20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Kinda quiet around here today - are all of the parties getting the best of everyone?

The parties are like "working out", to ensure that we won't poop out on board...c'mon people, we need to increase our endurance!

...

OK, I was asleep before last night's party, so don't listen to me...

I may just order some sun dresses online to "get in the mood", when else can I do that, right?

Doing the happy dance at my house today! Debbie from DCL Dining called and we have all of our Palo ressies set as well as the spa visit. She was very pleasant and had suggestions on when to book what. She did allow me to choose our dining rotation as well; APLAPLA. With our younger kids (8), that is probably what we'd get anyway. I'm sure if I had pressed it she would have booked a different spa treatment for me. She suggested that I book it as the couples massage and when we are settled in on Day 1 or Day 2 take Tony to the spa and see what he thinks. She was sure they'd change it if he really didn't want to go.

Amazing how things change when you talk to the right person. When I called in yesterday, the CM didn't even know what the Romantic Escape was and said I'd have to book everything on arrival day. Prior to that I was told we wouldn't be able to book brunch or tea, nor our spa visit, nor could I book a different spa treatment if Tony doesn't want to go to the massage. I realize they can't know everything, or have the authority to do everything, so I try to smile when I ask for what I want....and ask, and ask, and ask. :) He went away for a bit and came back and said someone would call me the week of the cruise to set up Palo. I told him we are leaving 1/27 for FL and he made a note and said they'd call me before we leave. The call came this am!

Debbie was charming and basically was pleased with doing things prior to sailing. "It keeps the ship organized" as she said. Now if they'd just do this without taking my $299!!!!

OK, I've gushed enough. Should split it up into several posts in order to boost the post number.

Juli

That's awesome Juli, congrats! Tell us your Palo bookings, maybe we're gonna be there the same times? We have the champagne brunch on the Monday at sea, 10am I think - and our spa treatment same day at 4:45, they told us to plan on an hour and a half total...then we have Palo dinner and our romantic turn down on Weds the 4th at 7pm.

Did they give you any clues about the "extras"??

And HEY! WE didn't get to pick our dining rotation!! I just emailed your post to my mother-in-law because I want to know that too, and maybe she can call them for me tonight before THEY go to FL tomorrow (they are moving back there, tomorrow they fly down to sign on the papers for their house).

*pout*

*wants to know her dining rotation too*

*thinks someone better hand her a boat drink fast before she cries*

*sniffle*

APLAPLA - so that means you're in Lumiere's on "Formal" AND "Semi-formal" night? Why would they put the littlest kids in Lumiere's, the most formal of the dining rooms other than Palo's? Just a question...if I had the choice, this would be the rotation I picked too...but your comment about the younger kids and this being the "norm" made me wonder. :) I'm most excited for Animators Palate and least excited for Parrot Cay or whatever it's called, so I'd love to have Animator's Palate the first night out!!

But wait! THat would mean the second time around in An. Palate, we'd miss out cause that's our Palo night...hmmm...what to do what to do! Maybe it's better to not pick it and go with chance. *grin*

Yeah yeah, always whining, that's me!

MIL just told me that she too talked to Debbie from Dining, and also commented how amazing and relaxed she was, and how she had recommendations and ideas that were very helpful. Good to know that this CM is consistantly amazing, huh! :)

Juli, meet you on board early for lunch MINUS the ressie rush, Kelsey and Tyler are so excited at the thought of using the pool right away after we check them into the clubs and get something to eat! :)

DH just called, and has the birth certificates for the kids - I dug his out yesterday, and along with my passport, we now have all the documents we need for the cruise.

Now to focus on my wardrobe... ;)

Juli, my MIL said we don't know the dining rotation because we didn't ask her to ask about it...bummer on my part. Ah well! Live life on the edge, sayz I...we'll be surprised when we get there!

Okay, well I have 27 girls coming over Saturday night for DD 7th birthday, so I might as well extend the invitation to all of you.

Chinese is on the menu along with games, a treasure hunt, arts & crafts, and lots of movies--including Harry Potter at midnight. So sprinkle some flu powder on that hot tub and BYOF(fun). Got lots of umbrellas. Just mix your own and get lost in the fray.

Sounds like so much fun, I'm assuming you'll have plenty of Bernie Botts All Flavor Beans...I want to see the mens faces when they try "Booger" flavor, or "Black Pepper", "Vomit", "Sardines"...or "GRASS"...

...

No, NOT that kind of grass! *shakes finger in very mommy like way*

And we can throw in a quick game of Wizard's Chess or Quidditch, but don't let Cap play because he already broke one pair of glasses and wont have time for another trip to the eye dr. before he leaves!

And hide and seek, but no cheating with the Maurauder's Map, people!!

Speaking of Cap, did you get your docs yet? Are you the only one in our group still missing them? :(

Hi everybody - we packed till we ran out of newspaper! Then we went shopping! Well, not really, we went to a wine store to get boxes for my stemware and then a cheese shop to get lunch!

The party's already at my house on Saturday night! I called it first.

That's right that the "child" rotation is APL and it doesn't make any sense at all w/ the formal night at Lumieres. The PLA - mixed ages puts you in AP for Formal and semi, while the adult rotation LAP puts you in the most kiddie firendly for Formal night - go figure! I want LAP, tho!

How fun to have everything worked out before anyone else!

Where's the party tonight?

Any reason why you want LAP, Karyn?? Just curious.

I was just thinking - maybe they do that so that the kids have the best chance of being dressed up on formal/semi-formal nights - after all, not ONLY is it formal night, but it's also the fanciest of the restaurants, so maybe it's in hopes that parents will pay more attention to the dress suggestions that way...you know, a double whammy? Otherwise, it almost doesn't seem fair, does it!

I know I know...want some cheese with that WHINE, Nikki?

I guess I don't really care, LAP or PLA would be neat because then I know we have AP two nights. I am going to take the "it's out of my control" attitude with this one or I'll nitpick it to death!

:scratchin

Hi everyone,
I hope our disco reunion night hasn't been sent into history oblivion, but:confused: when we went in Oct. they skipped it:confused: and went straight from 60's to 80's. They didn't even have 50's night that time:mad: That made me even more unhappy. I can do the swing with the best of 'em, and I don't look too bad in capris/pedal pushers either. Alas, my disco dresses are long gone... I danced them right into the rag bag long ago. Let's keep our hopes up that they will bring it back! Anyone up for a rousing rendition of the Hustle or the bump???
see ya,
The disco inferno lady,
Renae

GREAT. Now I have "The Hustle" stuck in my head....

DO THE HUSTLE! Do do do do...dododododo...

*ahem*

Speaking of that, are there places the kids can join us? DD and DS are ALWAYS on the dance floor at weddings, and can Electric Slide with the best of 'em...and dont' even get me started on the Macarana!

Hey, Cap - Whatcha think about all these young "kids" here? 60's - 70's, 80's? Why, back in our day....... we had snow up to the roof-tops, had to walk 5 miles to school in a blizzard, and danced to the REAL music. Oh, yeah, I remember it well....

*snicker* You forgot my father's favorite description... "walk to school in the snow...FIVE MILES...UPHILL...BOTH WAYS!!"

Listen to you, Dean, you'd think you were old enough to be my father...NOT!

"Ah yes...I remember it well..."

Great. Now I have the music from Gigi stuck in my head...will you people STOP that!!

You know, I just realized that I've babbled like ALL day today...sorry bout that...I'm going home now, so I'll shut up...

Why do I want LAP? Well, it's the adult rotation and we're all adults at our table (well, maybe not Dean!) And I like Lumiers and it puts me there 3 nights and I don't like AP and I was wanting to go to Palo on Sunday night (Key West night) which would be AP night, but since that's superbowl night I probably wont go that night . . . so then I would want to go Mexicalli night - which is also Animator's Palate on the LAP rotation. I think I would enjoy PC for formal night than AP.

Yes, you were rather animated yourself today, Nikki, but I guess you're really excited.

Karyn

I'm feeling a little better but no where near myself--thanks for asking.

As far as it goes for two parties on the same night, I don't see a problem. Just party hop. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
