen, but Jet Blue would make me fly from San Jose to NY before I can get to MCO, which takes several hours longer than what I got with SW. And Song doesn't fly out of the San Jose airport, so SW it is. I'm crossing my fingers to be quite honest, because we haven't flown them in about 5 years...Here's hoping! :wizard:

meb51: sightseeing is a great idea. Most of the tours initially originate at the Chinese Theatre. There are quite a few vendors you can choose from. We took one in October when we were there and choose to go with one of the vendors that had a smaller bus that seated approx. 12 people instead of a Greyhound bus. It was about a 4 hour tour and took us up into the hills and all over LA including the stars homes. They picked us up at our hotel and took us back to the hotel.
You can't go wrong with one the sightseeing tours.

Kay

We're staying a few extra days at Disneyland and we'd love to do a sightseeing tour of LA and maybe see some of the stars home. I'm trying pack as much into our time in LA as I can.

Any information that you (or anyone else) would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone seen Juli lately? She is listed in the same stateroom as I am! On Jenn's master list, we have the same stateroom. I checked my documents from DCL and they show 6034.

I wonder if Juli has cancelled....

(Bummer, too... she has kids the same age as mine!)

Hi Sandra! First of all, thanks for offering to keep a list for us, I will be pm'ing the info soon. Also, Juli is still with us. I received her pin payment, she must just be busy.

Tried to send a private message to Tink33 regarding the daily exercising plans, but got an error message that messages were either not accepted or couldn't be delivered. So, here goes the broadcast:

Hello!
On the Jan 15 Cruise this year, I actually lost 8 pounds on the cruise thanks to Norwalks and then a bout of Gall Bladder, so I'm thinking:
hummmm, Overindulgence is not such a good thing. LOL :sad2:
I'm very overweight, but do walking. :teleport: I would love to join up with my fellow travellers to do walking in the AM and PM. Please add me to the list and keep me advised to events.

Thanks ever so much for arranging this. Folks like me need it.

Hugs,

Margaret
:cat:

Thanks Margaret, another pooh size cruiser here, we can walk together if you like?

Also, a 2nd calling out for TINK33 I need to get the pin payment information to you somehow. Please check in with me.....

Thank you to everyone who has sent the payments to me, I have sent you a confirmation of receipt via PM. However we are nearing the cutoff for me receiving the payments, and there are still 23 people who I still have not received payments from. If your payment has not yet been mailed, please do so by the end of this week, as I need to have them by March 11th the latest. Thanks to everyone! :flower3:

I have to agree about Southwest. 3 bags. 50# each. Best for us was the $161 fare. That was for Indy to Orlando then LAX to Indy. Both Non-stop!
We were going to do ATA, but with their cutbacks and all, it wouldn't have worked as well.....and not as cheap.

Oh Linda, I am so sorry and feel so bad. It's almost like I am at fault. I did get the shipping confirmation email with a tracking number and the phones are expected to arrive on March 7th. Maybe once the CEO gets your letter, you might get a refund or something like that for all your trouble?
Robin
Just got our 'tracking' e-mail today. The phones were in Fort Worth last night, but today? Who knows. UPS wasn't saying. :rotfl:

Hey Bob, my phones left Fort Worth on March 1st at 4:25am, with UPS ground, I won't see them updated online until they arrive in Norwalk hub, hopefully on the 7th!

Sorry Peter about your thing with Jet Blue, that sucks big time! They did change my flights, I leave New York 5 minutes earlier, and leave Long Beach 20 minutes earlier. Not a big deal at all for me. Jet Blue allows 3 checked bags at 70 pounds each! I'm all set, but.....don't know how we are going to manage that much! :rotfl:

They claim that the phones will be here friday. But if the phones move like their website, it might be next month!:rotfl:

We are going to stay on board for the first West Coast cruise so we are packing for 21 days. I found a good price on Continental first class, and we are allowed three checked bags up to 70 lbs each so I think we are covered. only problem is DCL only gives us 2 tags each for checking in luggage at the port, which means dragging a bunch onboard (along with wine for 21 days).

The porters at the DCL terminal will give you as many extra tags as you need. Joe and I checked 6 bags on the Xmas cruise.
