Gail - just sent you an e-mail!

I don't think all 70 people who signed up for brunch would make it to deck 7. My experience with DIS meets on board is that some people get busy with other things or just forget. I think deck 7 would work great.

Another thing that could work out if people want to get together and eat is to pick a day/time for sit-down lunch. Lunch is open seating so if say 20 of us show up together they will sit us together (maybe at a few tables). It would be a great way for those on early seating to get to spend time with those from late seating. A good alternative for the frist or second sea day.

I just think this great group will find ways to get together. I wish they could have accomodatd us and what Celebrity did for you sounds great, but if they won't they won't.

Diana-I just e mailed you again with the fax number you will need. to take care of the late dining. My advise is don't wait to long as they are starting to get busy with requests.

Ok final work on this is that as explained before in the previous note I just wrote is that they can not and will nto expand the brunch past 14 people. I just got off the phone with them again. I do not want to keep calling them as I do not want to push it any further. It is what it is.

Lets come up with a game plan and we need to all talk about the brunch. Gotta go-Guini pig #2 is on the way to the vet. they are both sick and we have only had them 3.5 months!!!!!!! I should of been a vet!!! When we take animals in we all get so attached here!!!! Talk to you later-Gail

Tell us about you!
Yes, I mean you!

Ok, here's one that everyone can join in on including those who mostly lurk. Here's a chance for eveyone to get to know each other. I know many of us have been posting for over a year. Some on the boards, some only via e-mail, some a combination. I know more about some than others, but I'd like to get to know all of you.

So take a few minutes and tell us about you and your family.
Who will be cruising with you in December?

What are you looking forward to the most?

Where do you live (city, state, country)?

When did you book this cruise?

Why did you pick this cruise?

Anything you would like to share.

Let's all get to know each other a little better. I'll be back at lunch time to share my answers.

BTW - we only have 38 more replies until we hit 7000 - who will be the lucky one to get it? Come on lurkers - you could hit it big! ::yes::

::MinnieMo

We are going as well. December 18, 2004. One daughter 16 and another 13. Very excited. See you all there.

First, welcome maboots! Glad to have you with us. If you're willing to share answers to Mary's questions, we'll get to know you quicker.

Who will be cruising with you in December? It's me (39, 40 on the trip), DH (44), DD (12) and DS (10, 11 on the trip), plus my hubbies parents who are in their mid 70s.

What are you looking forward to the most? Can't answer this one with just one thing. I'm looking forward to seeing St. Lucia, since that was the place we wanted to go on our honeymoon, but couldn't afford. I'm looking forward to sharing with my in-laws who are wonderful people who have NEVER done anything like this before. And I'm looking forward to seeing the beautiful ship decorated for Christmas.

Where do you live in? I think this means what state, so we live in Maryland, about as far south of DC as you can go without falling into the Chesapeake Bay.

When did you book this cruise? I think we booked in September 03. Maybe October. I know that I originally thought this cruise was in 03, and I was scrambling to come up with the $. Thank God we had an extra year to save, which let us take the in-laws with us.
Why did you pick this cruise? Because of the new destinations, and because we were able to convince the in-laws to come with us instead of stressing out to do another Christmas at home.

Great questions Mary!

:sunny: Hello!!
Gail...I sent you a PM. I'll share my thoughts on the Brunch/get-together idea: Palo Brunch for all of us is totally out. If we can't get all of us together, then what's the point?
Mary's right...we have our first meeting on Day 1. I think we should pick a sea day for our next get-together (no rushing, etc) and do it either on Deck 7 Aft, or we could take over the adult pool area, which I was thinking added a bar?? If we met during the day, there would at least be some shade there (just in case someone forgets their sunscreen;) ) I also thought that we could order cheese trays, etc from room service.
I guess I was thinking (wrong) that DCL wanted $350 or whatever it was each . That's what I get for trying to read when I'm half asleep. If it's for the whole group, and includes food then that is worth thinking about.....but only if we paid up-front. I don't blame Gail, I wouldn't want to try to track people down and ask them for money on the cruise. So maybe just going up by the pool, or out on 7 would be a better idea.
That's my more than two cents' worth.

Hey.....I SAID you GUYS! That means you "guys", too.
You are a guy, aren't you??? It wouldn't be a party without you!

You know, we could always just decide a day and time and all meet outside of Lumiere's for breakfast. That way, whoever doesn't show up, we won't have to worry about getting money and all that stuff.

And then, on cruise embarkation, a couple of more of us could each go and make reservations as close to 10:30 a.m. as possible as a separate reservation at Palo's and then we would all be there within a few minutes time of one another and hopefully get as close together as possible. (I don't remember Palo's being that huge). What do you think about that idea?

Okay, that's my five cents worth.

I like the idea of the meets. I don't feel like we should pay for extra food when I can walk out on the deck and basically get whatever I want and carry it to wherever I am going. The cheese tray idea sounds great!

Linda

(Oh, only two of us for Palo's, I didn't book the kids and grandkids. I figured it would be the only quiet (ha) time Robert and I might have on the cruise!)

Hi all - checking in at lunch.

Gail - got your call - sorry I wasn't here when you called. Crazy day again with lots of meetings.

Lisa - yes I meant what state. sorry I reworded it to get the who, what, where etc. and messed it up. I've edited since.

Linda is right - both sit-down breakfast and lunch are open seating. We just agree on a day/time and whoever is free can show up!

If we come up with a few suggestions and dates/times I'll make up a DIS navigator we can keep with and pass them out at the first meet with the buttons. You know listing the meets and whoever wants to come can.

So first day meet, breakfast or lunch meet (decide on a day/time), wine party meet (decide on a day/time/place). Sound like a plan?

I think Linda's idea about picking a day/time for Palo Brunch and everyone just try and get their own reservations sounds good. If someone can't get in, then have a backup day for them (pick two days - primary and secondary). Gail has already done so much with this and it would be a pain to have to deal with money as well.

The Fl to CA repo cruise has a nice form setup for DIS meets. You can see it at http://www.tiggerfan.net/canal/events.html

I think a meet at one of the bars during the day on Sea Days or in the late evenings would work well. If it's scheduled, then whoever can make it, will make it.

5 DAYS............LADIES DIS MEET IN LAS VEGAS!

As to Mary's questions: You all already know more about me than my own mother....but here goes:

Cruising in December will be me, Stacey, age 29, Dh Jay, age 54, DD Jordan Emily age 14, and DS Jared age 11. Okay, fine...I'm 46.

Looking forward to the most? Fighting for #1 position is seeing the different ports, meeting everyone here, and 10 full days on DCL!

We live on five acres of land, bordering a creek, with mountains behind us, in Cave Creek Arizona. Just north of Phoenix about 16 miles...but a world away. It's a tourist town...all done up Western style.

We booked this cruise in late October.

We picked this cruise because it was the longest one that DCL had offered thus far. The idea of being on the ship for that long was just so inticing. The idea of being "First" (as I had read on ohiominnie's original post) was pretty cool too.
Also, living in the desert after having grown up in snow country, Christmas just doesn't seem like Christmas, even after all these years. Not that Christmas in the Caribbean is going to be any colder.....but with all the festivites, and the lights, and the music...I think this will be the first time I will really enjoy Christmas since I moved here 25 years ago.

I just have a feeling that after having been on the Magic for 10 days, they'll have to drag me off, kicking and screaming!

Welcome maboots! Hope you stay and post with us and let us get to know you!

OK I said I would come back and give you my answers.

Who will be cruising with you in December? It will be me (47) and DH Mark (aka MarkRG) (37)

What are you looking forward to the most? I'm looking forward to celebrating the holiday Disney style. I love what they do to the parks in December and can't wait to see what they do to the ship!

Where do you live (city, state, country)? We live just north of Chicago, IL

When did you book this cruise? June of '03

Why did you pick this cruise? We heard about the rumor of a 10-day when we sailed in May of '03. Sounded very cool. When the announcement was made we loved the idea of longer cruise, and the thought of going to some brand new ports. Its the first time we'll ever be away for the holidays but I'm really looking forward to that too!

OK - here's my story

Who will be Cruising in December: Ken 50, Shari (DW) 47, Staci (DD) 13.

What are you looking forward to the most? This will be our 4th Disney cruise. On our last 7 day we were not ready to get off the ship. So the 10 day sounded great. We are looking forward to the new ports and just relaxing.

Where do you live? Ventura, California. It's about 50 miles up the coast from LA, about 80 miles from Disneyland.

When did you book this cruise? The first morning it was offered. We had been on a 7 day western in May of 2003 and booked onboard for early December of 2004 thinking that we would move it to May of 2005 when it opened up (we had been on a 2 year cruise cycle, 1999, 2001, 2003). I then called DCL and asked to be notified about any special cruises (I was thinking repositioning cruise even back then). Well, several days later, I got a call from a CM and was told about the 10 day Xmas cruise opening a few days later. So, we were on the phone first thing in the morning on the day it opened up. We are also on the Fl to CA repo cruise. It was much easier to get reservation for the Xmas cruise then the repo cruise, even on the first morning it was available.

Why did you pick this cruise? 10 days on the ship!

Ken

Hi everyone,

Just a quick check in. We have had a busy week getting ready for our trip to Texas. Trying to fit in Dr appts, shopping etc..

Lisa- I am about 25 mins away from Tysons, would love to try to get there on Friday. Sending you a PM.

When is the Hershey meet scheduled? We would love to make that too. So jealous of the vegas and WDW people.

Our info:
Whos cruising? - Tina(me) 41, DH Sam 41, DD Kristen 12, will be 13 at cruise time, DS Jason 11 next week.

We live in Northern Virgina about 30 minutes outside DC, near Dulles airport.

I am looking forward to 10 wonderful days on the ship, especially since we got our cat 3. Also seeing the shipped decorated for the holidays.

We booked in July 03

Why this cruise? The thought of 10 days onboard, with the plus of Christmas. We have spent Christmas at WDW before and just loved it!

Thanks for sharing - who is going to be next?

Who will be cruising with you in December?
me (36--will turn 37 on disembarkation day) ohiomickey (36) dd (soon to be 10) and ds (will be a tick shy of 8 on the cruise) my mom (she'll strangle me if I tell her age) and my dad (he recently celebrated the 41st anniverary of his 29th birthday)

What are you looking forward to the most?
besides paying this cruise off???
being on the ship 10 days. letting the kids have the time of their lives for that long. sharing it with my parents.

Where do you live (city, state, country)?
London. Doesn't that sound exotic? Truthfully, London, Ohio, USA.

When did you book this cruise?
1.5 minutes after they opened up bookings in June of '03. My original post is timed 8:22 am. That gave us time to call, finalize reservations, and pick ourselves up after the sticker shock.

Why did you pick this cruise?
10 days on the Magic.

Good evening everyone! :wizard:
Just checking in. We've been so busy getting things done around here and up at the mousehouse. I have a whole room full of stuff for the garage sale... hopefully make some $$$ for excursions!
Whatever you all decide about brunch, get togethers etc. is fine with me! Gail if you have room at one of the brunches count us in.. if not, no problem.
Okay.. here's my answers

Who will be cruising with you in December? Just the two of us, DH Joe and myself. I will admit to being 39 forever... and DH will turn 48 on Castaway Cay Dec 27. Please feel free to harrass him about it! :p

What are you looking forward to the most? Rainforest Room at the Vista Spa!!!!! I"m hoping they offer an unlimited access pass for the whooooole 10 days!!

Where do you live (city, state, country)? Coral Springs, FL most of the time... but we've got the MouseHouse now in Orlando!!

When did you book this cruise? The minute the 11 month DVC window opened!! I guess that would make it Jan 18, 2004 :teeth:

Why did you pick this cruise? Wanted to be on the Magic again as loooong as possible!! Plus we've sailed in Dec. before and the ship is SO beautiful with all the holiday decorations!!

Who will be cruising with you in December?

Virgil (44), DW Frances (44 on Christmas Eve), DD Lauren (10) and hopefully DD Kristin (19)

What are you looking forward to the most?

10 Days of Magic....and spending the Holidays with the friends I've made on here.....Visiting the new ports and doing the new excursions....

Where do you live (city, state, country)?

Charleston, WV

When did you book this cruise?

September 2003 - While on the Wonder. I noticed the 10 day cruise somewhere - in late August - DW was scared to cruise - DD (Lauren) and I convinced her to try a 3-day (OK - it was all we could get her to go on) On the second evening DW told me to go ahead and see about the 10 day - I told her I had already booked it. Found out the strangers :earseek: we met from London (Ohio) of course - whose daughter KT had become fast friends with Lauren - were already booked for it too.... of course they're no longer strangers - but friends.....

Of course - - this will be our 3rd cruise... we couldn't wait until December - so we did a 4 day over Easter.....

Why did you pick this cruise?

10 Days of Magic - at first - now I'm ecstatic because of the friends I've made on here... I think that it will be the cruise of a lifetime - because of the Holidays and such.....

I've got the REAS package for the December cruise so, if I knew the where and when of it all I could request a reservation as close to the meet time as possible...?

Hello everyone

It has been a very long time since I have last checked in.

Here is our story:

We are a family of 4....... DH 46, DW 40, DD 9, DS 6

We live in Brampton, Ontario just northwest of Toronto.

I mostly look forward to sipping on a Pina Colada around the pool and relaxing, while the kids are busy playing in the kids club. AHHHHH NICE
Scuba diving, eating good food ( hope not to gain too many lbs), and seeing some the sights on the islands will be very nice as well.
Most of all........ I'll enjoy seeing the shock on the kids faces when we pull up in front of the ship on the 18th, as they still to this day do not have a clue about the trip.
It is going to be a complete surprise. ( Listen for the screams )

Its all about the kids and the fun that they will experience, is what I look forward to the most.

We booked in November 2003 ..........just by fluke I discovered this 10 day cruise by surfing the Disney site.
It sounded quite interesting as 7 days on a typical cruise is never long enough. We were on a Carnival cruise about 4 years ago.

Christmas at home is always very hectic ........on the boat it will be just fine for us.

The kids won't even have to miss any school.

It sounded like a perfect trip for the family all in all.
