Sue, sorry about the tires! Doggone it, how come they are so expensive???

I've been playing around with plans for the Girl Scout cruise, and I'm kind of running into a problem. I think the DCL 4 day probably won't work out, because of the dates of leaving/arriving. Our pre or post cruise WDW time would be over the weekends, and I'm leaning heavily toward trying to stay on rented points at the Boardwalk again. The weekend makes that unaffordable. Does anyone know of a good cruise line that has 4 days that either leave Florida on a Wed or Thursday, or return to Florida on a Monday or Tuesday?

I really would like to stay away from Carnival, because the shorter trips are supposed to be party boats, and I don't want to take a bunch of teens into that kind of atmospere. And I'd prefer either Port Canaveral or Tampa as the port. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is a long drive from Orlando.

Help anyone???? Thanks!

Lisa - what about a 3 night cruise. They leave on Thursday and get back on Sunday. It still goes to Nassau and Castaway Cay but just doesn't have a sea day.

update on grandma lightbulb....
her dh called this morning. all of the test results are not in yet, but the doctor is very hopeful that this is a contained cancer. her lymph nodes were clear of cancer cells and that is wonderful!! he gave her 5 yr survival rates of about 80%.
thanks all for the prayers!

back to school.....cramming things in so i don't have to take any to the Scubas! :)

Lisa - Would ever have thought mini van tires would be more than truck, oh well.

Mary has a good idea about the 3 night. I also would suggest checking the rates on the RCI ships out of Port Canaveral. I have heard on other boards the programs are smaller for kids but more hands on and less video/computer.

Right now, I'm thinking the 3 day would be the best choice, but I just hate to cut my favorite part (the CRUISE!) short. The girls would range from 13-17, and I'll probably have between 4 and 8 girls. I just really liked the flexibility of the BWVs, and for this trip, I think we'd save a fortune having the kitchenette (breakfasts in the room, evening snacks, a place to freeze water bottles, etc.). The guest laundry will let us pack light (or at least not take stinky park clothes onto the cruise!) And with only 2 days for the parks in August, I think the convenience factor will be a big thing. For our arrival/departure day, the boardwalk pool will occupy them. Oh well. I should just face the fact that I was SPOILED by our stay there! and really don't want to face those Pop Century bus rides every day!

Lisa, you should keep in mind that many of the shorter cruises are on older ships. The cruise lines moved their old ships to the shorter trips when the new ships come in.

We have been one a couple and each time walk away very unimpressed. Maintenance is poor, food poorer quality, very few day time programs.....

You get the idea.

I would serious consider the three day DCL. It might be shorter, but the quality will be there and the girls will have a great time, guaranteed. And that is what it is about.

Good luck.

Been too busy for the regular cruise line board, but today I got the photo CD's from Linda and in her enclosed letter she mentioned the "third Disney ship" and seeing it "in writing" and that it was "what we already knew long ago."

???????????????

Did I miss something? Went to the main board and didn't see anything recently about it.

Basically DCL has finally admitted in writing that they have a design for a 3rd ship but are waiting for the Euro/Dollar exchange to get better.

This is what Mark and I heard from the captain back on our May '03 cruise so it really isn't news, but it was the first time at DCL has issued a statement about it. Speculation is that an announcement could be made about a new ship while the Magic is on the West Coast.

Lisa - With this crazy weather I am glad my dogs don't have heavy coats. The shedding would drive me nuts.

Just got this in my email.

It is with saddest heart that I pass on the following news. Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection, andcomplications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, who has a bun in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, TheCalifornia Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy, and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart "cookie", wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.

Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.

The funeral was held at3:50 for about 20 minutes

Drat!!!! My '04 Toyota Sienna mini van had a slow leak in the right rear tire. I have the AWD model and no spare, drive 100 miles on the flat tire. Well I forgot to ask how much to replace the tires :confused3 . $360 per TIRE. My Excursion tires were only $300 apiece. The dealer promised I didn't have to replace all 4 just the one bad tire so there is a silver lining ( I guess)..

I had to replace all FOUR tires on my Sienna (oh, how I miss that van)...

See, I'm a smart alek....and it would be due for a tire rotation and I'd say "why would I pay to rotate the tires? They rotate every time I drive the van!"

Ok, well, several years without rotating the tires causes uneven wear and irreperable damage to the tires! :scared1:

We made that mistake one time. Now we have a schedule down so we rotate every 10,000 miles.

3rd Disney ship on the drawing board
February 3, 2005 •• 930 words •• ID: brv2005020915191335
DONNA BALANCIA FLORIDA TODAY ORLANDO -- Disney Cruise Line is expected to play an increasingly important role at The Walt Disney Co., company executives said Wednesday. That includes a third cruise ship to add to the Disney fleet that now includes the Magic and the Wonder, both based at Port Canaveral. "We have the designs for the new ship," Walt Disney World President Al Weiss said. "It's just a matter of waiting for a favorable exchange rate." One of ......

sorry, the article is already archived and you have to pay to get it now. But there is also a thread on the main board about the article and what I was saying is at least Disney Executive as admitting the the designs are done and they are just waiting for a better exchange rate! Tha's what I meant.

Glad you got the CD of pictures.

Linda

P.S. I went and bumped up the thread....it is called WOW 3rd Ship.

Today begins the main part of Speedweeks in Daytona. Today is the first two big races, ARCA and the BudShoot Out. I'll be there and enjoy the races. After that, I watch the races from my chair.

We also do not eat out or go out unless necessary. Have to wait for everyone to go home first.
