As Sam said: "Well, I'm back. . ." and the credits rolled!
My first priority and my countdown for the past three years culminated last night with experiencing The Lord of the Rings -Trilogy Tuesday in downtown Chicago (a promotional event that I was lucky enought to snag tickets for.) We got there at 10am to scout out the situation (the movies - all three, the first two in all their extended glory, started rolling at 1pm) anyway the theater was already 1/2 full, but we got excellent seats and had a wonderful wonderful time, even if we were in the theater for almost 15 hours. We were free to come and go and AMC River East did a fabulous job of hosting the event. I laughed, I cried, I have to go back and see it again today.
Sorry guys, first things first!
Welcome Jami! And don't you go scaring those good folks about Stingray city! It is a great experience, Dean and you should definitely try it. You won't need to snorkle or swim to experience it. They are very adept at working with all kinds of folk. Capt Marvin's last year was wonderful - but they do go to some great snorkeling spots as well, which is why I think you should send Matt with us. Jami, we (3 and Matt, if we can talk Dean into parting with him) and Renae will be doing the 1/2 day on Grand Cayman with Capt Marvins - it will be almost like a private boat. Join us! Seriously, it was the highlight of our entire cruise last year, don't miss out on it. Dean, I think tho, that including it w/ the island tour is a good choice for you and Cheri. And, stingrays don't bite - they don't have teeth - tho they have a hard cartilege and you can get pinched as you feed them. You won't lose fingers, tho you may get a hickey! (yes it was waist deep water and the only reason I used my mask (you don't need mask and snorkle) was because I have a corrected lens in it and didn't want to wear my glasses out in the water (blind otherwise). Jill's not a great swimmer, snorkeler- Randy is even worse, but we wouldn't consider ever missing Stingray City, ever!
The question about tables for 4 - they often seat families of four by themselves. We were seated that way but asked to be put w/ another family who are now some of our best friends - and we met them right here on DIS. My new best friends are going to be Dean and Cheri even if they aren't LOTR fans and don't like to snorkel!
Randy's on his way back to Seattle right now, he'll be home Friday and leaves on 1/1 to drive out there to stay. So the window of opportunity to pack for the move is between Christmas and NYE! I guess we'll be busy. We've been doing a bunch of farewell parties, kinda sad, you know.
Cheers to all, I'll try to check in more often - it's a good excuse to get away from packing.
