20031117--Illuminations Cruise (hopefully) or else B&C - November 17--INDEXED

Its not that I am unwilling...he has the contract! Or so I am assuming as he told me last we spoke via PM that his contact at Disney Catering had the contract in the mail to him. I don't know if we can call Catering and just get another contract and make a go of it ourselves or not.

I am still willing to do a meet as well, if you were thinking about just meeting somewhere that day and not counting on the dessert party.

contract option. Obviously Disney knows that there is a group of us planning on comming and it is the same group of people for the same party. I think if you called them and explained the situation maybe they would be willing to work with you or try to contack him as well! I would still like to try for the dessert party if
possible!!! Let me know if I can help!!!

Hi

I noticed that Mickeyfan1 had mentioned a contract, maybe you could get information from "him" as to how to obtain a contract for the party.

We are looking forward to meeting you for Illuminations Dessert Party.

Sending you some pixie dust to help out.

:D

Thanks to lizdotcom99 (Thanks Liz!) we are still a go. Liz is going to call on Monday, get us set up with a deposit and then we will all need to start sending her payments as soon as she lets us know things are set.

So keep an eye on this thread Monday and look for more updates.

I'm sorry about the lack of posts. I work for the school board and we are starting on Mondy and I've been putting in some (alot) of extra hours trying to get everything ready. The Lower Terrace isn't available and she reserved us in the UK Upper Terrace. I checked it out the other day and it is just as good ad the lower except it is a little higher.

Kids under 3 are free but we need to have a count of them too. We need to have a total count by 48 hours in advance. The cost is $22.50 with a 20% service charge and 6 1/2% sales tax. The signed contract is due on 10/22/03. I need to verify something on the contract on Monday. The total cost that I come up with is $28.75 each person, but when I take to deposit amount $659.25 ti equals out to $32.96. I will verify that and will put a post on Monday.

I will let you all know how it goes and post as soon as I get off of the phone. If anybody has insight for me, please feel free to share your words of wisdom and information. I have never done this before!!!! Thanks for the well wished and PD!! I appreciate it!!!

Robert, Thanks for taking care of this. If you need any help, let me know!!!!

How did the price go up to $32.75? You said something about a deposit? Doesn't the deposit come out of our final bill? If so, when we all pay you, shouldn't we just pay in full so it can all be taken care of? Am I missing some detail in the billing here? I was under the impression that the $22.50 plus gratuity and tax was all we had to pay.

Is there some minimum we had to meet? I think we all the people we have, we have 21 or 22 people. I think it's supposed to be less that $28.75 - I don't think you have to pay sales tax on the gratuity, just the $22.50.

Where did the figure of $659.25 come from? Is that on the contract?

Sorry for the questions, I am just not sure I am understanding it all.

The price of $659.25 is on the contract. When I calculated it out it came to the $32.75 figure. I think it should be less so I am going to contact them on Monday and ask them about it. It is called a deposit but it is the total payment for the dessert party. there will be no additional costs after we put in that monies. There is a minimun but as long as we have 20 we met it.

Wow, $32.75 is a lot to ask a 3-year old to pay for a glass of lemonade and a cookie (about all he can fit).

I just booked the same dessert party for 9/24/03. There is also a $90.00 Event guide fee. If you divide that between 22 people it is about $4.00 each. They informed me it was required with the event. They also take $22.50 x 6.5 (tax) then that total time 20% service. So you are actually paying gratuity on the tax. Seemed wrong to me, but that is how it was figured for our party. Hope that helps a little. We will also be on the upper terrace. I understand there is patio seating for 16 there, where as the lower area has no seating. It is a stand up event I was told. They do not set up any additional seating. Hope you all have a great time at your Dessert Party!!!:D

Ibelieve2, thanks for that. I forgot to add that into the amount into the total.

Barbeml I will verify with Disney, but I believe that children 3 and under is free just like the park enterence.

So is the $90 included in the $659.25? Or is that in addition to the $659.25? This is sounding less and less appealing.

I did a quick calculation and this is what it looks like to me

20 x 22.50 = 450.00
Catering fee 20% = 90.00

plus tax at .06.5% (on 450.00)= 29.25
plus gratuity at 20% = 90.00
Total amount 659.25

In my humble opionion it looks like we are being charged gratuity twice.

or there is a minimum of 24 required to attend.

dizzyintx no longer can join us as her group is no longer travelling to Disney in November. Don't know if this changes everything, but I think it puts us below 20 people total.

Robert, any news on the details of the contract?

If this is not going to work out people wise...is anybody interested in doing an Illuminations cruise.....we could always try to get 2 boats...that should be enough for all of us that are interested as each boat holds 12 people and then it would be about 10 bucks each plus tip??????Let me know what you all think as we don't have much time....the ressie needs to be made exactly 90 days out.
Liz

If the Dessert Party thing falls through the cruise sounds like a good idea. Last night as I read the latest updates here I thought about suggesting that we meet at Beaches 'n Cream for a Kitchen Sink party. Or just meeting up somewhere in Epcot. Maybe at the Canadian pavillion for an Off Kilter meet before Illuminations. It would be nice to meet a new bunch of Dis folks.

lizdotcom99 -I think calling for the boats might be a good deal too. A lot cheaper that's for sure, but probably harder to get. If we decide to go that route, I am willing to call and try and get one. How many boats go out on a given night for Illuminations? I know they are typically termed the 8pm Specialty Cruise, but is there just one boat? 90 days out is next Tuesday, August 19.

fixintodie - I also like your idea of meeting at B&C for the Kitchen Sink. That could be great fun and give people a lot more flexibility if they weren't sure of committing, but maybe wanted to show up.

Any other opinions on a back-up plan? The count that I have, especially if 3 and unders don't count towards the 20 minimum, is only 17.
