Jim there's something wierd going on in the pc you're posting from. When you quote, links show up in the quoted part.

Everyone: DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINKS in his quote!!!!!!!!!

Three things.

First: Do you have an active virus scanner? If not, run this: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Then my two favorites in combination to kill spyware:

Ad Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

And Spybot: http://security.kolla.de/

Jim this trip is just Vanessa & I and her 17 team mates and 15 parents. (& I don't dive)
I think Garry & gregg may try to come down the week of Feb 20th.

I'll be down there at the end of that week!!

Well, people...here's where it stands. After the frustrated email to the breeder, she called tonight. We had a long talk. There are still options for Maggie. Something with me is triggering her b/c it's ONLY with me. She's going to talk to some animal behavorists and get back with me or have them get with me. This, apparently, is "fixable." She also said it may mean her coming down here to observe (ala Supernanny) to see what's going on. But...of course, she said she'd gladly accept Maggie back if that is in fact what we decide to do and would replace her with a puppy from her next litter. :rotfl2: Yeah, like I even want to go through THAT again.

So Maggie has gotten a reprieve for now. She's been delightful this evening (except for when she peed in our bedroom!) She goes to the kennel tomorrow AM in prep for our ski trip in NY this next week.

Thanks all for your support. I know you'll all PM each other and talk about how nuts I am for keeping her. I can handle that. ;) :sad2:

End of which week? Like the 24th Too bad you won't be there the 11-15th you could watch us :cheer2:

I actually fly in very late on Thursday the 24th. Will be at the Scubas until April 30th, when I get on the Magic. ;)

actually, will probably be at the Scubas until Sunday/Monday sometime. then over to Grandma Lightbulb's.

Speaking of Grandma Lightbulb....she went to the gyn/onc today. He says it's 50-50 if it's malignant. Will do surgery Feb 7th and will do pathology tests on the various sections of it. If it's not cancer, it all comes out and she goes on her way. If it is, he needs to open her up farther (like to her breast bone) and take out all connected parts and lymph nodes and the likes. Leaving no stone unturned...he'll search it all. Then it will be the whole chemo route, but I guess we can't worry about that until we find out what we're dealing with.

Thanks for all of the prayers!

Karen - here's hoping it is the good 50% for Grandma Lightbulb! Know I'm here if you need to talk.

As for Maggie - I hope it all works out no matter what happens. If it was me I think I would have insisted that they take her back but you must have more patience than me (guess that is why we never got a dog). :upsidedow

Thanks for letting me know it is coming through the quotes.

Yes, there has been something weird happening. I run Norton Internet 2005, current definitions, but for some reason something has gotten in.

I was going to try and get some sleep, but I'll work on it right now. Don't want to cause any problems to my fellow DISers.

A very quick hello and off to bed. I will hopefully sign in tomorrow night from frigid Nebraska. I can tell you guys feel sorry for me.

Sharon called tonight and the news is bad. Ken has a cancerous tumor in the frontal lobe. Inoperable. They will transfer him to Barrow Neurological Institute and give him steroids and chemo. They are hoping that he will have 5 to 7 years.

We had a strange accident in the house...a shelf fell for no apparent reason..in the bathroom...fell out of the medincine cabinet...landed on my things waiting to be packed. Broke perfume bottles, nail polish.....took me forever to clean it up.

Today has been a long week.

'Night all.....see you in the snow!

Stacey,

So Sorry to hear this news - I will keep Sharon and Ken in my prayers :grouphug: Aslo I know this is a very hard thing to do - but keep thinking positive - and please encourage your friends to do that also. Several years ago, my grandmother was told that she had throat cancer and had 6months to a year to live - she was 70 years old. Well, she didn't agree with them and took herself to her chemo treatment at the Dana Farber here in Boston. Mind you she didn't tell anyone in the family! After having several treatments - she had a bad reaction to one and they went downstairs to look for my mother - you see my grandmother told everyone that her daughter was downstairs waiting for her when the truth was she was driving herself home! Well, any way they called my mother only to find out none of us knew. Long story short - we kept the postive thinking up for that was what my grandmother was all about and after 6 years she was cancer free! She passed away at 82 from a heart attack and was cancer free for 6 years!!! And I truly believe it was all of the prayers and the positive thinking.

So think good things and good things will happen!!!

Have a safe trip and have fun rehabing with your Mom!

To answer Sue's question(and others), most virus scanners do not effectively block what is termed as 'spyware' and even if they claim to, they are not as on top of it as the two progams I linked a few pages back.

If you do not have a program that is dedicated to removing spyware only, I would recommend at minimum getting Spybot, and after doing a 'check for problems', also go to the immunize page, select 'block all pages silently' from the pulldown and click the immunize button at the top. This will actively stop them from getting in.

Morning all. Karen, boy you're a good person to keep on trying with everything that's on your plate. But I have to say I was a little confused when you said you're staying at the scubas until April 30th???? Did I read that wrong? I know KT and Lisa are good buddies, but man, that's some close friendship!

This is going to be my catch up weekend. House cleaning, and getting things ready for a girl scout weekend next weekend. I'm going to have them sleep over on Friday night. Thanks to Therese, I've got an awesome Italian cookie recipe for them to make for Thinking Day, which is that Saturday. And we're going to get started on our fundraising craft projects. Here's how I'm selling DH on this one. "Oh, Kaylie's going to have 2 friends sleep over next Friday." I'm NOT telling him it's the 2 other girls in our GS troop, since he's adamant that I'm not having troop functions at our house. He's got this huge group of kids in his head, and just hasn't seemed to figure out that it's only 3 girls, so it's not any different than a normal friends sleep over!

Depending on how wiped out tonight, I'll try to pop into chat for a bit now that our puter is fixed. See you then!

Safe trip, Stacey. We'll keep praying for Sharon and Ken.

And Grandma Lightbulb, of course. It's tough that she has to wait a week to find out anything.

Well, I WISH! Mr. Scuba said he'd cook for me every night....so why not stay longer?? ;)

Didn't I put in small letters that it was actually only until that next Sunday/Monday?

Well, the doc that she saw is going on vacation. He wants to do the surgery himself. Mike had researched the practice on the internet and of all the docs he seems like the best so we're ok waiting for him to come back. Waiting will stink, of course, but we want the best. If she does start having irretractable pain she is go to in and one of the partners will do it earlier.

I also want to explain the Maggie situation to you all....

99% of the time Maggie is a beautiful dog. She's not the most loving, cuddly dog in the world, but she's friendly. She has caused me more work than I'd ever imagine. I don't like having ppl over now b/c of her---she either all over them or there is hair around. She causes more housecleaning, laundry, and care than I EVER imagined a dog could cause. She disrupts our schedule--i.e. I'd love to take the kids back to the children's museum in Dayton, but travel time is such that we'd only have a short time there before we had to "get back to let the dog out." When she's out she goes right for the things she can't have...KT's stuffed animals, the kids toys...and chews them up. She's needy when I want to sit back and relax. She does disgusting things--like eat frozen Dingle poop or, today, she was chewing on a frozen dead mouse.

So when she does her growling/snapping/barking/circling, I was very quick to label it "aggression." Is it? Or is she just playing? Have I got everyone up in arms about this deformed dog who will snap and take a child's arm off? I'm starting to second guess my assessment of the situation. Maybe it is just play, but with as much as she has disrupted my life, I WANTED it to be something that will make me say "let's get rid of her!" I dunno. The breeder is ready to take her back if we want her to.....and she'll give us a puppy from her next litter. UGH! No WAY do I want to start over with a PUPPY!

Maggie is at the kennel right now as we leave tomorrow for NY to ski. I'm going to have to reevaluate when we get back. The breeder has offered to come down and observe to see her take on it. Maybe *I* am instigating it and somehow telling Maggie (in dog language) that I'm playing. I think we need a neutral 3rd party who knows something about dogs to assess the situation. The breeder offered to take her and evaluate her at her house, but honestly, she ONLY does it with me. My parents have offered to "train her with a choke chain and teach her submission" but Maggie has a problem with ME....so once she got through all of that, she'd probably still hold little regard for my dominance.

I've been known to have long term battle of the wills with teachers, my children, etc....so why not my dog?

Anyway, just wanted to explain so ppl aren't surprised when I say we're keeping Maggie. I call her "the beast" but MOST of the time she's great.
