I know I remember seeing a thread awhile ago, but can't seem to find it.:confused3

In our family we do the adult gift exchange (White Elephant) every year and I am just drawing a blank on ideas this year.

You'd think our family is a bunch of drunks because the younger couples all buy a case of beer and a gift certificate for the local gas station. LOL I know it's quick and easy for them, they just don't want to put a lot of thought into it...but I really want some different things to put in there this year.

Each couple has to bring 2 gifts (one per adult) so I need at least 2 ideas that are somewhat unisex.

Last year I found a vacuum for $25 on black friday and put that in there and I tell ya what, the new couples fought over that...however when I talked to my SIL she said it worked great for about 3-4 months then went kaput so I decided not to do another one of those.

Last year we got a bean bag toss game (handmade) and that was my favorite one yet!

So please give me some ideas for this year...my brain is just fried trying to come up with anything fun and new!

Thanks guys, you're the best!

How about a box of microwave popcorn, a couple bags or boxes of chocolate, two 20-oz sodas and a gift card for Blockbuster?

Is your exchange good gifts or funny gifts? I know that the big thing right now (for kids and grown up kids too, especially men) is the marshmallow shooters. They have them at Bed Bath and Beyond, they're like $14.00, add a few bags of marshmallows and you're set.

If you need like real gifty type gifts how about my old standby a movie basket. Everybody likes to get a basket, pick up a couple of DVDS, add some microwave popcorn, in your case maybe a six pack ;) or a bottle of wine and some boxes of movie candy.popcorn::

how 'bout:

* that new perfect brownie pan w/the pre-slice insert

* lottery tickets...bouquet of scratch off and draw tix on floral pics, maybe even in a poinsetta (if no one has pets)!

* snugglie

It's suppose to be good gifts. I am actually getting my 2 boys the marshmallow shooters! They are gonna LOVE those!

I did the movie basket a couple years ago, maybe I'll do another one of those, but hopefully there will be some additional inspirations as well. :)

We're doing a $25 version of what your family does. Here's what I am doing:

1. A nostalgic electrics hot dog toaster
2. A crockpot + a crockpot cookbook
3. A snuggie (got for $5 after a $10 JCP coupon) and a $20 GC to half-price books
4. A games basket...dominoes, card games, domino trays.

Family Game Night Ideas:
Board Games
4-5 of those newer Card Game Packs
A funky looking Family Game Trophy
dice, etc
Popcorn

We do the same thing in our family. It doesn't work great because of our age range and not really enough people. This year I think we have people ages 84,84,58,57,44,42,41,33,29,26,25. Not all interested in the same stuff! 1/2 don't drink ANY alcohol, so that is out.

I bought.... a bed pillow :rotfl: I know it will be popular. These are practical people. Most probably sleep on a $5 wal-mart pillow. So this $25 micro down pillow should feel fantastic! I still need one more gift...so I will watch your thread!

We did that last year- I got a couple of frames at Kohls on one of their 1/2 off sales. I got one that said Family and one that said Love, they each held 1 picture. They were very popular.
