Hi Christine - Welcome to the DIS and welcome to this crazy group! I sent you a pm.

:wave2: Hi! Back for a bit....watching Survivor...thinking how cool it would be for us to form teams if we get left on one of the islands! I want all of the Scout leaders on my team!!

Welcome Christine! I have a DD (Jordan) age 14 1/2 and DS (Jared) age 12 1/2.......

I LOVE egg nog, but I'm very picky about it....I guess if DCL's isn't any good, I can always resort to my "whine"...huh, Virgil???

I could never surprise my family....I can't keep a secret worth beans. ALthough, they don't know we're going on the Mexican Riviera cruise next summer.....

Thanks Ohiominnie........every once in awhile you fluke one.

I'm trying to practice being a pirate so that I join the crowd in St. Lucia.

By the way DW said she is going to wait 'till after Halloween to buy pirate costumes on sale.

You know, Paul....I have a word of advice for you...don't get too close to the railings on the ship....... :smooth:

I went back to the pirate name site, and did the quiz..hadn't done that one before.
The name it gave me was Mad Grace Rackham (pronounced Rack-em)
And it said: Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit.
MOI???

Hey, Stacey, we're related! I was Cap'n Ethel Rackham.

Welcome, Relatorlady, do tell us more about you. Yes, your teen will have lots of company in this group.

I've been working all day, no fun. Did take a break to watch Survivor. I thought it got really interesting tonight. Until tonight, this season was pretty blah.

I just tried to get new pirate names and the same ones came back. Deckswabber Esmerelda for me and Linda the Scury for DM.

When I tried to get a pirate name for Cash, his name came back the same as mine....Mighty Ripper, which means to me that y'all better watch out down wind from us.....

I hope that was the worst. Of course, it could have come out **** **** ***.

Linda - did your foray into town work out? Is Cash all certified?

Hmmmm - you're talking about me????

LOL

Luckily, It's not like "ER" (the TV show) most of the time... There tends to be a fair amount of down time. I may walk into the ER and find 4 patients in the back waiting to be seen and anywhere from 5-10 out front waiting for a bed. I'll see those 4 fairly quickly - get things started on them - and then have to wait for x-rays and labs. The limiting factors is always having open beds to put the patients in. We have a fairly high acuity (sick patients) so putting minor things in the hallway is hard to do.

I'm also pretty good at multi-tasking.... I'll start to post... take a phone call... look at labs/x-rays.... admit/discharge the patient and then finish the post....I hate just sitting there doing nothing....Last night - I didn't see any patients from 3am-5am... then saw 4 from 5a-7a... I saw 27 total in my 9 hour shift......

We're pretty good at getting patients in and out. Our census was 31,000 when I took over 2 1/2 yrs. ago and we'll be at 42,000 this year. Our total ER time (door to discharge) is about 3 hrs for all of our patients... admissions take a little bit longer.....

Hope that explains it..... Be assured - that the patients come first....

The question is finally answered. Thanks for the explanation.

The only time I remember seeing eggnog served was on Christmas morning in the main atrium when Santa was by the tree passing out gifts. His little elves were walking around handing out the eggnog.

This year we will be dealing with the St. Thomas mess so I don't know how they will be handling it.

He did not come out until 8 or so and shore excursions will already be started, including diving.

Christmas moring will be interesting, spiked eggnog before a dive? Don't think so. I'll have to get my fill at home.

Welcome Christine.

I have two DSs - 10 and 12 who will be in the 10-12 club group. I had noticed there seem to be a lot of DIS girls in that age group but I'm sure they'll be lots of boys on board.

We had our flight tickets through yesterday - earliest we've ever had tickets sent I think.

Vicki, sorry, I just saw your post from yesterday...We're on deck 7 too! PM me and I will give you our cabin # if you like.

Cheers, Kara

WOW the deck 7 cruisers are growing!! We can all met on the not so secret aft verandah. I like sitting there to read/sun.

Sorry I didn't post last night, I was wiped out when I got home and took a short nap which lasted into the night. DD had to take DS to TKD class. Very stressful day yesterday and I think I'm getting another cold. Let's hope the nap helped to avert it a bit. Now I have to try to catch up on all the posts I missed yesterday. That will take a while, might have to wait until I get home from work.

Happy Friday Morning Holiday Cruisers.:sunny:
