OK, I am not sure if I am posting old news or not. I do know that Disney contract was ending Dec31. But the big question was, would they extend the contract into 2004? I was holding my breath, because on the rotation that they were on, my 4-day cruise would have had a Freeport stop instead of a day at sea. I called DCL today, just to check, and was told they no longer stop in Freeport!!! YIPPEEE!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester:

Thats to bad...I enjoyed Freeport much better than Nassua...they should get rid of the Nassau stop IMHO.

I just was not looking forward to losing the day at sea. Freeport, Nassau...doesn't matter to me...just let me float for a whole day!;)

I wonder if that will carry on to 2005 or if they will re-evaluate their option of stopping there again at the end of the year. I wouldn't care if it's Nassau or Freeport either since we've been to both and wouldn't get off the ship anyhow.

On our NYE cruise with captain henry, at the CC reception he mentioned that DCL was dropping the freeport stop due to customer feedback. The overwhelming response was that people do NOT like freeport but rather prefer a day at sea. From that statement I would be surprised if they picked it back up again.

What is there to do in Freeport? We got off ship, went to the makeshift straw market, and were back on the ship in 1 hour

Alexandrew, that is the whole problem with Freeport... The ship has to dock at some industrial docks way out in nowhere. I hear that Port Lucaya is actually quite nice. But involves the hassle of time consuming and sometimes pricey taxi ride just to get there and back. To much of a hassle for most cruisers. I had heard that DCL told Freeport, (who begs them to continue to bring their passengers there $$$) that DCL would consider signing on for the Freeport stop if they would build an acceptable dock somewhere near to Port Lucaya. And, that does not seem to be happening.

While Port Lucaya might be nice, at least Nassau has a lot more choices to offer to cruisers. Tours, Atlantis, Blue Lagoon, Catamaran Snorkle, etc... All practically within walking distance of the ship. I can see why DCL may have gotten the negative feedback.

Also, when you lose that day at sea, then Castaway Cay is on that last day, crammed in with all the other 'Do Not Miss' activities. (Kids show with Mickey Mouse, Last night at Palo, Main show like the Golden Mickeys, etc....) It totally screws up the scheduling! That is the beauty of having a day at sea on that last day! ;)

DCL - good move.... keep that last day at sea! :D

Let's go with a second day at Castaway Cay instead!!! We can also get rid of Nassau for a three day CC cruise! Hey, why not!!!

Ooooh...I'm all for that! :)

I was on the last Freeport stop during the December 14, 2003 4-day cruise. Mom and I didn't even leave the ship. In fact, I wish we had stayed onboard during the Nassau stop.

We absolutely loved Freeport! The sea days are boring, I much prefer port days. Two days in Castaway Cay would be awesome, I'd definitely go for that!:D

How funny because I'd rather sail the entire time than ever get off the ship!!! And I'm the one who is highly prone to nausea!!
Maybe I was a pirate in another life?!

We're going on our 1st 4 Day Cruise Feb. 22,( We did the 3 Day Cruise last year).I was wondering how the day @ sea was. Is it really crowded... & I would assume that the pools are a zoo. We have a verandah on Deck 6 & we were thinking of ordering room service for lunch & eating on the deck. Is it a good idea to have breakfast @ Triton's on that day? We travel with a handicapped friend & can't make it to breakfast until at least 10am due to his care. Any advice?? Cathie & The Gang
