20040410 - Roll Call April 10, 2004 Easter Cruise!!

Melisa,

Where is Mizers, never heard of this. Is it located at the Hyatt.

kennyk

Thanks Kenny & Melissa.

Meeting up for a drink sounds great. I hope it works out. We will leave for dinner at Victoria & Alberts around 5pm and probably not return until 10pm so it might be a little early and then late for some people but maybe we can work something out. We'll be up to grab a light breakfast and then catch our limo at 9:30 on Saturday.

LeiLani

Kenny,

Actually Mizners is located at the Grand Floridian. It is on the second floor of the grand lobby, just behind where the big band plays and to the side of where Citricos and Victoria & Alberts is located. We changed our plans from Hyatt to the GF because we chose to drive instead of fly.

Mouseclick1,

Yes there were Easter items on the ship. Depending on what type of gifts you want to buy and for whom. I saw on saturday alot of Easter type baskets for young kids. They weren'y cheap but not completely overpriced. I didn't see any pins but then again I wasn't looking for them. I don't know what you are exactly looking for but DCL does have Easter items on the ship. Hope this helps. If there is anything specific that you would like to buy, let me know and I will try to do my best in remembering.

Leilana - Welcome back!! Sounds like WDW was a great time.. Good for you!! Monday at 1:00 p.m. sounds as good as a time as any!!! Looking forward to meeting everybody!!!

Kenny K - Thanks for the Southwest info. I will call today to see if I can get confirmation numbers for each of my family members. It finally stopped snowing.....Just wish it would warm up a litttle bit. Looks like by Wednesday we should be in a warming trend!!! Thanks again!!

We are now in the teens with the countdown!!! It will be here in no time!!!!!

Have a great day everybody!!!

Dennis

Thanks, Denvick. It's funny, I just got home from work and found a flyer from DCL in the mail with various baskets for Easter cruisers. I was kind of disappointed, though, since they were pretty standard baskets and nothing Disneyish! I guess I was hoping for a Mickey with bunny ears or something!

LeiLani-
Welcome back; glad you had a great time! 85 degrees is sounding pretty good to me right now! 1:00 is great for us for the meet!

Have a good week everyone!

Almost there!:boat:

YEP!!!
just got back from spending 15 minutes in the sun....Hot, temps about 80 degrees.....NICE.........

Ok.......I was fake baking at the local tanning salon!!!
Hey, it's only 20degrees in Michigan!!!

Had my eyes closed thinking of Castaway Cay...........WOW!! 15 minutes of pure Disney pleasure,,,,,,, then the timer went off and backoutside to the frigid cold!!!!

I'm going back on Tuesday...........crank up the heat!!!

Yes, I got the same flyer today. Kind of disappointed in the offerings. Nothing Disney-like and only 3 choices. Th Mr. Big Fun Bunny is kind of quote though.

Other news, The cruise planning DVD arrived from DCL today AND when i checked the website today, we were finally assigned a cabin number 5148.

We got ours also, I really like the "Mr. Big Fun Bunny".

I'm calling DCL tomorrow and ordering it for my Grandson, (hint, hint).

We already have an Easter Basket coming for him from Shirley of "Perfect Gift", filled with all kinds of fun things, Stuffed doggy animal, pail and shovel, choco easter bunny etc.

They are really the best and know just what is needed to fill those baskets.

No DCL flyer in our mail today, but in honor of today being my 44th birthday and our 15th wedding anniversary which was last fall, I finally booked the REAS!! It was not part of the original plan but when DH read a few posts he liked the idea. That's all the encouragement I need to spend money on a little more pampering!::yes::
We leave for FL several days prior to the cruise, so we really are in the final planning stages! Documents arrived last week, pet sitters are in place, tax returns have been filed. The to-do list is still pretty long, but getting ready is half the fun!!

LeiLani,
Monday at 1PM sounds great! We'll be looking forward to it!

Happy Birthday, Diana!

We are almost ready; I'll probably have everything in place by this weekend. Still have to do those darn taxes!:scared1:

dtheboys-
Now that you put it that way, I guess I have enjoyed 80 degree weather a couple of times already! Going back tomorrow for a little more sunshine!:sunny:

I think I'm going to stick with putting together my own Easter baskets. I'm bringing some things from home, and hopefully I'll find some cute things to purchase on the ship to put in there as well.

Diana,
Call ahead and get your ressies through the REAS package. I just have to schedule our couples massage but I got all of our tea, brunch, and dinner at Palo ressies. I think this package is going to be a great addition to an awesome trip. I picked up plenty of Mickeys from Home Depot, but I left some for you guys. LOL
It is so close and I think I am as thrilled to be getting away from homework as my son is. It has been a busy month. I really need a cruise!

See ya real soon,
Melissa:boat: :jumping1:

Neverland...

What are you talking about...Picked up plenty of Mickeys at Home Depot????

Good Morning Everyone!

Finally got our docs yesterday!!!! :bounce: I knew they would come in while I was on vacation.

I've done that special 80 degree weather also, and will be going again today. DH is too busy so he will be the one with the blinding white chest. (Put a shirt on please :teeth: )

Happy Belated Birthday Diana!!

We are also ordering baskets from Shirley. She always does a good job and it seemed easier.

Okay, I think we will go with the DIS meet in our cabin (8030) on Monday at 1pm. Also if anyone wants to meet in the terminal we should be there around 11am and once we check in we will be hanging out around the sofa next to the Mickey Ears. I should be wearing a lime green shirt and we will have an 8yo girl, two 15yo girls(who like to think they are about 20), myself, DH, and DH's parents.

Also, we will be at the Hyatt on Friday afternoon and part of the evening. If anyone is staying there and would like to meet just let me know. We arrive in Orlando at 1pm and will check into the hotel and probably hang out by the pool until we have to get ready for dinner.

It is almost here and we are so excited.:jumping1:

LeiLani

I think it was Kenny who suggested we get our Mickey paint samples from Home Depot (they are shaped as Mickey icons) in lime green ( the Dis official color) for our Dis Meet. They are at the paint counter in Home Depot in the Disney Paint section. I got two shades of lime because I wasn't sure exactly which was the right one. By the way, anybody know which color is correct?
Anyway, if you hole punch them you can tie them onto anything and we will all be able to spot our fellow Diser's!

Hello all,

It doesn't matter which one you wear but most of us wore the lighter lime green one. It is more obnoxious and easier to see from far away. You will know which one I am talking about. I had such a problem last Easter cruise getting my kids to wear them..lol...they were telling me how "stupid" this looks. Typical of "almost" teenager boys. This year it will only be my wife and I wearing them. We will get to the terminal at about 10:30 and will be looking for those Mickeys.

Hey.... are we still going to meet somewhere for the sail away party? I know there were discussions early on about meeting at deck 10. Are we still on???

I found out last year that Shirley does do a great job with giving you special personalized treatment with your gifts on the ship. She isn't cheap but definitely does a great job. She is so sweet too. A really great person!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dennis

I am glad you said something about the meet at the sail away party Dennis. I was going to add it to my earlier post and I forgot. We will be on Deck 10 terminal side during the sail away party if anyone wants to meet there. I will have on a lime green shirt and I will have the Mickey paint samples on somewhere. I know what you mean about the kids not wanting to wear something. Last year I thought it would be cute to wear matching shirts to board and take our boarding picture. So I ordered Disney shirts out of the catalog and all I got was grief from my teenager. She did not want to be seen in it so she put it on right before we boarded and then took it off as soon as the picture was done. Not doing that this year.

The waitlist for the dolphin swim in Cozumel came through :Pinkbounc so we will be swimming with the dolphins. The swim is not until 2pm, so we are not sure if we are going to Chankanaab early or try to check out Paradise Beach.

LeiLani

We may not be arriving at the port until later in the afternoon. Being a cast member, I can't go for Palo ressies until after 3pm anyway. So I figured I'll just waitlist it. Hopefully we'll get a brunch and/or dinner.

We'll spend a few extra hours in the parks before driving over to the ship.

Definitely up for the sailaway party though. Hopefully I can get to Home Depot soon.

We finally got our cabin assignment (at least I think we did). 5148. The website still shows 6 GTY, but an automated fax request showed a cabin number.

Leilana,

I was laughing as I read your posting. I guess all children are the same!! My boys ripped there Mickey swatches off as soon as the line started moving to embark on the ship. They couldn't wait to get them off...Oh well. Someday they will be in the same boat (no pun intended) and I hope I am there to witness it with there children...lol

We will be there on deck 10 at the sail away party. There will be alot of people there but I am sure we will see each other. We will probably see everybody in the terminal since DCL doesn't allow boarding until about noon so we will be able to place a face with all these postings!

I have extra Mickey Swatches for anybody that can't get to Home Depot. My wife and I will be the ones with the Green Mickeys on our shirts. I will be wearing some sort of baseball cap.

Dennis

We can't wait to get out of this cold weather and be in sunny Florida. It's going to be here soon!

Can anyone who was on the Easter cruise last year tell me about the Catholic service on the ship. What time is it held and where? Do people get dressed up or is it casual?

Thanks,

Patti

Thanks for all the nice birthday greetings everyone!

Melissa
Regarding the REAS, my TA told me that DCL would call no later than 8 days prior to schedule everything. Should I be proactive and make that call on my own? I'm hoping to schedule Palo on Tuesday which is probably a popular night because of the rotation repeat. I've read on other posts that there is a woman named Debbie that handles this for Disney and she is great to talk to.
I was thinking that it would be fun to meet for coffee or whatever some morning over the next couple of weeks, maybe at Barnes and Noble or one of the gazillion bagel shops in this town!!! The boys are off by 8:30 each morning, so I'm free except for Tues. and Fridays. I know you have a couple of little DDs, so whatever and wherever works best for you. If we can't swing it, then we'll just meet up on the 10th!:wave2: Let me know!
Speaking of lime green Mickeys, DH and DS8 were at Home Depot earlier tonight and my son came home with a pocketful of every variation of green they had. I think we're covered!!

Leilani,
You mentioned being on the terminal side during the sail away party. Can people at the terminal see us depart, and can we see them from the deck? My dad and his wife plan to be at the port to see us off, and we all have this romantic notion of being able to wave goodbye just like in the movies!! I don't want them to waste their time hanging around for nothing.

Ok, Hang in there everyone, it is almost time!! :boat:
