Just finished Pirates of the Carribean. Trying to get in the mood for the cruise.

We do have a minor emergency here. The storm is about to arrive and I'm almost out of margarita mix! It might get ugly now.
Just pass the torch buddy, we've got mix o' plenty.. LOL Be happy to share the load.

Good evening everyone! :wizard:
Well... so far no more damage... from DH or Frances. Every once in a while we get one of the outer bands passing thru.... but nothing as dramatic as they are showing on TV from the coast. This storm is determined to wreck the entire holiday weekend. Now WDW is closed tomorrow as well. I may go insane without some sort of Mickey fix! I can't stand being within reach of the Magic Kingdom and not being able to get my Dole Whip!!

What I should be doing is listing stuff on Ebay to raise money for Jessie's treatment. I do not want to have to cancel any cruises!! I"m going to start with a few pins and work my way up to bigger stuff. Any tips anyone? Will I be better off if I have a PayPal account that takes credit cards?? If so, do you add the fees on to the price? Ahhh so many questions. Any help from Ebay veterans would be appreciated. I mostly buy stuff... not sell.

Is the Handsome Handyman home? I have a question. Not about the toilet seat, that's done. Piece of cake.
The people who built this house missed a small area in my water closet when they textured. We have always thought it was kind of amusing.....but now I don't think it's amusing anymore. And I'm in a fix-it mode. I have a small tub of Patch-N-Paint, lightweight spackling. Is this what I can use?
Thank you, Mr. Handsome. Or is it Mr. Handyman?
When put that nicely, your assured of getting the desired response.

The Patch-n-Paint is a fast drying spackling compound for filling nail and screw holes. Good stuff for that, but lousy for texture. (thinking) Although the mental image of you trying is QUITE amusing. LOL!!

What does the texture look like in the rest of the house? Are we talking walls or ceiling here?

Right now... my DH has caused more damage than the hurricane. He is painting... or attempting to.
So far he's slipped off the ladder and fallen onto the fake mantle/fireplace and broken it apart, taking several Disney collectibles with him :( Then a while ago he flipped the paint tray off the ladder and all over the room.
I told him it's now time to STOP before he wrecks the place. Usually he's very good at this stuff... but today has not been a good day...LOL

Yea, sometimes your the windshield and sometimes your the bug!

I always loved the sign of posted labor rates at the mechanic:

$50/hr
$75/hr if you watch
$100/hr if you worked on it first

Stacey - not sure but I think you have to log out and clear your cookies. Sometimes it takes more than once for this to happen. Then she can log in on her own. Mark and I have this problem when we share the notebook on trips. Also if someone doesn't log off properly at the internet cafe on the ship you can find yourself posting as someone else.

I agree. Another way you can go about it using Internet Explorer is by going to tool bar and clicking on Tools=> Internet Options => Delete Cookies. That should do it, in fact it's a good idea to do that, plus clear out Temporary files every so often. All those old urls and cookies slow down your computer some.

Thank you, Mr. Handsome.....you are a veritable fountain of information. I lost my urge to do any more repais today, anyway.
Guess I'll go to Home Depot tomorrow and get the correct stuff.

The space that they didn't texture is about 2" wide, from baseboard to ceiling on a wall between a built-in cabinet and the water closet door jamb.
I'll probably have to do multiple layers to get it to look like the rest of the thick texture, but it's waited this long, it can take me a month to finish and it won't matter.

This is all Ohiominnie's fault. She got me started thinking about repairs.

And I didn't even know I HAD cookies. I would have eaten them by now. I'll follow your directions, and see if that works.

Thanks!

gaRy -
We haven't blown out to sea, yet. Please add us to the list. We've been w/out power since 11 am lots of rain and hard wind. Just wanted to check in - they still say the eye will hit about 50 miles north of us, but we are def also feeling it. Hate it now that it's dark - during the day, everything somehow feels safer. Gotta go - Boyd just plugged in the generator to cool off the fridge. gonna let it run for another hour and then it's back to darkness. We need lots of pixie dust!!!!!

Sounds like you've got what we call "knockdown" texture. You need to wrap a small piece of wood (small enough to get into the space you want textured) with plastic. We use a plastering hock for this and install dense foam between the metal hock and the plastic. But for your needs you can probably get away with no foam. Dilute the joint compound just a bit and dip the "texture tool" into the mud getting just a light coating on it. Dab the mud on the wall, the plastic will pull out the compound and make little peaks. Continue this until your done trying to match the thickness previously used.

Now let this dry for about 15min to 20min depending, and then take your drywall knife, aka trowel and light knock the peaks of the mud down on the wall. You just want to flatten the high points and leave some "valleys".
Let dry and then prime and paint.

Now, the next thing your going to ask yourself is if all this is worth it? Eat a couple of those cookies to augment your fortitude and have at it.....

Wow, Cindy, sounds really bad! Hang in there, kids, and check back when you can. And don't get that generator too close to the house, I'm learning all kinds of things watching the Weather Channel today.

Leslie, you can PM me with Ebay questions, I'll try to help. Yes, accepting Paypal helps mucho grande. Start your auctions at the minimum you will take for the item plus about 20% for fees, but do check closed auctions first. If they aren't going to sell for what you want, no sense wasting listing fees on them. Also helps to tell how much you want to ship the item, some folks won't even look unless that is in the listing. Also helps to have some feedback when you start selling. If you've been buying, you should have some.

Cindy - stay safe. Wow you are dedicated posting without power! Sounds like something DH would do if he could.

We are keeping you and all the other Florida DIS'ers in our prayers!

I'm at home...I don't leave my cell phone on when I'm at home.

Thanks, HH....(tinksdad).....I could picture perfectly what you were saying. That sounds a whole lot easier than the last wall I did. Layer after layer.....

Cindy, Leslie, Scubadiver.....take care down there! We'll leave a light on!

Hi everyone. Happy Saturday.

We just got in a little while go. We took DS to Chucky Cheese and DD is at a sleep over. DS had such a good time.

Thinking of you all in Flordia and sending our prayers and thoughts along with pixie dust. I am watching CNN as I am writing this. Our friends left WDW on Thursday and could not get a flight out so they drove 17 hours on I-95 to get to Georgia and flew out of Atlanta which they had to take two connections to get to NY. They said the traffic was bumber to bumber and they could not even stop to go to the bathroom as the road was so jammed packed. Most of our family is in the Ft. Lauderdale area and they are all together at one home in Ft. Lauderdale.

Diana, I sent you an e mail. Did you get it???? I sent you a pm as I hope the e mail went through.
