The Weather Channel is talking about the effect on the cruise lines. They have pictures of DCL.

I have a feeling that Charley was nothing!

My rule of thumb on the wine: I'm only bringing it for you guys to try if it's something I would buy and drink.

I bring my own wine on the ship and will pack a few extra bottles for the Wine Party. It is wine I buy from "my wine guy". I'll throw in a bottle of white and a nice red. After all, it's a small price to pay to get DW finally in a suite.

We are all boarded up waiting for Frances. Now it is just the waiting. In fact, I just opened a nice bottle of wine to pass the time. No reason to suffer while waiting.

Jim & Sharon, and our other FL friends, take care! I guess it looks like Frances will land well south of you. So no evacuation to Ginny Springs, eh? Actually, looks like Ginny Springs might be in the path, from what I remember of its location.

Stacey, you do drink it straight, don't you?

JIm, I just read on another thread that there's a mandatory evacuation for tomorrow for Daytona Beach. Is that wrong?

VERO BEACH???? OH NO......................

I was just on the wftv.com website and as of 5 p.m. eastern time, they are predicting it to come ashore right at Vero Beach.

Hope Disney built the resort well! It is one of our favorite places to go after spending time at WDW.

Linda

I hope they built it well too! We own there and plan to spend the night there on 12/17!

Okay everyone, I'm headed out of the office and headed down to Lake Powell.

I will be thinking of all our eastern coast friends and praying for the best. Hopefully, when we return Monday evening the news will be wonderful and the hurricane never made it to shore.

Have a great holiday everyone!

Linda

Have fun, Linda....smooth sailing!

Diana....you are really trying to give me a bad reputation. Yes, I will, if forced, drink the champagne straight! If I had to, I could drop my own sugar cube into it! (That's about all it takes to make it a champagne cocktail)

Was listening to the news while waiting for the school bus....they say if you are south of the eye of the hurricane, you're in good shape. If you are north of the eye (I guess when it hits land?) then you will have some bad effects from the different wind patterns battling eachother.
I hate this. I can't seem to quit watching and waiting. And I'm clear across the country!

You are correct. However, it is for beach side only. We are not affected as we are about 5 miles from the beach.

Right now the weather is perfect. The kids just got out of the pool. You would never know a hurricane is coming. I understand why 50 years ago these storms were so dangerous.

We have our tanks and dive buddies all lined up for Ginnie Springs on Sunday or Monday so depending on what happens there may still be a dive in the weekend. After all it is a holiday weekend.

Off to cook dinner, course out of the refrig since we are trying to use up all the foods that could go bad first without power

We should be on the north side, but we try not to watch to much about it. It will drive you nuts. Once you do everything you can, you just try to make the best of it and not worry to much. We will watch movies (as long as the power holds out). Last time at least we had the Olympics.

It is helpful knowing when the hurricanes updates are coming. You can watch those and than go back to having fun, and another bottle of wine.

Thoughts and prayers go out from us in Canada to those living in the path of the hurricane.
Us Canadians can't imagine the severity of these storms as we do not experience them.
The last one was Hurricane Hazel in 1956, before I was born.
It was a real fluke of nature that it progressed so far into the interior of the continent.
Several firefighters died in the line of duty that night.

Please take care and evacuate if there is the slightest chance of it coming your way.
It is apparent that many people did not evacuate two weeks ago where many people lost their lives.

HEY.......THAT WAS MY POST # 2222!!!!

Well - some people in this world are just ********. I just got off the phone with the father of one of Kristin's friends. Kristin (DD19) worked all summer helping get this friend's grandmother's house into shape so that they could move into it this fall. He faxed me the lease today - and this "friendly" lease has joint and several liability in it. I just can't believe some people - and what they try to pull over on others......

I'd go on and on - but would probably be censored.....

I'll be back later when I cool down...

Boy, buddy....you are really asking for it! Come follow me around for a week....you'd die from exhaustion.
I didn't go to the office today....but I spent almost 9 hours doing 50 million loads of laundry. (Okay, part of that is because I was out of town...but that's beside the point)

I'm going wherever Virgil went until I calm down.
