20040410 - Roll Call April 10, 2004 Easter Cruise!!

Can anyone who was on the Easter cruise last year tell me about the Catholic service on the ship. What time is it held and where? Do people get dressed up or is it casual?

We were on the Eastern Cruise last Easter so Easter Sunday was our day at sea. The Catholic Mass was at 10:00AM in the Walt Disney Theatre on Deck 4, Forward.

The majority of people were resort casual with some shorts thrown in the mix. I would estimated that there was close to 350 to 400 people in attendance.

Hey everybody,

There is another showing this coming Friday at 7:00 p.m. on the travel channel. If you miss it they are going to replay it Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

I have a question? for our DIS group.

My wife and I were talking about how full the ship would be and I checked the DCL site and plugged in some numbers.

Well, low and behold if you were traveling with only 2 -3 adults only most cats are available, 4-12, 7 and 11 are not available. but if you add my grandson in the mix, no availablity shows up, which means the kids club in that age bracket (11) is full.

So the question to the group, how many are you taking your darlings out of school that week. Our school has off Monday and Tuesday only so he is out for the rest of the week.

Anybody else??

See you all reaL SOON:wave: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I have to DD's going ages 11,9. We are off school for the whole week for Easter break. I say we because I work for the school also.
Hope to meet you on the cruise.
Ann:crazy:

My kids are off the whole week, too. Like Ann, I am off the whole week, too! I teach in the same district that my kids attend, which is perfect for scheduling vacations!:p

Its so close! I am half packed, need to purchase a few items yet (like a decent bathing suit).
My kids are only off on Monday, so are missing the rest of the week. Their teachers are giving them the work they will miss and since they are off the week prior to leaving, they can do it before we leave. Yea! No homework.

Diana,
I would be proactive and call, all you need is your ressie number from your docs. Debbie is great! I have her direct number. I would love to meet up with you. I was planning to pick up some books at Barnes & Nobel for the cruise. Anyday is good for me, my schedule is very flexible. Looks like we are in store for a lovely weekend here! Just pick a day and I will meet ya.

I HATE Disney at Easter time....CROWDED!!!! OVER CROWDED!!
That is why we did the cruise instead of Yacht & Beach club this year...We felt thay they can't OVERCROWD a ship!!

The only winter break we get is at Easter.
So my two boys 14, and 9 are out of school for Easter Break....:teeth:

I did the exact same check on the site as you did, except with a 15 year old, it appears that the Teen Club is also full. I checked a couple of weeks ago, and all the cat 7's were available. They must have upgrqaded a lot of lower category cruisers into the 7's and opened up the lower categories.

This surprised me, I booked as a cast member less than a month ago, and it is usually hard to impossible to get a cruise where the kid's clubs are open enough for them to let us on. I was shocked (but very happy cause now we don't have to fight the crowds at the parks for a week!) when I got a cabin for this Holiday cruise.

Our only break from school this year is Christmas/New Year's and then Easter. Well Easter it was, although it is extremely crowded, we'll be staying at POFQ for 2 nights before the cruise and 1 night at the BC after.

Dang, I wish we had the travel channel. I hate Comcast.

Diana,

Yes, people from the terminal can see us depart. As a matter of fact, a few of the CMs from the terminal do a special goodbye as the ship is leaving. But, someone correct me if I am wrong, I do not think your Dad and his wife will be able to accompany you into the terminal. I believe they will have to see you off outside the terminal. If I remember correctly, they will not let anyone into the terminal without cruise documents.

Kenny,

We are taking our kids out of school for the week. We really do not like to do this, but DH could not do kids spring break time and we had the chance for a Cat 1 so we decided to take it. Our kids had spring break last week while we were at WDW. They get out half day on Thurs the 8th and all day on the 9th so they will only miss 5 days.

I can't believe it is almost here. Two weeks from tomorrow afternoon we will drive to Dubuqe, IA to check out our new boat

:boat: and spend the night so we can fly out first thing Friday morning to Orlando. I still have suitcases packed with clothes sitting all over the house. Now I have to get myself in gear to pack for the cruise.

Kenny,

I guess all kids from Long Island have the same week off. It is strange this year because ever since my kids have been in school they have been off Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the week after. Well not this year.

We booked this cruise 3 weeks after going on the Easter cruise last year figuring the kids would be off plus we already did the Eastern Carribean and wanted to do the Western Carribean cruise. Well when we received the school calendar in August we checked it and found out that the boys would not be on spring break afterall.

We bit the bullet and decided that we are going to go on the cruise anyway. They are off the week before so I told them to let there teachers know so they can do all there work prior to going on the cruise. They will only miss three days....

How did you find out about cat. cabins being available or occupied from the DCL website?

Dennis

My DD is off school Thurs & Fri before Easter and the full week after so she will not be missing any school. I don't mind her missing a few days of school but nagging her to get her homework done on vacation is not fun!!

I wish we had the travel channel but we don't anymore. I would love to see the program. Comcast- oh well!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the school reply, It's pretty interesting to see just how different areas in the US have different holiday schedules.

Anyway,

Dennis to answer your question.

You go to the Disneycruise site, click on reservations, then first time cruiser, its easier this way, and then fill in the blanks.

What I usually do is start out with 2 adults and build my party from there to see which cats are available, and if the kids clubs are full yet.

The other thing you can do is go to www.cruise-locator.com site and plug in the cruise you want. It will actually show you rooms that are available in the differance cats.

Hope this helps.

Today I also visited Home Depot and picked up some "lime green" mickeys.

So look for all us people wearing those foolest stickers.

Kennyk

I picked up my lime green Mickeys last night. Of course, my 14 year old just laughed at me. Think he would know if I just pretended to give him a pat on the back, but really taped the Mickey on his back? :teeth:

Kenny...Thanks for the info..I will check it out.

Glad to see everybody has there Lime Green Mickeys. I checked my supply and the color we all used last year was " Sonic Boom".
It really doesn't matter as long as they are Green. We will be able to find everyone I am sure.

Sorry for you Comcast subscribers. I can't believe that you don't get the travel channel. If there is anything really good on the show I will post it here over the weekend.

It is coming real soon...Trying to get my taxes done now so that I can mail next week....Boy...I hate taxes. Just think how many Disney cruises we could go on if we didn't have to pay the gov't..LOL

Dennis

Sorry I will miss you all this year.......but as Hans said, my calendar changed and since I am a teacher (Denvick!) I can not switch, as much as I would love to. I will be thinking of you all and will try my best to post as much info as I can. (I am on the 4/3 Eastern)

Concerning the Easter Baskets....My sister and I had bought a bunch of stuff from home for the kids baskets .....bathing suits, sun glasses, chocolate etc......we bought beach towels in Treasure Ketch and gave them all of our stuff. They put together a very nicely presented basket (cardboard) and delivered to room on Easter Sunday when we were not there. It worked out very nice.

I am off sooner than you are!!

Melissa,
I sent you a PM with some suggestions for our Mini-DIS meet!!

If anyone else happens to be "cruising" through Maryland next week, let us know, the more the merrier!! ::yes::

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

I just sent out an updated cruise list so if you have problems getting it let me know. It is supposed to rain here this weekend so we are going to do final cruise shopping. As usual my teenager needs more clothes. It's funny how we always seem to go shopping for her, but she is the one that always needs to get more clothes. Go figure.:scratchin I could probably clothe(sp?) a small country with all the clothes and shoes she has.:p

Now, I have a favor to ask. Some of you posted earlier that you received a flyer from DCL about the special Easter things we could order. Well since I booked with a TA I think mine went to them and I will never see it. I was wondering if someone who has a scanner might scan it and email it to me at LNaylor863@aol.com, or send me a description about what they have. I really appreciate it.

2 More Weeks!!!! :jumping1:

Thanks for the updated list. I haven't received the Easter Gift brochure yet. It seems like everybody else has that made there reservations on there own. I don't know why but if I get it this weekend, I will scan and send to you. If you get it maybe you or somebody can send to me also. Thanks!!!!

DCBrown

Have a great cruise. I wish you were with us but I know that you have to plan your vacations based on the school calendar. You are seven days ahead of us!!!! Have a great time!!
