Use OUTTAHERE through the 16th of this month for hotels at Disney at Orbitz.com.

Are there any disadvantages to using Orbitz? I'm getting a really good price from their website but something in me is causing me to be hesitant.

I have a couple Orbitz questions too...

1.How long is it before you can get a reservation number able to link to MDE after booking thru Orbitz
and
2. Can you make room location requests at all?

Glad to see the percentages-off going up a bit. I plan to book through Orbitz/CT for Easter week as soon as they allow booking past March 31 with a promo code.

You can link to MDE as soon as you get your email confirmation, which for me was instantly.

Disadvantages include having to pay in full right at booking. Also you can't book kids online because their system charges extra (even though kids are free to stay in room). Again, the many threads on here explained what to do -- just call Orbitz after booking and add the kids for no charge.

Many people say you need to make room requests on the phone with Orbitz, but after linking my reservation and getting everything else set up (calling to add ME, making my ADR's and FP's...), I called Disney and they called up my reservation and added my room requests. Just to double-check, I again called Disney about 2 weeks before our trip and asked if they had our room requests noted, and they read me back exactly what I had requested.

I was hesitant too last Easter when I booked through them. I made a search on here for "Orbitz" and read many threads about people booking through them which is what helped give me the courage to give them a try. I'm glad I did because I otherwise wouldn't have received a deal for Easter week last year.

I just booked through Orbitz for a stay in early February. Thanks to the OP for the discount code! I will be following up with Disney to request a room location and to check on their cancellation policy. Orbitz is letting me cancel without penalty up until 6 days before the trip - which is great - but it warns that Disney may have it's own policy.
I'm very pleased with the room rate through Orbitz.

Wholy cow! That code gives a much bigger discount for my March dates. I'm looking at the Wilderness Lodge and I can save $429.66 MORE than the 30% off rates for a week. Thanks for posting the code/offer.

Gosh - I too am hesitant to cancel my Disney reservation and book through Orbitz. This trip is a special trip with my son who will be graduating from HS next spring. It may be our last trip to Disney together so I really want it to be extra special.

So - no one has had any problems with checking into the Disney hotels using Orbitz? You can make rooms requests? And you get a confirmation immediately so you can make dining reservations and FP+??

If I book a 9 day vacation and then need to reduce down to 7, is that easily done with Orbitz without losing discount or reservation entirely?

TIA!!!

JB

I booked our stay in 2013 through Orbitz and had no issues, and just booked our upcoming January stay via Orbitz as we wanted Little Mermaid rooms at AofA, and their discount applies to these rooms whereas Disney excludes them from their current promo. For this stay, they emailed me my Disney confirmation number along with the confirmation so I can go in and get Fast Passes. As other said, you have to prepay the entire amount but it is refundable up until about a week prior to arrival.

We were resigned to paying through the nose (for us) for two club-level rooms at the Polynesian because no "lower level" rooms were available with the Disney Discount on the monorail.

With the Orbitz discount, we were able to book two garden-view rooms for the same price as one club-level room. Sure, I wanted to try the amenities of club level and no, our rooms won't be as nice BUT - to save over $2000 is worth it for us. So worth it.

TL:DR - thanks so much for posting the discount.

Dh and I are doing a split stay this Jan trip, CB and POR. I booked the CB thru orbitz but I was afraid to do the POR since we need to switch rooms. Has anyone done a split stay and used Orbitz on both ressie?

Typically, you have to rebook with Orbitz if you want to change the number of days, so that can be a problem if the room you want isn't available anymore.

thanks OP, just rebooked with them again and saved another $120. That's dinner for two! :thumbsup2;):)

Thank you so much OP for this! I had booked using the Disney Visa discount last week, and just rebooked through Orbitz the exact room/dates for March, and saved an additional $272 for my 7 nights at POR, Royal Room/garden view.

I haven't cancelled my Disney direct reservation yet, but will after I link the new one to MDE and see everything is set.

**Note to others with kids: The pricing was showing up more online, so I took the kids off and booked as 2 adults. I called 10 minutes later to Orbitz and added my two kids. The rep first told me I had to cancel and re-book. I explained that Disney doesn't charge extra for the kids, and that this is a known issue, and the kids needed to be added on after booking. She said she would call Disney and figure it out. I was on hold for about 5 minutes and she came back saying who she spoke to at Disney and the kids were added and gave me a long confirmation number that referenced the kids being added.

So easy peasy! I'm so glad I had already read about the issue with the kids! Hope this helps someone else:)

Thanks! It works for Universal hotels too, which is where I am heading in January for a quick trip with my DD to see the new Harry Potter stuff.

I assume you can still use ME? How did you find out about this? Is there a way to get notifications about resort room discounts? I don't get hoe if Disney is discounting WL for 30% it's less to get Orbitz for 20%....:confused3

It's on top of the 30%, they first deduct the 30%, then the 20%. If you go on their site just browse through rates, you can then decide if you want to book through them.

Disney will get your ressie and you'll be able to see it on Disney's system with the code that Orbitz provides. :thumbsup2

The only thing is that you pay for the whole thing at once, but Orbitz cancellation system is very easy, you just go online and you can cancel it.

Not an expert, but from what I am reading it seems the 20% discount code is in addition to the 30%. The rate reflected on Orbitz is the discount rate and adding the code will give you the additional 20% off.

If using the 20% discount from Orbitz in conjunction with a 30% discount from Disney, the bottom line discount amounts to 44% off rack rate.

Another point to keep in mind is that very often Orbitz room availability is different than direct-booking with Disney or other booking engines. Don't assume that if the resort and dates you want are not available on the Disney site that you won't find it on Orbitz, either, and vice versa. However, if you want the Orbitz discount, you have to go by Orbitz's room availability.
