Thanks. I've been trying to be good. Of course it didn't help that when we got out of victory lane there was a booth selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts - still warm! :)

It's nice to see you are getting out. We have been wondering about you. Did they let you drive or did you have ride in the backseat?

You have to have a little treat once in a while, or you'll fall completely "off the wagon".

John... you are in big trouble! Didn't you get my check... oh yeah.. it's in the mail....:rotfl: Or did I send it to DCL..... oh well! :rotfl2: Hmmmmm... blackmail or another cruise......

Now let me see -- I have a better idea than a check -- you and Joe keep our kids and Torey and I go on the PC cruise!!! :smooth: Just think -- you'll get an all expense paid trip to Atlanta and you can bring the dogs!

Hi Folks...have been away for a bit. Had a little catching up to do....like the old days.
I was at a Birthday party in Germany.
I have a sister there, who was celebrating her 60th.
Spend one day in the mountains, very close to the Austrian border.

Very beautiful.
Have to go on a diet now, I over did everything.

Mary....thanks for keeping this thread alive...congradulations.
Virgil....You must be a proud Dad.

GaRry..... I hope you are feeling better.
That procedure sounds like it didn't tickle too much.
I really hope that everything turns out OK for you.

We attended a 6 alarm fire about a month ago.
Our crew was knee deep in oily slimmy contaminated water. It was a plastic manufacturing company on fire, that made plastic boards for decking. After getting relieved all our breathing apparatus and bunker gear were thrown in a big pile to get deconned.
We were all sent back to the staion to get replacement equipment.
I was not too impressed with my career choice that night.
A regular little house fire would have suited me just fine.

I thought of you that night, GaRry and about your incident years ago.
I made sure to fill out all the appropiate forms for worker's compension in case one day any of us get sick.
After those types of fires you really think of retirement and not working too much longer.

Anyway, yes our summer road trip...........We are probably going to do both Hershey and Busch Gardens( Virginia) in the same road trip this summer.
You know Amusement Parks and kids, they go together.
Thats how we plan vacations these days.

Does anyone know if the kids will be bored with the history of Williamsburg.
Should I go back there after they are a little bit older?

I also want to go the the Naval Base to see a aircraft carrier or two as well.

That's fine.... you just have to do the August one... I'd be happy to get out of S. FLA in August... although I suppose Atlanta is not much better.
I think you and Torey should come on the cruise anyway.... plenty of rooms available now... stay in a lifeboat suite like us....:rotfl:
I will do an encore as Gloria and I"ll bribe the cruise staff to give you a glow necklace .....

Four months later and we finally are watching Ladder 49. Great movie.

Gus & GaRry. I always had great respect for you guys, but wow I don't know how you do it!

Gus, good to hear from you! Germany sounds wonderful. Maybe one of these days I'll get overseas.

As far as your summer plans, we're going to be visiting Hershey with my college roommate the week after 4th of July. Exact plans are not set yet. We're meeting them in Gettysburg, spending about 3 days there with one of them set for Hershey, then going down to the Maryland battlefields.

As far as Williamsburg, we went last summer when Hurricane Charley was going through. They really do set it up well for kids. There's lots of interactive things for them to do. One thing I didn't plan for, that I wished I had was an evening activity. There was a mock witch trial that DD really wanted to see, but it was sold out. It was absolutely POURING while we were there, and I still think we got our money's worth. Typical summer days would be hot and humid, so be prepared for Florida type weather.

Food wise, I personally wouldn't think the tavern evenings would be worth it for kids the age of yours. It's pretty pricey, and I know my kids wouldn't eat much that was offered. I'd rather spend that money on the other show things that they do. Williamsburg is known for their breakfast places (lots of pancake houses), so be sure to check them out. They have the typical tourism books in the hotels that have pretty decent discounts. And there's a great local barbeque place that we really liked down there.

As far as seeing a carrier, I'm guessing you were thinking of visiting Norfolk? Since 9/11, that's a closed base, so you wouldn't be able to go in. I visit there a lot for work, and I even have to check in every time. There is a good air and sea museum near Yorktown that DS visited with the Boy Scouts. I can ask him what kinds of things they had there, but he didn't talk about a carrier. One of their leaders got them onto the Norfolk base that trip, and they were able to eat in the enlisted mess. I know you can view a carrier up close and personal up in New York City. They have the USS Intrepid, as well as a submarine there for tours. Hope this helps!
