I tried searching, but couldn't find any posts for this year's inline marathon. Anybody else going?

I'm only doing the half marathon myself, along with my parents. I'm up to 10 miles so far, averaging around 7.5 minutes per mile. I have no hope of winning - my goal is not to be forced to ride to the finish line in the truck! :p My plan is to skate 11 this weekend, and then I assume I'll be up to skating 13 the next weekend.

Thank you! The inline marathon is in two weeks, on Sunday May 2. Here's a link to the path map: map

This is actually the map from 2003, but I'm assuming that they'll have the same path this year.

kennancat or anyone else who skated last month- how did you do? I am very interested in any info I can get on this- my DS wants to participate in the next one. We need to start planning soon!

I really enjoyed it. It was neat to get to skate through the parks. I would highly recommend to practice skating up and down hills if you have not before - a lot of people wiped out on that first down ramp! The boardwalk was a bit difficult to skate on because it was still damp (very slippy!) but most of the rest of the surfaces were good. Some of the roads were better than others, and you had to deal with small bits of gravel on some of them, but I didn't think it was too bad.

I wore my Camelback (water backpack, if you're not familiar with it) and definitely appreciated having my own water supply with me. I took advantage of the water stations along the trail, but just those would not have been enough for me personall. I ended up doing a 7:30 mile, so right around an hour and a half to finish the whole thing. I was pretty near the bottom of the pack, but hey, I'm happy to have finished :) If you're not used to skating for that long, I'd also recommend training for it starting a couple of months out just to see how you do. There were some people at the start that I could tell were not going to make it to the end.

I had a lot of fun and would do it again next year. I just need to figure out whether to do the half or the full :p

Thanks so much for the info! I will pass it along to DS! He REALLY wants to try this and has somewhat started training for it. He blades while I walk, 2 miles almost everyday. Then other times, he does a 5.5 mile loop, and once he ended up on an 11.2 mile loop (unexpected, involved a couple of dogs!). This is mostly on oil and sand roads, up and down lots of hills. He dodges major pot-holes and very sandy roads, so he thinks he shouldn't have a problem in Disney. He plans to only do the half marathon.

Any idea when they will anounce the date for this? I can't get any new info on the Disney website. I noticed the first one was in March, and the next in May. We will need airfare, so we are eager to have the date! Thanks for your help, kennancat, and congrats on finishing the race!

I think they might be full already. The info was there shortly after the races were over this year but I can't find anything on the computer.

Wow, my DS will be so disappointed if it is full. I haven't seen anything on WWOS list of events for the next one- assumed it wasn't scheduled yet. I might try calling to get info.

Well, I decided to e-mail WWOS - hopefully I'll hear something back. I'll give it a couple of days, then try calling.

I received a reply from WWOS. The e-mail states to "please continue to moniter the events schedule". I take this as the 2005 inline marathon is not scheduled yet. I hope!

Here is a link to the schedule: It is Sunday, May 1st 2005.

I am interested in the half marathon. I just need to get out there and train. If anyone knows of good places to skate in the Boston area, let me know. Getting to Memorial Drive on Sunaday isn't too practical, but if anyone knows of some good trails in the suburbs please let me know.
