LOL Sorry, TMI. I'm sure a couple of the medical professionals here could back me up. This is what it says on your chart if you're pregnant and over 35.

Now back to your regularly scheduled cruise thread...

geriatric is probably a nicer, gentler term that
"advanced maternal age"... that really didn't make me happy! :D

my sister was 40 and 43 when her children were born, we used to kid her about being a 'grand' mom.

Oh no, I thought our thread was gone! It had just fallen down the page. So, will a mod come along and delete us eventually?

Maybe they'll leave us alone if we keep posting.

. Teacher "I know she has a great mind, and she understands the material, it's just those little things like TURNING IN HER WORK!"

The more I listen to parents say this the more I think DS is not that unusual.

We had heard it before, "He is a great kid. Pleasure to have in the class. Contributes a great deal. But if he would only turn in his home work" and than from him "Well, I had it done, but just forgot to turn it in". and sure enough he goes and pulls it out of his bag which he has to use a front end loader on.

Ken & Shari - keeping you in our thoughts. They are talking about the mud slide in Ventura county. I'm thinking that is very close to you. I know Shari posted yesterday morning - hope all is still ok.

Hi Mark and Mary:

All is well here. Lots of rain - too much rain - and La Conchita is approximately 10 miles north of here. Drive by that little stretch of road lots of times and makes me sad to see the damage that was still there since the 1995 slide. Pictures in the paper this morning were mind boggling. Blue sky this morning - they say there's another system out there but other than cold (52 degrees - I know cold is a relative term) we doing great. How are things with you two?

Two phone calls with the school today, one good, one not so good - both about DD. Good news, they're bumping her up in Language Arts because she needs the challenge (ya THINK???). Not so good, her science grade is in the toilet. She'll pass, but not by much. Teacher "I know she has a great mind, and she understands the material, it's just those little things like TURNING IN HER WORK!"

Yes, we know this one quite well, too. It was a major problem in 5th grade for some reason. I think it happens with teachers that don't have a set routine for picking up homework. Our daughter doesn't hear a lot of what goes on in class, so a random "ok, pass in your homework" gets lost for her. I'm starting to think there are lots more like her.

Shari,

Glad to hear you are well. There was a picture in this mornings paper of a huge (25' high) boulder in the road somewhere in California (can't recall where now) that rolled down hill with all the rain.

All the stories of floods, mudslides and the like is frightening.

Keep safe!! :grouphug:

Hi guys! Back from Vegas. Barb and I had a great time.
We saw Jay Leno, he was onstage much longer than I thought he would be. And the show "O" was simply astounding.
Back to the real world. I came home to find my laundry room totally (totally!) empty. The new washer and dryer should be arriving any minute (yeah, right) and I guess Jay decided that now would be a good time to remove all the old shelving and paint, too. Oh, goodie.
Thanks, Kevin, for the tips on removing wine stains. I'll give it a try. If not, I will have a new shirt for cleaning house in! Won't I look good??
We got the video of the vow renewal. It's pretty funny. I never realized that I make funny faces all the time. Pursed lips, rolling eyes.... And do you know how hard it is to walk in sand and try to look like a graceful bride? It can't be done. I look like a full-back plowing through a line. :earboy2:
Ah well....it's good to be back. Even if it's only for a week and a half.
GaRry.....love and prayers......

Shari - so glad to hear you guys are ok. Had me worried this morning when I heard Ventura county.

Things are ok here - got rain, but better than the ice storm they predicted. Now it is warming up and they are predicting thunderstorms. Wacky weather!

Hi. I was on this cruise. I am new to the boards. Just thought i'd drop a line in. sorry for the interuption.

We have been absent from the DIS for the past day. Been busy searching for our anniversay cruise. I think the final decision has been made. Radisson Seven Seas Voyager. It is a Eastern trip, but that is okay. For this one we just want to be taken care of for the week.

The best part is that wine is included, note not free, with dinner. I won't have to haul my carafe on the ship. I'll take a few bottles, but it wont be 26 bottles. I might be able to get it down to 6, I think that is the most Sharon will be able to carry.

So where's our invitation? Not that anything has changed, I just like to be asked.
