Had a big suprise today. DD5 has lice. Ewww Have done all the treatments and am having no fun combing her hair. She hates to have her hair brushed anyway. What is the purpose in life of these little critters? yuk yuk yuk and ewwww.

Hi everyone - just checking in to say hello.

I am just thinking about whether to have some baskets done for the boys for when we check into our stateroom - anyone done this?

We've decided on 'do it ourselves' excursions as I think it will suit us so I haven't booked anything.

I think I read somewhere that you can leave the kids on the ship when you go ashore - does DCL do this? Not that I don't want to take mine with me but they don't always want to come.

I decided to get to the port early for sail day as we'll be flying in the previous day and still on UK time we might aswell make the most of it and get a good look round at Port Canaveral.

It still seems a long way off but at least with being able to check in on this thread it makes it seem a bit closer.

Hey Virgil, that sounds like fun. Our neighborhood does that at Halloween. Tha Phanton trick ot treater. Someone leaves a trick or treat bag of goodies on someones door and its up to those people to refill and doorbell ditch the bag at someone elses door. Otherwise the curse of the phanton trick or treater will be upon you. (scary music)
I'de say go Chargers but come on...have you all seen their history? Oh well theres always room for change right? Cheers-D

Virgil - sorry to hear your team didn't win. I'm used to disappointment. After all I live in Chicago - home of the Cubs! Enough said.

Angela - you can leave the kids in the clubs when you go ashore. The beepers won't work on shore however. I think they do ask that you let them know you are going ashore so they know why you might not be answering. I would think it is up to each parent to decide how long they can be away from their child. I've heard some children love the clubs and wouldn't miss their parents at all while others might want to start paging you after only a short time.

Good Morning Holiday Cruisers !!!!!

Denise - I know your pain. DD did that several several years ago (2nd grade) bad part was she had very long hair. It was a nightmare combing through that. I still cringe when I think about it. Like Virgil said the metal tooth comb is a must. Thoughts of Kojak did enter my mind as I sat hour after hour combing through all of her hair.

STACEY !!!! Welome back! Sorry you didn't win loads of money but glad you had a great time!! I wouldn't have minded having everything comped it either - makes for a slightly less expensive vacation or Gives you more to gamble with.

Virgil sorry your team didn't win Michigan did!!!! GO BLUE!!!!!

I'm having a quiet day, family is off to the lake again. I think I'm getting a bit too much "me" time. Ah well, there's lots to do. We leave Thursday!

Yes, we did a basket for our first cruise. Got them from Shirley. We didn't get a standard basket, we just asked for certain things to be thrown in. Turned out it was quite big by the time it was done. Because it was mix and match I didn't have a final price before we sailed. Got home to the credit card bill and it was $100! Next time I get a standard basket! We also had the card signed "From Mickey and Minnie" so the kids thought they got it for them. Surprisingly, the girls at Shirley's didn't know how to spell Minnie. It ended up "from Mickey and Mini." Luckily it was in somewhat sloppy cursive so my dd didn't pick up on it. We immediately threw away the tag.

Also, we have left our kids on the ship and done excursions. We did a walking tour or Key West and the kids had NO desire to go on that. We've also gotten off the ship at other ports just to walk around a bit. What we do is just let the counsellors know we're leaving and what time we expect to be back--that way they know not to expect you if they try to page you. And as soon as we're back on the ship we stop in and let them know we're back. Typically the kids response is "great, but I still don't want to leave the club."

Well, state up north won't have to focus on beating the Bucks to upset their perfect season this year. The Bucks upset their own perfect season last night by playing like a bunch of pee-wee football kids!!

(I am unable to type the true name of the "state up north" because I will owe a quarter--that word is considered profanity in our house during football season)

I guess we'll have to drown our sorrows on the cruise.....

Thanks everyone. It was Shirley's baskets I was looking at - they just look such a cool idea.
I much prefer to spend time with my boys taking them on excursions but on our last cruise all they did was moan because they had to leave the kids club. On P&O you have to take them with you when you go ahore so they had no choice. I think I will still try to persuade them to come along. They will have 'sign out' so I wonder if any restriction is put on that if the club know we're not on the ship.
