Thanks for all the info and the excursions alerts. This board is amazing. And I agree -- 99.9% of my dealings with DCL were great. Even when I signed on my best friend for the DVC cruise with only a week to go they were ready. So I guess I'll forgive them today...

We're leaving for FL in less than 3 months!

I didn't even try to DCL today because of all the confusion I thought I would just wait until morning. I hope there is some mistake because we really want the am Pirate excursion. That is the only one right now I am sure we are booking.

I ADORE Allison Janney. I used to LIVE for the WW (I was an official WingNut), but as far as I'm concerned the show ended the day Sorkin left. I tried to watch some of the Wells & Co. ummm...stuff (trying to stay family-friendly here)...but 3 episodes into S5 and I was more than done. But AJ is a phenomenal actress, and it shines even through the ummm...stuff...she has to work with. I am SO glad she won!!!!!

Well...what a day it was! I finally made it back on here. Got a lot done, and am feeling really good about that.
I'm trying not to stress about the excursions. I didn't even think to ask them to fax me a confirmation. The gal just said she'd mail it. Soooo....I will be among the callers in the a.m. And I'm going to ask for a fax.
I guess if we (my family) don't get the excursions we want, we can find a beach somewhere....or I could shop!

We got a ton of rain...at least 2", which is a lot for us. Our creek was flooded for a while, but then went back down.

The camera is actually pretty easy...the most trouble will be cleaning and drying it after using it.
Mary, I got a 35mm Sealife Reefmaster RC. It has a built in flash, but light is so important, I also got an external flash. I guess the biggest reason I went with the 35mm instead of the digital is because, even though I have a really nice Pentax digital, I still get more consistantly better pictures with my Konica 35mm. I have taken some astounding shots with the digital, but for every one of those, there are 3 bad ones. Plus, with the digitals, you have to charge the battery every night.....with the 35mm, you can take 8 rolls of film with two AA batteries. The worst part about the 35mm is changing the film while you're out on the water. Getting in the boat, making sure the camera is totally dry.....
Either way, I am so looking forward to having great pictures. I've used the disposables, the regular cameras in a water proof case, flash/no flash....and unless the sky is tremendously sunny, the pictures all stink. So this is pretty exciting for me!
(Gee....could you tell that??) And it's nice that it can be used on land, outside the casing, too.

DH was happy that we all got some things done while he was gone. He was pretty sorry he wasn't here to see me do laundry in high heels And he was surprised that we have our excursions (hopefully) already. He feels that it's coming up fast....Jared said today that he has waited FOREVER!
His English class had to write about their favorite place in the world, so he wrote about DCL. That's my boy!

We got lots of rain today too, the remnants of Hurricane Javier. There are flash flood warnings for counties all around us, and one of the schools is closed tomorrow due to water damage. I'm pretty sure it isn't DD's school, she will be disappointed. She's trying to see how long she can delay writing an essay that is due Tuesday. She's done pretty well so far.

DH loved the idea of the Sunset sail in Key West too, so I may try again to book that one. It's on the big schooner, that would be cool. They have a new excursion on that ship, called the Stargazer excursion. We would definitely miss dinner if we did that one!

Kevin will probably post about his underwater digital camera. I know it's an Olympus, and he bought a special case for it. Only problem, he doesn't get to use it much, since DD always wants it when they are diving. Makes it hard to take any pics of her!

I never got into West Wing, but I adore Alias. I was hoping Jennifer Garner would win, she was amazing last season. Meryl Streep won yet another award. It's OK, she gives great acceptance speeches. She started out with "sometimes, even I think I'm overrated"...

That was one of the things I was toying with today with the camera. It has a hard case and a soft case. I only want to take one, and was seeing how to fit it all the best. The soft one fits all the gear, and then some.

Well, anyway.....off to bed. Silly dog kept me up all night last night, trying to sneak into bed with me. She hates storms.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today is the last day of our vacation to nowhere Since we did the museum yesterday I think we'll just finish things up around the house today. I still have laundry etc. that I didn't get to. Of course I'll also be on the phone with DCL and the excursions!

Stacey - thanks for the info on the camera. I think what we were looking at was the Sealife digital. We aren't going into the whole thing with the strobe etc. Just looking at something to replace having to take disposables. We can't spend a lot either.

Morning all. I'm going to try to call DCL before I leave for travel this morning. The only excursion I'm going to book is DH's fishing charter. I'm sure he'll want morning, so Gail, hopefully he's on with your DH.

The only other things we are planning to do, I'll book on my own. THey are the train/trolley in Key West and Coral World in St. Thomas.

Update on the parking lot thing. I spoke to the mom this morning, and said "Excuse me. Do you know xxxx's mom, you know, the little girl with the wheelchair? Well, she can't get her daughter in her chair when you park here. You know, xxx's dad is down in Norfolk, so her mom's already got her hands full. It would help a lot if you just parked over here." She said "oh, okay. No problem, and moved her truck. Not sure how long it will last, but at least I know I've officially said something. I am going to call the daycare director and mention it to her as well. Thanks Lynda for the info, which I'll make sure to tell the director.

Update on the house sale thing. The realtor said that she's sure we can sell the house very very quickly (like less than a week!) and clear a pretty good chunk of money. She knows of a number of new construction efforts that would fit our needs, and probably end up lowering our house payment, since we're looking to move onto less land. So I think we might be doing this! We'd go into a rental for 6-9 months while the building was being done. So that will make 11 moves in 15 1/2 years. We're thinking and praying about it, and will probably decide in about a week.

I just got off the phone with DCL and confirmed that the blank spot on our excursion reservation is for the 9 am Caribbean Pirate excursion in St. Lucia. The woman I spoke to says it is inthe system but still not showing up when she previews the fax. The date shows up and St. Lucia shows up but not the name or time. She did say I can call back at anytime and get a new fax sent. I'll wait until I hear someone else has had a successful fax and then call again. Just happy that we are in the system for the 9am excursion. ARRRRRRR

We *may* be. At least that's what I was told when I called at 9. It still wasn't in the system, so she talked with the excursion supervisor and *apparently* that person added us to the list. This CM assured me, in no uncertain terms, that we WILL BE on the excursion at 9:00. I guess I'll believe it when I get the actual confirmation with 9:00 listed.

Hi everyone. I spoke to someone who told me also that we are in the system for the 9:00am Caribbean Private shore excursion. I just received a fax and it is also still blank. Will wait to get the one in the mail. We also added the Beach trip for the 4 of us in Antigua. I do not want to leave DS on the boat all the time. I might cancel the Buck Island snorkel trip. It will be cutting it tight to come back have lunch and then cab it to Coral World. I heard from others who have done the Buck Island trip that it is awesome. The Atlantis also goes out there. I got on there web site last night and their child requiremnets are that the child is 36 inches tall which DS is. It does not have an age requirement. I am going to call them today and see. If that is a go we will give up the Buck Island as this trip is shorter.

MARY, Thanks. I just got off the phone with Atlantis. There is no age requiremnet BUT there is a height requiremnt of 36 inches. DS is a big boy so we will be able to take him. He is going to be so excitied!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trip through them door to door is 2 hours. They are open Christmas day.they do not have their time schedule yet. The women told me to call back end of October. We can do Coral World and the Coki Beach in the am or pm depending on when they go. There office is right at the crusie dock. We will surprise the kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Monday Morning All!!

I also spoke to DCL this morning and got the same information about the Pirate excursion. We are "supposedly" booked on the 9am excursion but it does not show on the list.

Has anyone booked anything in St Maarten? We are trying to book the Pinel Island Snorkel Tour but apparently they are having trouble with the excursions in St Maarten. I was talking to Wilma this morning and she spoke to the excursion booking person who took the information for our excursion and will add it for us and then send us a confirmation.

I guess we will see what happens with all these excursions. I hope we all get on the 9am pirate excursion.
