Happy Wednesday everyone!

Gone for 2 days and have tons to catch up on. DS and I went to Bethany Beach DE with my neighbor for her sons belated birthday. They have a town house there. Luckily we had beautiful weather because rain at the beach with 4 11 yrs old boys would not have been fun.

Stacey-I keep telling myself that 100 days is plenty of time to lose weight. Not working so far.

Lisa- sorry to hear you won't make Hershey. I think we are still on. I have ressies at the Hilton Garden Inn Hershey. I tried the Springhill suites, but they were booked. Not too many other choices either. DS has a soccer game at 1pm on Sunday, but I think we can get up early and make it fine. He will miss practice on Friday, so I still have to discuss this all with them. WE will make a final decision soon. Lisa I will let you know when we do and see if you still need to sell tickets. WE would only need 3 though because DH will be out of town and not joining us.

We are staying at the Poly 3 nights after the cruise and are also considering the CP to see Gary. WE just can't decide wether to buy the dinner package or take a chance on getting seats. Diana we would possibly be interested in a fireworks crusie, so let me know if you get one.

We still have not decided on the 17th. Currently have ressies at both the RAdisson and Embassy Suites Oralndo Airport. We love the Radisson, but think transportation will be easier from Embassy suites since we do not have a car this trip. I priced rentals and they are outrageous, but I will keep checking. We can get a 3 trip limo for $350 so that seems like the better choice and easier to go straight from the Embassy to the port with all the luggage.

Can you tell I have a hard time making decisions??? Sam doesn't want to focus on this cruise until he returns from his trip on the 25th. I told him that was fine, but then we had to make serious plans, especially about excursions.

Gary- We want shirts, just need to look at the choices again and make a decision. Will let you know ASAP.

WEll, off to do some final back to school shopping. Yes we are still waiting to start school.

Have a great day everyone!!

Just poking you a bit.

I "love" that heavy texture. Just boggles my mind why people would do that. Make dusting a real chore, and hard to hang pictures and of course makes painting a really fun!!

Not to mention cleaning dirt out of the crevices. It is nice to look at...there are a lot of long, flat areas that resemble the mountains around here, and I think that was her goal....plus it doesn't look anything like anyone else's ceiling or walls!

You all know me.....I like being different!

If you want the best results then; get all the dust off the wall and float over the entire surface to be redone, retexture and then paint.

Ok, when you say "retexture" you just mean smooth it out? I think of texture as having some kind of....well, texture. But I'm guessing in this case it's a "smooth texture" I'm looking for, right?

I did "texture" my family room walls b/c after the wallpaper came off in there the walls were so damaged it was easier to slop on the mud than remud the huge room and sand it. I even incorporated a hidden mickey into the texture. :)

Ok, my last question (yeah, right) I can cover the whole room with an ordinary putty knife, right? Or do I need a special tool since I"m doing such a large area. And next question (see, told you that wouldn't be my last question) can I use that "lightweight spackle" that doesn't need sanding??

I'm feeling MUCH better about this project now, thank you, tinksdad!!!!

If the wallpaper paste residue is still there, then that needs to be completely cleaned off first. I thought you had already talked about that.

Yeah, I got that all off yesterday, as far as I can tell. Nothing is sticky. Everything looks "clean"

I was posting a reply about my thick texturing, I must have clicked Submit at the same time as Tina, because my post isn't there. Wow, that's the first time I've seen that happen!

Leave it to me to do something odd!

Tina, no problem on the tickets, just let me know if you can use any of them. Have you tried the Country Inn and Suites in Harrisburg? They had AAA rates of $100 a night which includes breakfast. They have an indoor pool too.

Heavy texture. Our first house had very heavy textures. I never did paint it. We sold it instead!!! I also just used the first owner's nail holes for pictures. If there wasn't a nail hole there, I didn't need to put something up there. It also had rough sawn Cedar trim boards. Dusting those was no fun.

Linda, have fun on the lake this weekend.

Our family room ceiling, and the wall behind our bed are rough wood like that. I vacuum them. I also vacuum the rock wall that surrounds the family room fireplace. It's all stone removed from the property during excavation. These people had great ideas (lots of stained glass, too) but she NEVER cleaned.....and I do mean NEVER. I had to hire a crew just so that we could move in. So they obviously didn't think about that aspect as they were building.

Hidden Mickey texture! I need to offer that now LOL.

Most homes that use sheetrock/drywall have a texture that helps to "hide" the small imperfections the the taping and beding process might have (basically sloppy workmanship, but that's a different story --- don't get me started). I like a light texture: Orange Peel; Applied with a pneumatic sprayed hopper, or a light Broque texture; Applied with a dual bristle brush, works best for walls. A knock down texture is typically used on most ceilings. In a lot of areas, Kitchen and Baths have no texture, thus making the walls smooth. Imperfections can, and will show through. Use your judgment and pick something you can live with and will be easy to clean in the bathroom.

If you don't want to buy a texture tool, you can use a thick napped roller or a sponge and get a desirable effect with a little practice and patience. Don't forget, if you don't like it, you can just sand it off and start over. NOTE: the thickness of the texture compound will make a difference in the look of the texture.

Hope this doesn't confuse you more.

No, it doesn't confuse me--too much. I'm just wishing Albuquerque wasn't so far from Ohio. I'd hire you to come do this for me in a heartbeat!!!

I don't care too much about imperfections. I'd rather have it DONE with slight imperfections than NOT DONE. My mom is one to not do something because it might be imperfect. I'm like my dad, I'd rather just finish it even if it's not perfect. :) I even figured if there were too many imperfections in it, then I'd sponge paint it--that hides A LOT!

Run a roller through drywall mud and "paint it on?" Maybe I'll just go with smooth. :)

What's your thoughts on that lightweight spackle? Good for lightly covering a room or would you go with the heavier "mud?"

I'll be so excited to show you pictures of this!!

Originally there wasn't going to be a hidden Mickey. I originally thought, as I was sloppily applying mud, that I'd someone put my initials in the wall. Then the thought hit me that a hidden Mickey would be better.

WVMD found it when he came here. :)

I feel for you. When we took possession of this place it was filthy!! It took me days and days to clean it before we could move in. I didn't even get it all done, but I only allowed us to use those rooms that had been cleaned. My vacuum cleaner actually blew up b/c of the amount of crap I sucked up into it!! I'm sure this woman never cleaned along the baseboards b/c I used a whisk broom to clean the area out and got mounds and mounds of hair and dirt!!

Ironically, I was talking with the neighbors recently and mentioned our central vac. She told me "Oh, yes, Angie Bennett had that installed b/c she was fanatical about keeping things clean. She could not stand DIRT." Hmmmm....maybe that's why she sold the house and moved out! Between the dirt and the truckloads of their personal belonging they left in the house and shed, it was not a good beginning at this house!

But now, I feel pretty confident that *most* of the dirt is *our dirt* and I'm OK with that! Although I'm having trouble adjusting to dog hair.

Speaking of dog....I have to take the baby to the vet at 3:00. She's had a little bit of a runny nose since Sunday with some sneezing. Today it's more copius and yellow and she's laying around more and not eating as well. I think she has "BackToPuppyClass-itis"

I know I'm starting to like her more b/c I'm truly concerned about this. Honestly for the first couple of weeks my thought would have been "good, maybe this will kill her."

:duck: Ducking flames, because after my last two puppies, I can totally relate to that feeling! LOL

Yep, Frances is projected to go right over Castaway Cay, land at Port Canaveral, then head straight to WDW. Looks like this hurricane doesn't like the Mouse! (or maybe it does) :(

Back from the vet. She's not dying. She either has a bacterial infection (which requires pills and time) or she has something up in her nose (which requires a scope!)

Killed me on the pills....10 for $40. It's the same drug I've had for a urinary tract infection, 20 pills for $8! But at least we could combine this sick visit with a well check and shots.

So I wonder if the Wonder will bepicking up the CM's at Castaway Cay tomorrow, like they did when we sailed during Isabel?
That would mean no CC for the Magic on Friday. At least the CM's would be safe.....I hope it doesn't make a total wreck of the island.
I've wished that I lived in Florida, but maybe not so much anymore.

All done with my work. It bugs DH. It used to take him 2 days to do the end of the month books. Takes me two hours. And we don't use a computer at all. It was a big month last month, too. I just move fast.
So why should that bug him? Shouldn't he be glad that I am quick & efficient? Oh well.

So, Minnie....did they look in her nose? I guess I thought if something were up there, they could see it??

And what's up with the cost of pet meds, anyway? There's no reason they should cost more than ours, but they do......

We have a pharmacy about 30 miles from us that only does pet meds, and they're cheaper than the vet. They also deliver (so cool!) and with each order comes a chew toy. It was almost fun when one of thedogs was sick. (I said almost)
