2004 great deal

Hi sorcerermickeyuk, welcome to the DIS Boards.

If you are travelling during the school holidays unfortunately you won't be able to find very cheap deals because operators (especially airlines) increase their prices significantly. The only advice I can offer is to compare the cost of package deals with booking your holiday independently (flights, accommodation, car hire, car hire insurance, tickets, etc). We have to travel during school holidays and have found we get better value for money by booking DIY holidays rather than complete packages.

I'm sure you'll get lots of advice on money saving tips here, so keep reading and asking questions.

Regards

Rob

We found it considerably cheaper booking independantly, and we're going during Easter 2004.

If you are going during the school holidays, flying a few days earlier is significantly cheaper. I know we shouldn't take kids out of school but..... This is the part where you say you work in education !

There was something in the papers about the cost of all those flashy brochures in Travel Agents. Apparently they're over a quid each. We end up paying for these at the end of the day.

Besides all this, it's great fun investigating the whole thing.

LOL i work in education and if it meant getting a better price for a flight I would take a few days earlier holiday!!

Hi sorceremickeyuk, and welcome to the DIS boards

There's no magic formula (unfortunately!), but the usual advice for the best prices is to book either early or late. If you leave it late for booking in the school holidays you may well end up without anything, so you're doing the next best thing by thinking about it now. Keep checking proces with all the operators, airlines and hotels and then you'll have an idea of what would be a good price if you spot one.

How many of you will be travelling, what ages are the children (if any), where do you want to stay / fly from, do you want a car over there etc. etc???

Good luck!

Having been last year we had no real thoughts about going again this year - until we started surfing flight fares - BINGO - a price we couldn't ignore. Next step accommodation - for us a large villa in the Kissimmee area, and eventually we found what we wanted at a price we could afford (patience and tenacity rewarded). Park tickets are going to be roughly the same price from most outlets - the 10 day ticket suits our requirements perfectly along with Universal's 7 day pass for the price of two days (I believe that there is just now an even better deal, so don't stop looking).
The point of all this is that we can't believe how much cheaper we have managed to arrange this year's holiday compared with the package we took last year. So if you are prepared to hunt it is certainly possible as has been suggested earlier to arrange your own great deal.
Go for it! See our countdown clock - less than three months ago it wasn't even a dream.
