We were able to see Kool and the Gang and Starship. Both were really fun and the seats at that pavillion were just great. Kool and the Gang was the better of the two in MHO but both were full of energy and I was able to sing along.

On our way, we overheard some teenaged girl talking about all the "old" people reliving their youth with a roll of her eyes. Music does take one back!

I'm wondering who has seen who and if anyone was lucky enough to see the Beach Boys on Monday or Tuesday.

I was supposed to go see the Temptations yesterday but I didn't make it. :(

Some people were posting on the Theme Parks Board that the Beach Boys were awesome and that the line to get into their concert was stretching around the World Showcase.

What? You act surprised at that Michelle! LOL

Sorry you didn't get to see the Temptations! I know how that feels. I left 2 days before the Beach Boys. It made me nauseated to think I was so close and yet so far.

Thanks for your post though! I'll go look that up on that board. Good to hear it was a good concert. Maybe they'll return again someday!
Good to see you BTW!!:teeth:

Good to see you too, stop changing your name. ;) :p

Look for a post by safetymom, she started one specifically on the Beach Boys.

:)

I was there when Starship was playing. Hubby didn't want to see them as it was only Mickey Thomas from the original lineup.

Beach Boys fans, have you picked up Brian Wilson's 'Smile'? What an awesome disc!!

Gonna see Chubby Checker next month, woohoo!

Suzanne

I'll stop changing my name when I figure out cookies and cleaning up my computer and how to get back in this place!! LOL. Who else but me would have SO much trouble?

I'm specifically wondering WHO was there--Brian Wilson? I think he is the only one who can legally use the name "The Beach Boys". I saw Mike Love and his part of the group about 2 years ago and they were awesome! Well, maybe I'll find out sometime. I would have been in that line though. No question about that!

One of the things I'm most looking forward to when I get to Florida is being able to see all the EPCOT concerts! :Pinkbounc

I haven't been to WDW since May of 2003. When I was there during that trip I got to see The Turtles, a group who's name I can't remember (there were great!) and Paul Revere and the Raiders. This was the 3rd time I'd been lucky enough to see PR&tR perform. In fact, I booked my trip so I'd be there when they were playing.

Their show is one of the best I've ever seen anywhere. They are so talented and have such great music. My son and his g/f were also blown away by their performance.

Here's a picture of Carl, the lead singer. He's 55 years young! :earseek:

My oh My, what a fine looking man! :teeth: He had the ladies, both young and old, screaming like girls during a Beatles concert.

All the concerts are great but the Raiders have to be the best one that I've ever seen.

I am going to see Chubby Checkers when I am there. Now I like Chubby but I would of prefered someone else...I think for the last concert could of been someone else or maybe I am wrong, who knows but I will go and see him, how old is he, older then me that's for sure and I am 47. :D

We're going next week, so we'll be there for the Commodores (not a real thrill!) but then (insert drum roll here) THREE DOG NIGHT!!!!! Talk about reliving your teenage years! I'm so excited and we get to see them on my birthday!

I went last night to see Taylor Dayne. I watched 2 of her shows. She did great. I wanted to go see Kool and the Gang but just could not make it over there.

I am going to try my best to get over there for Survivor.

I have a question about these shows. Are all 3 shows the performer does the same? Do they do a lot of songs in that hour?

I dont know how the others went, can only tell you about Taylor Dayne.

She did the same songs and had the same clothes on for all 3 shows. They are given 30 minutes for each show. I think she sang 6 or 7 songs. She did speak to the audience too.

A friend who saw the Beach Boys show said they saw "the Beach Boy"...Mike Love being the only original member.

I agree about Brian Wilson's "Smile"...he's brilliant:D

Brian Wilson is obviously not the only one that can use "The Beach Boys" name since he was not there and that name was used in advertising. Same goes for the many tours over the last dozen years.

Mickey Thomas is not an original member of the different "Starship" bands. The best he can say is that he was on all the albums that carried only the "Starship" name (with no Jefferson preceding it). I saw Mickey and the new crew and was quite surprised on how Mickey can find the same sound. The new band wasn't too great, but they got the job done. It was pretty sad to hear them playing "Somebody to Love" during the second set. Dude, you were not even in the band when they wrote that song. I was happy they stuck to Mickey songs in the first set.

I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders a couple of years ago at Epcot, but the best thing was I then saw the lead singer, Mark Lindsey -- who is still looking pretty fine for a man in his 50's, in a SPEEDO at the Swan pool. :p Interesting choice of swim attire for a man in his 50's, but I gotta say, he pulled it off (not literally! :p )
