Boy are we poor today - but our cruise is paid in full. I got an email from DU about booking shore excursions in 7 days. YIKES I'm not ready for this! How have people booked a pirate excursion at St. Lucia already? Are you taking a non-DCL excursion?

It sure is real after you fork over big $$$$

10 weeks? YIKES again!

What excursions are families with young teens planning on?

Take care,
Teresa

I am not able to include any of the "smiles" in my posts. ??? It just whips me back up to the top of my post when I try to include one. Anyone know what I might have done?

Teresa - with the changes DCL made regarding deposits and payments (applying mainly to future cruises) - we were all able to book our excursions once we paid in full at 90 days. Some managed to do it without paying in full - if they were using a travel agent. You can go ahead and book anytime now.

I contacted Disney today and added on a REAS package. I was told I would be contacted about 45 days prior to the cruise to schedule the Palo and massage reservations. I'd post a big smile if I could. .V.

DH and I spent the afternoon at the local Disney Store. We found a great pair of Mickey Hands on the clearance shelf, and then of course used our DVC card for another 10% off. We thought they would be fun to wave with while we sail away. We went to pick up our prepaid Aladdin DVD and of course wound up spending a bunch more. DGS should be happy. Disney really has their marketing figured out with us.

Hi everyone!

So sad to hear about Christopher Reeves, too. He was in one of my all time favorite (DH says sappy) movies - "Somewhere In Time" with Jane Seymour.

LeiLani, Mary Ann & Virgil - DH is golfing on the cruise, too. Can't find the list right now, but I know he's signed up for several. A foursome? Virgil - are you bringing your clubs or renting them? Figured he'd definitely take his own golf shoes, but wasn't sure of the rental club quality.

:daisy: Stacey - Hope your day has brightened since this a.m. Some Mondays need to be do-over days!

Hey Matt - How's your weather? Are you getting your tropical storm namesake or did that one miss you?

Gail - Got your email - thanks! Glad to hear you booked another cruise! We'll still miss you on this one.

Gus - Also sent you an email. Congrats on the T.O.P.! ::yes::

LeiLani - Glad to hear Brittany had a good time this weekend!

Have a good night (what's left of it) - talk to you tomorrow!

Charlotte - I have to take my own golf shoes - my feet are too small to rent them ( the smallest size is 8). On St. Thomas I know that the club has Callaways and Cobra clubs for rent. I have to rent - as I've been told - NO on taking my clubs..... Really wouldn't want to hassle with them - anyways....

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Mary Ann - got your pm - thanks.

Charlotte - I sent you an e-mail over the weeked. Did you get it?

Teresa - the boards were buzzing about a month ago about being able to book at the 90 day mark. So you know this group - we got on the phone on a Sunday morning and called in. I think it was back on 9/19. There is a list in the current newsletter of what some of us are doing for excursions if that will help at all.

Well off to read the boads and then to work. Have a great day everyone!

Angie, you'll have something in common with my in-laws. They make their own wine too. And sometimes it's even drinkable!

Still catching up from the computer-less weekend. More later.

Hope everyone has a great ( Canadian ) Thanksgiving.

I don't get a turkey today.....we had one on my birthday instead.
Too bad, I could eat turkey 24/7.....I love it.
Off to the "Pumpkin patch" today with the kids.

Gus

Gus, when I was in college, a couple of the fraternities had a lot of Canadian members, and we used to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with them. I loved the 2nd Turkey day!

Hope you had a good one!

Good morning everyone!

Lisa - Sorry to hear about your computer problems. My AOL has been acting strange lately.....kicks me offline all of a sudden. (Guess it thinks I've been on waaaaay too long!) :badpc:

Mary - I'll go check emails again - may have missed the one you sent.

:daisy: Stacey - Hope your Tuesday is brighter!

Virgil - Oh good, you're not bringing your own clubs. I've been trying to convince DH to leave his here, too - same reason, less to carry. Bringing shoes is much easier (especially when we'll have a bag for decorations, snorkeling gear, etc., etc.)

Yikes! Just typing that makes me want to start packing now so I have plenty of time to unpack to a reasonable amount. Anyone else suffer from bringstoomuchitis?

Doc, You and my DH share something too. My DH is a size 7 EEE or EEEE. Boy finding shoes for him is tough! In fact, he's thinking about coming to our mini-meet up in the DC area just so he can go shoe shopping!

Speaking of the mini-meet, since Tina can't make it on the 6th, how bout we do this up Charlotte's way instead of fighting the Tyson's Corner traffic? Charlotte, do you want to suggest something via pm to Sue (dobelover) and I? Unless anyone else is free and in the DC area on the 6th of November? We don't want to exclude anyone, nor do we want to bore you with particulars!

Now that I've worked my way through the weekend posts, here's our update.

FIL is now released from the hospital. They are still guarded about his condition, so prayers and pixie dust would be appreciated. He has a dr. appointment Friday morning, and they said they wanted to "discuss" something. So we're going to make the decision Friday afternoon about their trip. DH is worried that his mom is stressing out over making a decision about the trip. So I explained to her that we do have trip insurance, so if they can't go, we aren't out any money. I told her that if the doctors say that it's likely that he'll be able to go, we should go ahead and pay the trip off, then use the insurance if thing change at the last minute.

We had our home inspection and it went pretty well. Met the buyer, who's a retiring Navy commander with grown kids (not sure if he's divorced or widowed, but no wife). He'll have lots and lots of room in this house! Anyway, he asked for us to fix all the nitnoids on the inspection. We've responded back with mostly no's. So we'll see, but I think it's a pretty fair guess that he'll accept since he does want the house.

They break ground on our new house this week :earseek: so we're supposed to decide on interior layouts within the month! And I have to travel to Texas the end of October. Okay, memory lapse here. Who's the person who's in Fort Worth/Dallas area? I'll be there from the 24th through the evening of the 26th. Then I go to Amarillo for 2 days, leaving late at night to be home for closing on the 29th.

Next weekend, I'm going to start packing up the out of season things, which includes bringing in all the winter stuff. That should get me about 85 to 90% of the way packed for the cruise. I promised DH that I'm going to get rid of all the extra stuff that we never use (like the 10 or 15 sets of twin sheets, when we only have the kids top bunk beds in that size, and no one sleeps on those. I think 4 sets is plenty!)

Other miscellaneous thoughts! Vicki, you can order really small waist sizes hemmed to your specification at lands end. I know I've seen 28 inch waists available. They are often in the clearance section.

And Angela, I swear by Chadwicks for lower cost formal wear. I've bought a couple of them for $29 apiece! Depending on the season, JC Penneys also has some good deals, but it's usually after prom season or New Years.

And welcome Mary Ann! Glad you are joining us. My kids will both be in the Oceaneer's Lab, but in the older group (DS is 11 1/2, DD will be almost 13 at cruise time).

That's about it from here for today. Lisa

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Another beautiful fall day here! The leaves are really starting to turn.

Virgil- we took a little trip to West Virginia yesterday! They are building a federal training facility in Harpers Ferry so DH and I drove over there to take a look at it. Its about a 50 minute drive from here. I know its not anywhere near you, but I thought it was beautiful there right along the Shenandoah river.

Stacey- forgot to tell you that we don't mind your smoking. DH loves a good cigar and plans on enjoying several on the cruise so your welcome to come out on our verandah!

Someone asked about booking excursions on your own, but I don't remember who?
We booked Eli's Echo tour in Antigua on our own. DCL does not offer this. I have read great things about it on the cruise critic boards.

Lisa- congrats on the house. We would really love to move but it just doesn't seem to be in the cards right now. Sorry I won't make the meet. Darn kids and their sports! Kristen is done at 5:00 on 11/6 so if you go to Tysons and stay that long let me know.

Off to run Jason to the orthodontist.
Have a great day!!!

Lisa - GREAT news on breaking ground for your house! ::yes:: I must have missed the post where you said you'd decided. I read the one where you were looking at a couple of lots. That's really wonderful it's all working out for you!!
I'll pm you on ideas where to meet on 11/6. I'll email Sue, too.
Sending lots and lots of pixie dust and prayers for your FIL. I so know what that's like.....between my Dad and DH's mother, it's been a hospital year for us, too. Hope he's on the mend!

Tina - Forgot to say - I'm sorry we won't get a chance to meet on the 6th. We have the same problem with sports schedules, but it all hits us on weeknights and Sundays! Will look forward to meeting you on the cruise, though! It's getting so close now......hard to believe!

Adding - if we want to meet later on the 6th so Tina & family can join in, that's fine by us. Anne Arundel Mills? Tysons?

On the golfing: DH also has feet issues. I affectionately refer to them as "Fred Flinstone Feet". So he'll be bringing his own shoes but won't be bringing his clubs either. Too much trouble and just not enough room.

Thanks for the welcome Lisa and hope your FIL is OK.

Gotta go. Got a house full of kids (no school today) and I being called for the Monopoly Tournament.

The Scuba Diving Pre-Meet went very well yesterday. The two families spent the day together at EPCOT. We all did Mission to Mars, it was great! There are games after the ride and we all played one of them several times. It was a lot of fun being a part of "Mission Control" while the kids (Matt, Alicia & Lisa) were "Astronauts".
Kevin, Jim, Matt & Alicia did the Dive Quest at EPCOT's Living Seas. Diana, Lisa & I watch and tried to take pictures of the divers in the tank. There were 9 Divers and their dive was about 45-50 minutes long. All of the equipment was provided. They looked like they all had fun. Both families ordered the video that was taken while they were underwater. It should be fun to see when it arrives here in a few weeks. All of the divers had fun "playing" with the kids who were watching them at the windows. Alicia spent quite a bit of time doing this. You can see the Divers both from inside the Living Seas and from it's restaurant. Each of Divers received a T-Shirt at the end of the experience.
Afterwards, we ate in France. We had a wonderful meal and it was fun to spend time together.

Well, there were more than 4 divers in our group!

Lisa seemed to invent French Quest.........

We were walking around the edge of the fountain on the outside of Le Chefs and Lisa was jumping around from corner to corner. She took a jump a little too big and fell right in. Woo! She got soaked and had to wear the Dive Quest T-shirt.

So, Lisa. Are there any fish at the bottom of French Quest?

And I am going to try to get you a t-shirt, really.
