Mary, way to go on that treadmill! That's something I've not done as regularly as I should now that school's out. I fell asleep at 7 last night! It was storming though, so I couldn't have walked anyway.

And we're going to Hershey Park. Guess I'd better start looking for hotel ressies, huh? I know I'm going to turn around and school will be starting!

Good Morning.....off to work early this a.m.

We got the list for school supplies in the mail yesterday. And it just figures, since I was in town (Phoenix) at Office Max yesterday, before I got the mail! We have a Target up here, but they don't carry as many of the items needed.
We have to buy all new stuff every year because our kids don't get to keep their own supplies....they all go into the teacher's cabinet and become "group" supplies. I guess it's because of the kids whose parents can't afford to buy supplies. I learned a long time ago not to buy the expensive markers, crayons and pens!
It's the things like scissors that I don't understand....don't the teachers keep those? Why do we pay for new ones all the time?
Oh well.
I will only have a few days after we get back from Omaha to get their supplies (Target may have to do) before I head to WDW, and right after that, school starts again. Time flies.

I have a treadmill. Maybe I should use it!

Good Morning All!

Thank you all so much for all your thoughts and prayers. I really, really appreciate it.

Sorry I didn't report in last night but it was late when we got home and a very draining day. Mom came through surgery really well and is doing good this morning. She was in surgery for about 4 hours and they kept her in recovery all night since they did not have a bed in ICU. Now all we have to do is get her well and get her home then we can move forward with the next steps. I didn't say much earlier but Mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer so they took the tumor out and now she will have to have chemo. So she has a long road ahead of her but we keep praying it will not be too bad and she will be with us for a long time still.

Stacey - you are too funny and so sweet. I am blushing now. It is going to be so much fun watching all those girls on the ship. You are the one who is a blast to be around. We are going to have so much fun and DCL is not going to know what hit them. It's a good thing they don't have slot machines though or we would never see you.

Linda - I think we will start a sign up sheet, maybe with a picture of all the kids then we will pass it around to all the DISers on board and tell them this is the neighborhood watch list so be on the lookout. Won't our kids just love us.

Leilani-glad to hear your mom made it okay through surgery. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She did all the chemo and stuff too. Luckily, she caught it early. You make me think that I need to be good and go see my doctor for one of those lovely womanly exams!

We were going to try to come to Hershey Park in September, but on Monday my trip to New York that following week was cancelled, so my "Free" business airfare went out the door. I'll have to do some checking on airfares from west to east to see if there are any deals.

Okay, got to get some work done!

Leilani, that's wonderful news about your Mom. And I'm glad you're able to stay longer and be with her.

Count us in for the Neighborhood Watch sheet! Wouldn't that help all of us relax a little more and quit worrying if we knew that our kids know they're being watched? They won't remember what all the DIS'ers look like, it would keep them on their best behavior! Not that I'd expect any of you to really pull out a sheet or make a note, it's just the threat of it that counts. I think we should actually make one up for just that reason.

So, when's the next trip? GaRy, are you joining us at Adventurer's Club for sure? How about Cindy? I just know that Stacey is going to wind up as part of the show! I've decided that other miscellaneous trips is a great way to make the cruise wait fly by!

You probably "jinxed" me, Diana!!! Actually, I'll bet it's my DD Megan who ends up "interacting"..... You will really like her, she's a super nice girl!

LeiLani - thanks for checking in. Glad to hear things went well.

I'm a 14 year survivor of ovarian cancer so if you ever need someone to talk to just let me know. I can tell you that the chemo drugs they use now are much better and with less side effects than the ones I had (found that out from the doctor treating my Mom for lung cancer).

You and your Mom will continue to be in my prayers. She'll get through this!

LeiLani: I'm so glad the surgery went well. My MIL (who's coming on the cruise with us), also had ovarian cancer about 12 years ago. She's completely recovered, and leads a very active life for someone in her mid-70s. It is scary though! Hope you can get some rest and enjoy the rest of the visit with her! Lisa

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. You guys are so special and it is so nice to have people to "chat" with, even if they are on the internet and I haven't met most of them. Mom is still doing good. She is in ICU so we have restriced visiting hours but she is awake and alert and all her vitals are good. So far, so good.

Diana - I agree with you we should make up a list just so the kids think we have people keeping an eye on the them. If anyone really wants to do this let me know and I will take care of it.

I was thinking we could email a picture of our kid with their name and age and we could have a "DisBoards Most Wanted Watch List" and each of us could show our kids the sheet and tell them that they are being "watched"!

That would make my daughter think twice!!!!!

There you go, Lynda!!! We can tell them all that Cash is also a trained "search & rescue" dog....and that we will have him hunt them down!!!

Well, LeiLani, you have pictures of 3 of the most notorious.....get that Wanted Poster started!!! Let's see, the list of teen/preteen girls......Virgil has one, GaRry has one, Linda has one, Lisa has one... who else???
Too bad we don't have an "in" with a higher-up CM....we could have them run their pictures on the TV screens, like an "Amber Alert"!!!

It wasn't DD I had to go search for on the night that we were being tossed around by Hurricane Isabel....it was DS!
Maybe we should have a list of the boys, too.

Going back to my packing. Just wanted to say hi!!

LeiLani - I'm glad to hear all went well for yor Mom.

I'm glad my kids are all grown and I'm especially glad my DD isn't coming with us. We sent her down to Cabo as a HS graduation present last month and found out she was in a bikini contest down there! It still pains me to think what went on!
