20040131 ~ Cruising Jan 31 2004 Western Who's with us?

Hi, Gary. Make sure you bring some sun glasses with you! I'm positive you will need them to protect your eyes from my lime green accessories. I'll probably look like a pre-washed Hulk

Found this link for Grand Cayman activities. Thought since you weren't decided on anything, you may want to have a look:
http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/DisneyMagic.htm

Several folks we haven't heard from for a while. grandma_x2, Scott5150, GinaAnn, dpuck1998, JonHM, chickenlady, mardal, princessdisney, Bonkinthesota, jedokids, Steve&Lisa, auntrenae - are you still out there? Chime in!!:happy1:

Have a great day!

Dean

Kids just came home with a notice saying that there has been a threat for a shooting found in the bathroom in their school. This is grades 3-5...the "age of innocence" and all that...and there's not much information currently from the school, just a note that "the police are investigating".

*sigh*

How do I feel good about sending them to school tomorrow now?

Someone use some pixie dust on them there counters please, and make them go faster...cause I really need this relaxation...

:(

Our thoughts are with you, The4OfUs. I'm sure there will be enough security at the school that your children will be in good hands while there. I just amazed at how frequently these type of things happen and how young those are that are affected by it.

Take care,
Dean

Team - it looks as though we are in 5th place, with 562 replies to our thread.

The Dec 18, 2003 cruise is at 915. We've got six weeks to go and ought to be able to beat that number.

Can we get pumped up about this cruise?

Who has gotten docs yet? What our our plans if it is raining on sail-away day? Can we do a conga line around one of the decks? How about something great for the boat drill? Do we want the Disney photographer to take a group picture of us with our hats?

Let's find things for The4OfUs's kids to think about rather than school problems.

That stuff about schools scares me to no end. If I thought there could really be a serious problem, I would pull my daughter out. I have her in a private school now, but that is no guarantee of safety.

As far as it raining during sale away...can you say "Mickey Raincoat". Come On. How many of you don't own at least two them. We once went to illuminations in during an electical storm and it was the most spectacular Illuminations display we have ever seen!!!

Is everyone bringing bubble soap for the sail away party? We did it last time along with a couple other families, but a crowd of 100 doing it. That would be something!!! :grouphug:

OK, Cap, I'm ready. Anybody else? I got a chair on the old verandah, a list of umbrella drinks I want to try, and my lime green sneakers to get me where I need to be to meet everybody. Just point me in the right direction.

Karyn, I got a nice note back from Inkcognito about my Stringray City concerns. I think we're sticking with our original plans and doing the Disney one with an island tour and then the sandbar. So, let's get this party going! Please email me a picture of the look you get when you tell Jill - it'll be great!:earseek:

Yo Rinny!!!! On our last cruise, we met for a team photo around 3:30, a half hour before the boat drill at 4:00 P.M. We met on deck 4, outside Studio Sea. Lots of room, no traffic. I can contact DCL to arrange for a photographer to take a nice portrait of us.:crowded:

Jami, I'm REALLY liking the bubbles idea! :hyper: ::yes:: And yes, we have two Mickey ponchos (Who doesn't is right!) so rain is not a problem. A conga line on the promenade deck is always an option!

How many of us have AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) or MSN Messenger accounts? Maybe we could arrange our own chat night sometime? Gail and I chat with Randy and Ann frequently!:chat:

HADD!!! :wave2:

Pssst, Gary, I'm the new kid remember? I don't have.... but, hey, water all around, a little on won't hurt anything? They got towels on the ship, right?

You guys are AWESOME. COunt us in for any group photos you may have.

No further word on the threat...it apparently hasnt even made the local news so I'm not sure HOW serious to take it. These are third through fifth graders, I mean COME ON! *sigh* My daughter cries at the thought of going tomorrow...my son is scared but is being a man about it...we'll see tomorrow how much we should worry I guess. Goodness knows I never want to be in a "what if" situation...so if they miss a day of school, at least they are alive right??

Rain? Pfft! I'm a meteorologist, bring it ON bay-bee! *grin* As long as my hair doesn't have to be perfect... ;)

Only six weeks from tomorrow, we will be sailing away!!! Dean, you have six weeks to get your Mickey poncho.... you are not the only one, we don't have them either!

Any docs yet?! :hyper: I did a search on documents to try and hit on a thread to find out how far in advance they are sent. Well, I hit on the January 24th Magic thread and some of those folks starting getting them this past week. These were people who did not book their air through DCL. But, also some said they didn't get them yet even though they didn't book air. I would LOVE to get mine before Christmas, but it's getting close. I wanted to wrap the docs up is they came since Santa is bringing the trip and DS doesn't know about it yet. I better scout something else to wrap up this weekend!!

Speaking of the weekend -- last one to finish up things for Christmas! :earseek: How is everyone doing?! I think we are in decent shape, but still have things to do this weekend. I think some umbrella drinks may be in order this weekend while I am finishing up things.

Have a great weekend!!!! :sunny:

Wow, time is SO flying!

Kim and Dean, I'm sure several of us have extra Mickey ponchos - not to worry! I wonder if you could find them on EBAY?
Docs? Our last cruise we got them about 6 weeks before - but this time we only just got our shore excursion material last week. hmmmm. I just need to have them by Jill's last day of school - 1/15/04.

Cap, now, I'm thinking that it would be really hard to pass the 12/18/04 cruise in number of posts since that is a very active group, I know, I'm part of it. We just hit 1 year till sailing yesterday. There are a few hundred people involved in that thread! AND all of you will decide to join us next year - y'hear that DEAN???? We'll have all kids and fiances etc. with us on that one!

Kim, that was a real low blow about Christmas shopping! I haven't begun. Of course, I'm only spending about $25 on each kid cause they are getting THE cruise next year. I do feel guilty, tho.

On AIM I'm Kabuli1 - anyone out there on it - put me on your buddy list - I'm hanging around the computer most of the time (when I'm not packing)!

The4ofUs, that's so scary about your kid's school. I think I would just start vacation a day early. Sounds like the kiddies need a mental health day! Do let us know what you decided. Praying for you here!

Dean, I think you'll enjoy the Grand Cayman tour you've selected - but I still think Matt should come with us!::yes::

Randy took the red-eye home from Seattle, he'll be here now till 1/1. He's snoozing and I'll be going out to see ROTK for the 3rd time this morning (my justification is that I'm going w/ a friend who hasn't seen it yet and this way I won't be noisy while Radny sleeps - not that I am noisy, but just in case . . .). JIll just staggered out of bed and out the door- heading to her 11th-to-the-last-day of HS!

Have a great day, everybody - just think, six weeks from this evening some of us will be on the Illuminations cruise and having our first drink together - how cool is that?

Cheers!

Karyn

No docs here yet. The DW is on high alert to call me is they should show up while I'm at work!:goodvibes

The next two weeks will fly by because of the Holidays. I've been working out at the YMCA to shed some pounds and to get in shape for snow removal season. When you marry into an Italian family, the holidays are NOT a good time to woory about your weight!!! :teeth: Our treadmill is going to get a workout!!!

By the way, there are Mickey Ponchos for sale on Ebay!!! Search on "mickey rain" and you will find them.

HADD!!! :wave2:

I drove my son to school today after a drs. appt, and was happy to see HOW seriously they are taking this. The police presence was VERY obvious, from the cruisers out front to the officers in the front lobby/office. The second the kids came in, they were instructed to drop their bags and coats in the cafeteria, where the police would be searching them, and then go to the classroom - they'll be called to get their stuff when it's been cleared. The school was airtight and there was a HUGE atmosphere of concern, so that helped my kids, who were both scared to death.

Rumor is that it was a teenager/young adult who masqueraded as a chaperone...but you know rumors.

No more info yet. *sigh*

My son asked me what to do if the shooting started. At nine, he's asking me how to survive a shooting. How sick is that. :(

I told him to listen to his teacher, because she'll take care of him, no matter what....and that this is probably a joke, a bad one, but not to worry.

We'll see if the school can say more than "Its confidential" when we call after today!!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc ok guys sitting down with a parcel on the table in the parcel is our cruise docs waiting for the rest of the family to get home before i open them get ready guys the DOCS ARE COMMING. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

YAY!! OK, now you REALLY gave me something to look forward to, thank you!!! :hyper:

Wooooooooooo-hooooooooooooooo!!!!

Oh, thanks for making my day, Shingle!! I wanna be next!

Dean

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

No, I wanna be next!!!! If I'm not next, I'll hold my breath till I turn blue!!!!:faint:

Way to go, Shingle!!!:hyper:

HADD!!! :wave2:

*pokes Gary and Dean*

Excuse me...I believe *I* was next in line behind Shingle...

Except our trip includes flights and hotel and such arranged by DCL, so I have read that this will delay my docs a bit, huh. *sigh* AND ours will go to our TA first (who happens to be my mother-in-law) right? So I have to wait for HER to get them and then get them TO us!

OK, I think I'll go over there and pout now....

*pout*

Mommmmmy!

I called "next" first. Now Gary and The4OfUs are trying to be next ahead of me. That's not fair 'cause I'm next!! No wonder I'm "Grumpy"
