I find that whole "Goth" thing REALLY outrageous! Of course this is what the kids that participate in that behavior are after. To shock the parent generation. Quite frankly, it cracks me up. I start laughing at them. Not the "desired" effect.

I heard a quote from a report about the new fall fashions; The slut look was out! Thank heavens for small favors!!:sunny: I'm VERY glad our daughter/s does not want that look. I would have to become a bigger meanie at that point, I'm sure!!

Kevin, I agree with you on this one (even though you don't believe Sharon get's rose pedals every weekend). We have been lucky too, and I wonder how much of that is because we are involved with our kids. I'll let others debate that, but I know it works for us.

Jeanne has finally left the state and we are back in operation. We only lost power for a couple of hours last night. I actually enjoyed the time when we are out of power because it is so quiet. No tv, PS2, computers...everyone just sits around by candle light reading books. Some day I am going to throw some breakers just so I get the house nice and quiet (of course I will leave the A/C running. No reason to suffer).

It looks like I can take the plywood down this weekend. It's the little things that provide all the excitement.

Stacey - I agree with you about the whining. Staying away from those threads. I've been acused too many times of having rose colored glasses on. :D

gaRry - you have become king of the tops lately! :D

Jim - glad to hear things are calming down. Here's to a weekend of sunshine, calm seas and maybe even a dive!

Hey all - Wacko Type A personality here... :upsidedow Has anyone figured out how much the crew tips will be for this extended voyage of ours? I'm trying to tweak my trip budget and WOW, :earseek: , is it still high! So I'm trying to drop costs where ever I can, but still have enough money for the important things, like tipping the crew.

Thanks!

Kara

Based on taking the 7 day rates and dividing it by 7 here is what I come up with as a daily rate:

Per Guest per cruise per night
Dining Room Server $3.68
Dining Room Asst. Server $2.68
Dining Room Head Server $0.93
Stateroom Host/Hostess $3.68
Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion

Now just take those and multiply them by the number of nights (10 for our cruise, 14 for the canal cruises) and you should have a rough idea.

Happy Monday everyone!!

Its cloudy and overcast here today. Expecting to get some rain. Hope it doesn't too much with the big Monday Night Football game here. Redskins vs Cowboys. We went to their last game in the snow, sleet and rain. Will be watching from home tonight.

Dee- we have done the Golden Eagle in St Maarten. It was a blast. Actually thought about doing it again. DS did get seasick on the way and did not enjoy the snorkeling very much. Be happy to answer any questions you have.

I am trying to find horseback riding in Antigua. DCL only offers this as an excursion in St Lucia, but we are doing the pirate thing and don't think there is time for both. Maybe I will go check out the cruise critic boards. I did read on one of their tourist sites that they have several stables.

hope this helps

Thanks Mary Thanks Mary Thanks Mary Thanks Mary

I figured out the tips by adding the tips from the 7 day and the tips for the 3 day together. For the 6 of us (In-laws too), I came up with $675 for tips. Yes, it's a lot of money, but I figured out that it's just slightly more than $10 a person a day and that's really not that much.

And boy do I agree with the whining on the threads. Now someone's brought the fire cruise back up and is complaining that they didn't get enough compensation. Boy you can't please some people.

I broke the rules and read the whine threads. This time I didn't post to them though. I think it's kind of funny how so many people have that "entitlement" attitude. I guess really not that funny. I thought they got a pretty sweet deal. A night at the swan/dolphin, buffet breakfast and 50% off a future cruise. The cruise discount would have been enough for me. Sure it was inconvenient, but what else could DCL do?

Anyway, I'm staying out of those discussions. Not contributing to those. Nope, nope, nope.

I booked our excursions today. I can't remember what we booked for where though.

It was funny when I called though. I forgot my confirmation number at home, but I figured they could look it up for me so I called anyways. The CM punches in our information and says "well, it's a little early to be booking them. We wait until you're paid in full." So I told her I paid in full last week (which I did). She said "well, you're paid in full date isn't until June 20, 2005, so you have to wait a little longer to book them." It took me a minute to think about it (I'm a little slow today), and I realized that she pulled up our repo cruise and not the 10 day cruise. So I told her that I was actually calling about the 10 day. She put me on hold for about 30 seconds and booked my excursions. It was my laugh for the day. Not much going on in my life, is there?

Tomorrow is concert #1 of 3 and Wednesday is #2 of 3. Then we have a week before we head to the World for concert #3 of 3 and the food and wine festival.:hyper: I'm excited, can you tell?::yes::

Stacey........today is sunny and 22 degrees Celcius.

I think thats about 70 in F.

Hope to spend some time in your parts in the winter when it is very, very, very cold here.
