Thanks to you, I will probably get a ration now and direction to the closest cooking class!

Sorry, he forgets that not everyone understands Eddy Speak.

(Eddy being our last name, it's a particular lingo inherited from his Dad, I think.)

So the earthquake was between LA and SF? I'm not sure where Parkfield is, are we talking Fresno?

Ken - when was your son at CSULB? My guess is later than me, but I spent a year there, 91-92 before I decided SoCal wasn't for me. Came home and finished off at Santa Clara University.

If I remember correctly, the quake was almost equidistant from LA and SF, though a bit closer to LA. Farther south than Fresno.

Glad to hear there are a lot of ladies with the bug for formal wear - I NEVER get to dress up. On our last 7-day, DH was almost the only one to wear a tux for formal night and felt self-conscious, but I convinced him that this trip, because of the holidays, would have a lot more folks dressing up. Now DH has his own tux and he's pretty excited about it. And, he looks REALLY good in it, :lovestruc

Cheers, Kara

Forgot to mention that as part of my packing lighter approach Mark will be renting a Tux. We did this in '01 and it worked great.

Just popped in for a minute to say hi......

Today has been one of those "running" days. I left the office at about 1:30 and have been running ever since.

After dance, I'll come back in one last time before we leave tomorrow.

Floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes......anybody nervous???

See ya later,
Stacey

garRy - Hate to hear how your day started.....

We'd also like our shirts in advance.....

Today was our monthly meeting day.... Had to meet with the hospital CEO - tell him how unhappy we are with the staffing.....Threatened to act like the surgeons here - yell and scream until they get their way.....

I hope that everybody is recovering from the storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes...

We plan on getting dressed up - I have a Tux - just looking for a new vest or two....

Do wish that we'd find out more about the schedule of things......

Still trying to get DCL to fax me or send me confirmation of our excursions.....

I had two choices. Eat what she cooked for the rest of my life (sorry Honey) or learn to do it better. I chose the later and it was a great decision. Every Sunday some neighbors and I would go off to a local upscale restaurant, drink wine, talk about food, cook the food, and than eat it. 4 hours later I would come home and pass out on the couch with that great "full" feeling.

Sharon never complained about the expense (which is a big deal since she is a CPA ) because she enjoys the fruits of my labor.

It's time to start looking for the next class. Just need to make sure they serve plenty of wine, which is why I never miss a cooking class on DC.

Sorry to here about CA earthquake. That is one thing about a hurricane, you know when it is coming and can prepare for it. Can't do much cooking during an earthquake.

I enjoy formal/semi formal evenings, my only problem is when I retired :bounce: I cut up my panty hose and vowed to never wear them again. That said I will bring my dress slacks and dressier tops. Sue

Sue - I hear you. That's why I'm going for a long black skirt. With black sandels I'm all set. My legs aren't good enough to go without pantyhose and a short skirt.

I don't speak Eddie Speak, but I'm thinking I might know what this means......

:earseek: :earseek:

Hope everyone survived the earthquake..............

I'm back on-line at home.
Finally.......... it is amazing how one can miss a computer these days.

Does anyone know if Castaway Cay took another hit with Jeanne?
Apparently it passed on the north tip of the Bahamas.
Is that where CC is?

I'm really afraid of Vero Beach getting hit hard. They are now talking of it not being open for a month.:(

Haven't heard anything on Castaway Cay.

I just got back from a New Smyrna Beach (north of Vero Beach) Chamber of Commerce function. Our exec was on the beach today with the City reps. Many of the ocean front condos/hotels/restaurants are condemned because the foundations have been washed away. For some even the sea walls did not help them.

The best thing to help was the sea oats. If I remember correctly Vero Beach had sea walls/armourment and sea oats for the natural look so they might be okay.

Hope CC is OK.

Stacey have a great time with your mom in Vegas.

we will be dressing up for formal nights here. I have a few formal dresses I hope still fit and DH will be in a tux. DD has her formals as well - she also doesn't like the formal foot wear and will most likely wear sandles with her dresses. I'm just not sure what DS will be in. he has a nice suit but would like to get a tux.

Think I'll head to bed early - Nite all!!

Vicki

Hi all, Bummer I didn't feel the earthquake. I work in a warehouse and the last one we had almost sent me to the door. Those warehouses have really flexable walls.
Called reservation desk again today and avast they finally did not disincline to aquiese tomyrequest. WOO HOO we be salin' on the Unicorn (aka Black Pearl) on the afternoon raid ! AARGH.

Formals... still have twenty pounds on my wish list for my birthay. Darn stuff just won't go away. Lots of good shops around to choose from for formals. DH PAul is on the fence re: the tux. Buy or rent.
Hey can we bring a glass of wine into the restaurants at dinner?
Cheers!-D
Hey Ken when is your ride from LA to SF? good luck to you whenever it is

Jim,

Here's a thread with some pics, probably from that same group as it is a government site.

Possible Pic of DVC Vero Beach Resort! -It's ugly

Looks like whatever they have for a seawall is still there, if the long shot is any judge.

I've been on the hunt for pics, seen a lot of the area, none except for those of the Vero resort itself. Looks liek a good number of oceanfront places will wind up being demolished. :/
