Finally 2005 is online so I peeked for March 2005. The same week as 2004 is over $3300 more!! For 2 category 10 rooms, the toal was over $7350! That is not even holiday or summer pricing! For all of us in one room, the total was over $9000. We booked for 2002 and 2004 for around $4K. That makes the decision of whether to do Disney or RCCL all the easier. I hate to say it, but with pricing like that, that is so far out of the range of what I would consider to be comparable lines, I won't be a DCL supporter anymore. It is one thing to be a little more expensive. It is quite another to be outrageous.

That's quite a discrepancy. Easter 2005 is on March 27, so if you're getting a quote for that week or the week before, that might have something to do with it. Easter 2004 is April 11.

I think that you have a good point about comparable lines, though. Since DCL doesn't have the capacity of RCCL 2 (2 ships vs. probably 14 or 15), they don't have as much problem filling them. They are fast pricing themselves out of my business as well, but the market sets the price, and why would they charge $100 for something that people will pay $200 for? They are, after all, in business to make a profit.

Depending on the time of year, I can do two cruises on other lines for the price of one DCL cruise in comparable accomodations. I do prefer DCL to RCCL, HAL or Princess, but I've been spreading my money around more for the past couple of years. In 2000 and 2001, we sailed almost exclusively on DCL.

Good point, Lloyd. Here's the pricing I got when getting quote for Easter 2004, 2 adults, 2 kids (15 & 11):
Cat. 5 $8,707
Cat. 6 $8,507

Here's Easter 2005, same passengers:
Cat. 5 $7,527
Cat. 6 $7,327

Now the difference in price here could have something to do with the early booking savings.

Easter! That's it! I just assumed it was in April. I was looking at the week March 19-26. Our spring break is always in March...it isn't tied to Easter. Looks like they will coincide that year.

Yep... Thats when or Spring Break is too.... STINKS doesnt it.... My dad wants to go to the Western.... but it doesnt fall on any of the good dates! BLAH!

If you get Presidents week in February, the price for that week is amazingly low considering its a holiday week. But its going Western and after August (when I'll be Western) I just have to go Eastern next time.
