Hi everyone! I want to book a room for the Dolphin for 6/04 under the nurse rate but DU will only book till the end of this year. They say the "rates aren't out yet" but I see others have booked for then. Do I call Dolphin directly? Or can AAA book a room for me with the nurses rate? Thanks for the help!

...for 6/30 thru 7/9/04 and the reservationist told me to call back in 2-3 weeks because they only have dates thru 6/9/04. Hope this helps!

Swan and dolphin have discounts for nurses and teachers. I got teacher's discount for club level for New Year's Week! WDW does not discount that week.

I never knew about the nurses rate! How much is the discount or does it change depending of the time of year? Is that the only resorts that offer the nurses rate? I am not a nurse yet  BUT I am a nursing student:p (going for my BSN) I have 1 more year to go!!!! :Pinkbounc

Hi DizzyDizney:

The "nurse's rate" is actually a teacher, nurse or government employee rate. It can actually be up to 1/2 off of rack rate.

It is available for the Swan or the Dolphin, both just outside of Epcot. They also honor AAA discounts, military, etc.

The rates change for each resort, depending upon availability and time of year. Example: I was able to reserve the government employee rate for Easter '04 week at the Swan. I got the club level room at 1/2 off of rack rate. The reservationist told me there are a limited amount of rooms available at all discounts. This rate was not available at the Dolphin. Perhaps it will become available, who knows?

You can learn more at www.swandolphin.com. Just enter some dates, choose your discount, and you will see what the rates are and how they change.

Without this discount, my family wouldn't be able to afford to stay at the club level of a deluxe resort. I'm really happy w/the rate I snatched up! ;)

Good luck to you!

You will just need to provide some employee identification at check in to get the appropriate discount.

And this isn't a discount that can be booked through CRO. I prefer to contact the resorts directly, but I believe you can go through a Starwoods central reservation #. It's a fantastic opportunity to stay in a Boardwalk resort at the lowest possible rates (except for Priceline, etc.).
You can join the Starwood Preferred Guest Club for free and might be able to get a complimentary upgrade to a room with a better view (this seems to happen more frequently at S&D than other resorts) and also late check out.

Thanks for all that info! This sounds like something that I really need to look into and take advantage of. When you said they honor military discounts would that be year round? or only when they have the special deals like the Armed Forces Salute? I did go to the website but I couldn't find the rates. I will keep looking because I must of overlooked somewhere. Thank you again for the replies!

Dizzy:

Yes, the military discounts are year-round, based upon availability.:D

I just went to the S/D website, but they are doing some maintenance, perhaps adding rates for the Dolphin for 2004....
Anyway, you need to choose Reservations, then Room Reservations, then choose either the Swan or the Dolphin & you'll get a screen where you can enter dates, etc. Look at this screen carefully. There is a pull-down menu where something like "promotional codes" is entered. Just click one and see what rate you get.

Workin, I found it! Thanks again for your help and info! Those rates are something else! You can count on me staying at the Swan in the near future! :Pinkbounc

Dizzie ~ so nice to able to help you out!

I've also learned so much from this website!

dizzie>> When you check out room rates, try all the different options. Even though I can get the teacher's discount, it was cheaper for me not to take for my dates at club level. Try all the different ways that you are eligible to see what rates will show up.

Check out the Swan/Dolphin tips and hints thread! Those chatters there are awesome! I have only started posting on that board since about Easter, yet I feel like I have found my "chat" home there! They have so much information to share it is unbelievable!

I'll be at the Swan soon!!!

Swan - Teacher/nurse/gov't rate has just gone up to $145 b/c of the new renovations
Dolphin is holding at $129 until their renovations are complete and I anticipate a rate increase.
These rates are pretty steady regardless of the time of year just based on availabilty. I would suggest calling the resort directly to book. Sometimes the S/D web site shows unavailable but when you call there is availabilty or use DU.

The rates are for standard room (limited view). Still, a great rate for 2 awesome resorts with the BEST location. And, join spg and you have a chance to receive an upgrade. S/D resorts may not be Disney resorts but they are filled with magic and pixie dust! And remember, they are surrounded by Disney - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

I think I do need to check out the Swan/Dolphin threads. I didn't even know they weren't Disney Resorts. I just figured that since they were in the area they were.... :p But that won't change my mind from staying there in the future :Pinkbounc
