Just wanted to give you all alittle FYI. Groupon and/or Barnes and Noble have caught on to those abusing the loopholes with buying many GC and using them for the nook. B&N are no longer accepting GCs over the phone, and some stores are saying only 1 GC can be used, and there was even a poster who was told they couldn't use any. Can't say I'm surprised or that I'm not happy that those who tried to get away with something aren't going to be able to, but I'll be real mad if I can't use my GC for my measley little book purchase now

According to the terms of the Groupon you can stack 3 GCs on a purchase and the nook was not excluded, at least it wasn't listed specifically. You should be able to still do that but it looks like certain stores are telling people that they can only use 1 GC, or none. I don't know if any stores will allow them to be used on the nook at all so I guess it would just be wise to call your store and speak to the manager first.

Wait, how can they not honor the Groupon? I bought one also. Will Groupon refund the $10 if B+N won't honor the Groupon?

Well I went with the b&w because I'm not sure I can read a backlit screen for an extended period of time. I like the idea of the eInk (or whatever it is called) on the b&w one. The Color one does look great for someone without a smartphone...since you can use Pandora, check email, etc. However, I use my iPhone for almost anything I need when I'm on the go and I don't see that changing. I really see myself using this exclusively for reading. I travel for work so this will be awesome to take on the plane and on the road! So I weighed the options and saved the $$...hope I don't regret it!

No, I haven't yet...and I'm starting to get nervous about it. I was given the tracking # on 2/4, and then it was scanned in NV on 2/7. It shows that it left NV on 2/7 but there were no updates yesterday or today. Estimated delivery is Friday, 2/11.

I've never looked at SlickDeals before but I've gotten hooked on the thread about this deal. A bunch of them are reporting that their B&N gift cards had their balance erased down to $0 and some have had their Groupons canceled and refunded. I haven't received any emails from B&N or Groupon so I hope my Nook arrives eventually!

I'm really getting frustrated with this whole deal. DH and I had 2 books we wanted to buy. Then the groupon came out for B&N. YAY! Didn't read everything in the terms, just that it was 1 per person. Great. DH bought 1, I bought 1. If the order was over $25, we would get free shipping, so I put the 2 books on one order, rather than separating them, only to get the free shipping.

Yesterday I get an email saying my order was under security review! I freaked as I had no idea what that meant but it sounded super scary! Because they were computer books, I thought maybe they thought I was going to turn into a hacker or something. So I did a quick search, which took me to slickdeals. I haven't been on that site in a couple years but I am familiar with the hard core-ness of it. I just want to know what the heck will happen with my order and all they are talking about over there is printing them in a weird format, going to the stores to try to work a deal, doing returns, reselling nooks on ebay....all I freaking want are my 2 books! I would have separated the orders had I known this was going to happen! All to save a few bucks on shipping! DH is the type of guy that will just buy whatever without looking for a deal. He's gotten better over the years, but he still hates coupons and doing anything that requires and extra 5 minutes worth of work to save a few bucks. So I haven't told him about this yet and he was saying today he wishes the books would hurry up and get here!!! No clue what to do. I've thought about calling and just asking customer service if they can separate my order into 2 so it will process but from what I've read, they are being uncooperative. I tried to cancel my order yesterday (online) and got an email saying it couldn't be cancelled because it's already in the shipping process....but it's not. Ugh. I just want my 2 books!!! We were going to buy them from Amazon full price but then this deal came out the same day so we went with it instead. Anyone have any clue as to what will happen? I can't go back to slickdeals. So many of them talking about screwing B&N and I just want to buy 2 freaking books with 2 gift cards!

If I remember correctly, the conditions were "1/person, 1/transaction" - but I could be remembering the Living Social Amazon offer from a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone receive two codes yet from groupon? I got one for me to put on the nook account to order books for the nook. And I got one in DS name for regular books from the store. I did get one email with the link the very next day from groupon and used part of the gift certificate yesterday. Have not received any info for the second purchase yet. Just curious. D

It won't let me cancel. I already tried and I got an email back saying it couldn't be cancelled. It very well may have said 1 per transaction, but I didn't read that far. Hubby got one and I got one because I saw where it said one per person. The only reason we put it on one transaction was to save on shipping and since it let me enter two at check out, I didn't think anything of it until I got the scary email. If it would let me cancel and split the transaction, I would! I just want my two books!

No, I meant Barnes & Noble might end up canceling it for you - like they're doing with the scammers. NOT to imply that's what you're doing in ANY way!!!!!! I would just wait and see what they do. Tell your husband there's a backlog or delay due to the number of gift certificates sold/being used. It has to be somewhere in the vicinity of a million, and most people probably redeemed them right away. You're waiting to hear from B&N now.

Ok, gotcha! At this point I don't care if they cancel or not, but whatever they do, I would like to know so I can go buy the books somewhere else if we need to. I would have made two separate orders with them if I would have known this was going to happen.

I've been following this on Slickdeals and I guess the "rich get richer" phrase applies here as well.

Several people who bought 13 of these on the first day took them in-store immediately and were able to buy NookColors with them. Now, Groupon is canceling any B&N certificates that were purchased beyond the 1/account. So, of course, these people are getting 12 of them canceled, but Groupon has no way to track if they were used or not. So, these people are getting $130 refunded to them from Groupon, after purchasing the NookColor for 50% off. So, basically they got a NookColor for like $4.00 out of pocket for tax, plus $10.00 for the initial Groupon! $14.00! I guess that's why it is a "slick" deal.

Decided to call B&N to see if they could separate my order and it turns out my order had already been reviewed and would be shipped out today! WOOHOO!
Lesson learned- Read all of the terms and conditions...not just enough to answer the only question I had.
