Looking forward to the cruise!

Ken

Ken - nothing wrong with lurking. I thought Diana was referring to a particular cruiser - that's why I gave her the wink smilie.

Of course now that you've posted twice in one day we want to see more from you :D

Before I go, I thought I'd try to redeem myself by offering something helpful.

The site that Diana (congrats on your T.O.P. by the way!) and I ordered snorkel stuff from has a sunscreen with a repellant in it for sea lice and jellyfish stings! I think it's 45 SPF.

The site is www.leisurepro.com

Stacey

Stacey - is that safe sea? or is it sea safe? We picked some up at Ron Jon's before our May '02 cruise. Works great!

Mary,
ohiomickey sent you pictures....did you get them?

WHAT?!?!?
We want the ladies to join us. I hope they are able to come with you. If not we can handle you guys just fine.

Stacey, maybe gaRry and DS can split the cost of one of the suites at the GF then you both can say you stayed there :hyper: :teeth: .

Got them and was just logging on to annouce they are up!

New addition to the photo gallery. Come and see ohiomickey,
ohiominnie, and their beautiful children.

Also we have pictures from another DIS meet as ohiomickey & ohiominnie meet WVMD.

Lot's of meeting and greeting going on! I love it!

No, I wasn't just talking about Ken! I know there are others out there! Come out, come out, wherever you are! Ken was a good catch, though. Now you have to post more.

We are having a monsoon here in NM. It rained two days in a row! Of course, today was only some sprinkling for about 15 minutes. But they call it a monsoon here, honest.

So, I'm thinking of driving to Las Vegas. It's about 500 miles, and there are folks I can caravan with for the trip there. I got to thinking it would save me about $700 that could better be spent on the cruise, between flights and a rental car. I'm not that fond of driving though, but we will have Harry Potter book 4 or 5 on audio to keep us occupied.

Linda, you're really making me want to visit the Disney Store this week. And we really don't need anything!

Just got home from the ball game.....D-Backs lost again. I guess I wasn't the support they needed! We had a blast, though. We ate dinner in the Clubhouse....a real, sit-down dinner! Very posh....and it seems funny that it's at a ballpark. I tried to sneak into the locker room, but the guards can run faster than I can!

Yes, Mary, it's Safe Sea, but now it also has a sunscreen in it. It didn't used to.

jilljill...........Are you suggesting that the four of us SHARE a room???? What do you suppose Vicki would have to say about that? Besides, I snore!

Diana....I didn't realize that the flights from your area to Las Vegas would be so expensive! I can get mine for $70.00 Wow.

Guess I'd better head for bed.

TERIFFIC TUESDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!

Good night!
Stacey

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Terrific Tuesday Morning Everyone!

I'm running late this morning - must have fallen back to sleep :o

Stacey - I always thought safe sea had a sunscreen in it. I think ours had a 30. Either way I think we might be low or out. I'll have to check out that site and order more before our cruise.

So Diana posted the question: "what do you think you want to do on St. Lucia?"

I've done a little reading and it sounds like the shopping areas are very convenient to the ship and very modern. So I'm sure we'll do a little shopping - a polo shirt for Mark and a t-shirt for me. Our usual postcards, magnets, etc.

Frommer's lists one shore excursion done by the cruise ships as a land and sea one that starts with a catamaran ride past the Pitons and then goes via mini-bus to the Diamond baths (warm mineral baths). Sounds fascinating.

We'll definately wait to see what Disney offers. We really don't explore a lot on our own - especially at a port we've never been at. I know many do with great success, but I just don't trust our luck.

So how about everyone else. What do you plan to do in St. Lucia.

Morning all. Sounds like the normal day around here. Stacey, it's a good thing that you make your fun wherever you go, because I can't remember you ever posting that the D-backs have won despite the many times you go to watch! Yet, you still always go back! I have to admit, I'm usually a fair weather fan. I'll go to a ball game occasionally, but unless my hometown team is on a winning streak, I usually don't follow them. Bad Lisa! And our current local teams (Orioles, Redskins, and whatever they renamed the Bullets - maybe the Wizards?) and the teams where I grew up (Colts and Pacers) I think I've only been a fan for about 2 seasons in my life! I definitely remember the Pacers' big run for the playoffs in something like 94 or 95 though. Watched almost every game on TV.

Anyway, I survived getting Mom. Her flight got in a bit early, and we took the metro downtown to see some sights. We visited the WW2 memorial, the Vietnam, the Lincoln and the Korean monuments. Washington monument tickets were all gone, but we did walk up to it, and looked at the White House from the outside. Then we went through the American History museum. I had forgotten how detailed my mom gets in those museums. She has to read every card in every case. DD was really getting antsy! We stopped in Alexandria for dinner, and made it home about 9:30. DH said that DS had called home from camp because he was homesick. He said he was crying on the phone, so we may have to go get him. A guy I work with is down there, and he let him call. I know the leaders said they wouldn't let any of the kids call until Wed, so I think this phone call was probably a mistake. I hope that he gets busy and forgets all about being homesick. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I know I prayed hard last night!

Well, need to go. Have a great day everyone. And Ken, it was good to hear from you.

That's how we are too. Although I know Disney prices can be higher than booking on your own (esp now that dd will be turning 10 soon) we prefer the excursions where we're SURE we have transportation and everything is figured out. Maybe someday we'll try something on our own. Not yet though.

We have sunscreen in our Safe Sea. Although, we ONLY use it on those areas that jellyfish babies may bother. I don't lather up arms or legs with it because it's like rubbing Desitin into your skin!!

Poor little guy. I can SO relate! In fact, when I was a kid I'd go on these sort of things, but I'd usually volunteer my mom to go too. "Camp-In at Cosi?? My mom can chaperone!" "High school trip to Europe? My mom can chaperone!" So I got around a lot of my homesickness that way!

Even now, when I'm away, I stay in close contact with home.

On St. Lucia, we probably will just poke about on our own. FIL is a big history buff, so I may see if we can see some of the sights. MIL is a bit worried about heat/humidity, and since that's the furthest south, it might be the hottest. So we may not do much.

I was laying out our budget the other day, and I only have excursions set up for Key West (train/trolley), St. Thomas (Coral World), and CC (fishing for DH and maybe FIL). I really don't think our crew is going to do a lot more than that. We might try one snorkling excursion, but last time DS really freaked over it, and got really mad that we wanted him to try again, so we may just save that for CC.

I still have a bottle of sea safe that I got before our 2002 trip. We never used it then. I thought the prime season for the sea nettles was in the late spring? It's no big deal to throw it into the bag though, assuming it's still good?

Remember it is a 2 bedroom suite that is available at the GF for that weekend. There can be a boys room and a girls room. I have heard the suites are huge.

gaRry, that is very sad that DW and DD won't make it. My DD will be very sad that she won't see your DD.
Want to do Chef Mickey's on Thurs. night about 8:00?

Okay...here's how this phone call from me is going to go....

"Hello, Mom? You know that trip that Megan and I are taking to WDW? The one to meet the strangers I met on the internet? Well, it turns out that we're going to be sharing a room with a man and his son! Isn't that great?"

And then, I wouldn't get to go to WDW, because I'd be in Omaha, taking care of her, after her heart attack!

Does it seem funny that we still worry about what our parents will think, even after we're all grown up? Assuming that I AM grown up, that is!

 And good morning!!!

Lisa, it is hard to sit there and watch them lose....the D-Backs...especially since we're frustrated that they traded some good players who workd together as a team, just to get one guy who is now injured. But I'd feel like a rat if I gave up on them now. And it's such a cool place to go with the family!
We don't have all the neat historical places to visit like you guys do. I wish we did!!! Your day sounds wonderful!
I'll be thinking about your DS. I used to go to campouts, and I got sick every single time. My mom had to come get me. In looking back, I think it was an allergic reaction to the absence of room service!! LOL

I have always used Avon's Skin So Soft sunscreen/bug repellant. I guess I just assumed (dummy) that SafeSea was just a repellant. Sorry. But, yuck..if it's like Desitin, I may just us the Avon stuff! I never gave sea lice a thought, until I got them in Bonaire in November. NEVER want that again!

I LOVE the new pictures Mary put up! We really do have some great looking kids, all of us! Minnie...nice to finally "see" you! Your kids are so cute!

And Virgil.....I hope you have a shotgun or a baseball bat....Lauren is such a cutie.

As for St. Lucia....we have a speedboat hired to take us snorkeling, and then we'll look around Soufriere. It is a bit of a worry, knowing that if we have trouble and are late, we could miss the ship. We'll just have to pray alot. I guess we're used to taking trips to out-islands, and just "winging it". It will cost us more than a DCL excursion, but we definitely want to snorkel, and with the excursions, you don't get much time to do that. And we like to mingle with the locals. The owner of the boat lives in Europe, but has a house in St. Lucia that we're going to look at. We may want to rent it sometime for a longer trip.

Guess I'd best be getting moving....have a great day!

Stacey

6 DAYS.............LADIES DIS MEET IN LAS VEGAS!!!

No, really Stacey, you have a SUITE at the GF? Can we come look? We promise not to touch anything. And a charter in St. Lucia. Girl, you're moving in some pretty lofty circles!

Well, I know I will be on my own in St. Lucia. It's one of the islands that I've "allowed" DD and DH to go scuba diving on. DD wants to go at all the ports. I do need to figure out something to do, and I do want to snorkel somewhere! I have a new snorkel! Will have to figure out the nicest place to do that. Paul, isn't there somewhere we wouldn't have to jump off a boat?

Stacey, air fare to Las Vegas from Alb. came out to about $250 each, and the rental car about $175 for a week. Yeah, you're closer. But if we drive, I can take my pillow!

Has anyone found out if Coral World will be open on Christmas Day? I was trying to talk the family into diving with the Coki Beach dive club, right next to Coral World. Then I could snorkel there, and we could be together, sort of. But DH doesn't think the dive club is operating that day.

Just a note for the DVC members on this forum, in case you don't get over to the DVC board often. WDW is sending out a survey via postcard, looks like the usual after-stay survey. But THIS one, in fine print, is about possible ticket discounts for DVC members. Yay, yay, yay! So if you get a card, be sure and TAKE THE SURVEY!

Has anyone given any thought to Xmas Day and giving small gifts to the room/serving staff. I was thinking that it would be nice, but I'm not sure about what to give. I know people give phone cards and Wal-Mart cards as extra bonuses to staff, but I would like to do something different. I'm not talking huge gifts here, just a little something for them to open. Any ideas?

If any Cast Members are reading this, how about some suggestions.

Ken
