DS had a trivia question he wanted me to pass along.....

Who is Goofy's wife? (DS figures there must be a wife, because he has a son) Of course, he doesn't know the answer. LOL I told him you can't ask if you don't know the answer, and he said "Hey, I'm a kid." What's that about??
So, I asked. Anyone know?

Here's what I could find - it isn't much. :)

Aside from his roles in many "How to..." films and as the athletic "Sport Goofy," he has portrayed the "everyman" in many of his films, usually under the name of George G. Geef. Several of these films have portrayed Geef (also called Goofy in these films) as married to a woman (probably another dogface), who is tall, slender built and has red hair. She is also very 'goofy.' However, we were never given a good look at her from the front. She was always referred to as "Mrs. Goofy" or "Mrs. Geef."

I'm back! Anyone happen to catch the news stories Tuesday morning about the bad weather in Texas? Well, I lived through it. I was in my hotel, ironing my clothes when it sounded like a party was going on on the roof. I opened the curtain to see baseball sized hail coming down! It smashed the windows in my rental car, but I survived. It probably hailed badly for about 10 minutes, then there was a couple more rounds of hail ranging from marbles to ping pong sized. They're predicting $120m damage from the storm. The area worst hit was where all the car dealerships are. One Ford dealer claimed $8-9M damage!

Charlotte, good to hear from you. Sorry about your son's collarbone. And Tinkfan, I've never done King's Dominion. I've done Busch gardens and Hershey Park, and they're fine for a day, but they ain't Disney. DD has been asking about King's Dominion, because her best friend has season passes. I've been holding her off by reminding her of our Hershey Park meet this fall.

My Mom is coming for a visit next week. I have to pick her up Monday at the airport in DC. She wants to visit the WW 2 memorial. Any DC area cruisers interested in getting together?

I have to talk to my DH and my in-laws on the group seating. You know I'd LOVE to sit with all of you great cruisers! But last time, DH really didn't like the get-togethers because he was being a Grump, so I don't want to assume anything this time. And if he's being Grumpy, I know none of you will want to sit with him. My DD really likes the Danny Phantom cartoon, and there's a great quote in there. Danny's parents are at a reunion, and the dad says something rude to someone. His wife (Danny's mom) says "I'm sorry." The person says "you should be, you married him". There are days when I think that applies to me (lol)!

Anyway, I"ll try to join chat tonight, if anyone's going to be around. I hope Mark and Mary enjoy their race weekend. It sounds like a great time. Have a great weekend all. Lisa

I've held off on group seating too. Not b/c I don't want to sit with all the DISers, but my parents will be with us and my father has difficulty hearing--especially when he doesn't wear his hearing aid, which is most of the time! He has trouble in those circumstances where there is a lot of noise and general din. He also has one of those senses of humor that not everyone thinks is funny (I grew up with things like "oh, good, your school pictures are in. I'll put one in the barn to scare the mice away")

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ohiominnie and Lisa!!!!!
First of all...you have never met MY dad! He sounds like yours....
Everytime he'd see one of our friends, he'd pretend he'd forgotten their name, so he'd ask to guess. He'd say "Let me guess....Herman? Osgood? Oh, I know! It's Schnicklefritz!"
And the list goes on and on. There are times (every time) when my mom and I have wanted to crawl under the table in a restaurant. His favorite thing is teasing waitresses. And it's rarely ever funny.
And Lisa.....my DH is Grumpy...yours can't be. Oddly, he's Grumpy all the time, except when we're cruising or travelling. All of his Disney clothing is "Grumpy" stuff.
And to think on our last cruise, I had these two at the same table!! It was interesting. It was the one time cruising when DH WAS Grumpy, because he doesn't think my Dad is funny AT ALL. DH can't deal with my Dad's weird sense of humor. I grew up with it, so I'm used to it. I already know to duck when my Dad pretends he's going to smack my nose with his comb! (Don't ask....you would have to be there)
BUT....that all said....I for one totally understand your hesitation at joining the group. Trust me....I understand.
Lisa...those storms! How awful! Glad you're okay, sorry about the rental car.
Mary...glad you missed the bad weather....will tell DS what you found about Goofy! You amaze me!!! Have fun!!
Charlotte! We miss you! You need to come visit more often. How weird, our Disney Store has no clothes, and yours has almost all clothes.
And yes, bravery is easy with the help of a God!
The summer that we hit 124 degrees they printed t-shirts of "survival" for that, too. Wish I'd think of something like that. It would pay for the cruises!
Speaking of which.....heigh ho....I owe...heading for work.
Have a great day!! It's FRIDAY!!! Yippee!!!!

My dad is really not mean about it, but if you aren't a bit thick skinned you might think he really meant it. And he tends not to tease ppl unless he knows them well. He will give waitresses a hard time a bit though...they say "Hi, I'm Amy, I'll be your server." My dad says "Hi, I'm Richard, I'll be your customer." Or he'll leave just ONE bite of steak on his plate and when the waitress comes around he'll tell her the steak wasn't good, could he have another. Or she'll say "anything else I can get for you?" and my dad says "yeah, someone to pay this bill--I don't have any money." :)

I felt bad for my sister who dated a lot in high school....everytime she came home with someone new my dad would pretend he couldn't remember which one it was....he'd say "now which one are you? Bob? Joe? Jimmy? Ken? Oh shoot, there have just been TOOO many!"

I'll have to remember that one.....

My favorite was one of our friends who is WV state trooper. He'd greet potential suitors at the front door dressed in his uniform - even if it was his day off..... His daughter was ready to kill him - but the rest of us loved it.....

Oh Dads and their senses of humor. My FIL is in a league all his own. He just gets so tickled over things, that he turns red laughing at them. And that's before he gets out the joke, so none of us know what was so funny! My MIL says that he'll probably die laughing someday.

Doc, I really like that story about the police officer meeting the boys at the door though. Have to remember that one!

Happy Friday everyone!

We survived our day at Kings Dominion and actually had a good time. The park wasn't very crowded at all and that was nice. It certainly isn't Disney, but it does have lots of cool coasters and with a group of 11 yr old boys it was about all we did.
We may try Hershey later this summer.

Getting ready now for our trip to Texas next Sat.
In laws are having their 50th anniversary. We haven't been "home" in almost 3 years so we are looking forward to it.

Linda- We will be close in North Ausitn. My sister leaves in Cedar Park and is an school princiapal there and I used to teach out in Leander about 15 yrs ago.

After this trip I intend to really focus on this cruise. I am sending off for Shirley's Key West info and trying to plan decorations.

Dh asked me about the wine party. Do we have a date set for this yet? Also about how many will be attending? Just wondering how many bottles of wine we should try to bring.

Hope eveyone has a great weekend.

Geez...did we all have the same dad, or is there a manual somewhere?? He does all of the EXACT same things with waitresses. And he used to do that with my dates. And standing behind him were my two older brothers. That's probably why I always only had first dates. They wouldn't come back!

I don't know though, maybe it is me......Virgil and Paul don't want to meet up with me again!

I got half way done with all of my invoices....and ran out of forms. I ought to fire the office manager. Ooops....can't, that's me. So for the first time ever, I am going to do them on the computer. This is gonna be fun. I hope it goes easily, I may keep doing them that way. But there goes my weekend. (like I had plans!)

No chat for me tonight, we have tournament games. I think we skip next week for the 4th holiday, then only have one more Friday until September when it's (theoretically) cooler.

Will check in tonight and see how everyone's day was....
What are the plans for the weekend????

Come on Stacey you know that's not true!

I unfortunately am one of those weird sense of humor dads. I hardly see my DD because she gets embarrassed being around me. I guess it's a dad thing!

Paul

Ohiominnie, your Dad sounds just like my FIL, maybe mine is more on the curmudgeon side. It's my job to make sure DH curbs any tendencies to be like his Dad. Not sure he appreciates it, though.

Lisa, your FIL sounds like a doll. Maybe your DH will get more like him as he gets older!

We were supposed to have a Yard sale this weekend, but I didn't get the ad in by the deadline. Still have to get up tomorrow, DD has 6 hours of dance to get to.

We've got threatening skies, maybe we'll get rain! It's been very dry this summer, we've had several fires already along the bosque.

Good evening everyone! :wizard:
Well... I hope you all are happy. With all that talk of Disney Stores and sales.. I just had to run over to ours today and check it out. I was TRYING to stay clear of it because I get into SO much trouble there.....
$105 later......my goodness they had great sales!!! I got my beautiful Sorcerer Mickey with the butterfly snowglobe.. which was in the catalog for $98... on sale for $29.99!!! I couldn't believe it!! Tank tops for $5.99......Mens polos for $9.99!! I will probably have to go back tomorrow and see what I missed.. I was in a hurry...LOL :teeth:
Ah just think 6 months from now we will be celebrating Christmas on the MAGIC!!!!!!

So, Paul, is there really an instruction book on how to be a goofy dad?

I asked you to come to Vegas with us girls and you won't do it!
You're just afraid we'll make you be our Cabana Boy!

Six months! Wow. That'll fly by!

I guess I'm going to the mall tomorrow. I think I hear the Disney Store calling my name. I just wish ours had clothes. :( Or jewelry. I have diamond Mickey earrings, the Mickey Wish pearl necklace, a crystal Mickey ring....I'm missing a bracelet!!

Ah, well...just have to buy a snowglobe or two. :p

It was still 112 when we got to the ballpark. :earseek: I didn't have to play. Instead I was the official kid-watcher....that's worse.
We have a great bunch of kids, though...they're fun.

Off to bed I go.......good night, have a great weekend!

HAPPY SATURDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!!!!!!!

Stacey

Good morning everyone. It has been such a busy week. I started working at the pool and tennis club for the summer. I work 8-12 hours a week. They are 4 hour shifts. It is a great deal as our family gets free membership for the summer. The kids love it. They have a beautiful heated pool, arts and crafts, volly ball, basketball and great hard tru tennis courts. I work in the office. Very easy job as most of the children go to camp or sleep away camp. The club is quiet during the week. I get to catch up on reading and quiet time.

DD has decided to go to camp for 5 weeks this summer. She will be going for two weeks to a science and nature camp with a close friend, Girl Scout camp for a week and the Girls club of America for two weeks. I am so psyched as she will start July 5th and end August 13th. The camp hours are 5-6 hours. She does not start school until Spetember 7th so she will have 3 weeks off. School just finished last Thursday. DS can't wait to go to camp. He starts on Monday for 3 days a week for 8 weeks.

I m so excitied as I am writting to you all on my new lap top. It is wonderful!!!!!

I have not heard back about the brunch or early dining yet. It will take a few weeks and I will keep you posted.

DH is playing tennis in a mixed grab bag today and I am working this afternoon. I hope the weather clears up as it rained all night. We are suppose to get cooler weather.

We got our MVMCP tickets for 12/17 in the mail yesterday. MIL and FIL will be with us for that. They are coming up for a few days to visit with us.

Have a great day everyone. Gail

Good morning everyone!

Thought I would do a quick check in before we head out to the track. Yesterday was a great day. Getting there early gave us a nice spot and we just opened up the back of the Subaru, attached an awing we have and set up our chairs. There was a nice breeze so we just sat, relaxed, read for a while and chatted with our neighbors.

Went to the afternoon practice and qualifing and then the race itself. This is the first time we've been to a night race and we loved it. They even had a fireworks show after the race (since the sponsor was a fireworks company). Not as good as Disney puts on but still pretty spectacular.

We didn't get back to the room until 12:30 so I'm dragging a little this morning and Mark is still in bed :D

Hope everyone has a great day!
