Lost in the hub-bub of the Free Dining offer yesterday is a 20% discount for campsites at Fort Wilderness "most nights" between Aug 1 and Nov 5.

Testing the pricing for mid-week in September shows a Preferred for $65 a night. That is 20% off.

I'm sure sites are limited. This came out a little earlier than it has in past years but this is about the only general discount that's available for campsites.

PS - Doubt it will apply to busy times like around Halloween or Labor Day Holiday weekend but it never hurts to try. Also curious as to how many, if any, Friday and/or Saturday nights are included.

PPS - don't know why that shows the package blip because I only checked room only. But I priced it out, went to check out, declined tickets, and the total with tax was $364.50 for 5 Preferred nights.

Campsites are 8/26-10/1

It would be nice if the official offer said that, wouldn't it? I guess it's in one's interpretation of "most nights" between Aug 1 and Nov 5. The pricing tool shows October dates with the "Back to School Savings" tag but the rate is the non-discounted rate.

Oh well, get September while you can.

October I could have jumped on and brought the girls down during their fall break. September does nothing for me as they are in school. Oh well...

Yea wish i could take advantage. But not sure of a few things right now.

Thank you very much Bama Ed! We just saved 175.00 on our already made September reservation. My sister and husband will be traveling from Texas to meet us at the Fort and will be staying with us in our TT. Its been 13 years since my sister and I have seen each other. We are both very excited! Thanks again Bama Ed.

Sadly, No discount for our August 14 - 20 Trip. :(

I did however have a long chat with a CM that was trying to tell me that there were NO DISCOUNTS for the campsite. She ended up finding out that they ARE offering a discount from 8/26 - 10/1. It's outside of both our booked trips so no discounts for us. :(

Your post made my day, FortWildernessCamper! You are quite welcome - happy it helped someone. Bama Ed

Do they ever have campsite discounts in the spring? Or is fall the only time?

For those who have camped at Disney, what's your experience like?

We've camped a few times and it is wonderful. It's my favorite place to go. Last trip I stayed at another resort with my daughter and while it was beautiful I truly missed the Fort. Mostly I have been spoiled by the fabulous location, it really can't be beat. It's a beautiful campground, incredibly clean.

Fall is the only time, specifically September mostly.

Spring has spring break with lots of travelers, it's relatively dry, so there is no need to discount sites to fill them. In September, it's still the rainy season that comes with summer, school is back in session, so they pull out the discount.

A good bit of business takes place on weekends in the fall/spring as locals (those within a couple hours' drive of WDW) will come in and book up sites well in advance. Spring being about mid Feb-May and Fall being about Oct-Dec weather-wise. So September is kinda left hanging out there. If you look at the crowd calendars at easywdw.com, you can see what I mean. June-September have around a 50% chance of rain daily at least (plus the heat and humidity). October it drops down to about half that (March is the same as Octoboer).

This is the third year in a row WDW has offered a general discount for campsites and it's the only one that comes along generally. I noticed the time around Labor Day weekend is not eligible (which is expected) because I'm considering a trip in 2017 around that holiday weekend but prices aren't as high as they are other times.

Again, it's all about filling rooms/heads-in-beds/maxing out inventory. Disney's not going to give money away via a discount if they don't have to.

Loved it! Beautiful resort, nice campsite, good comfort stations, right across the pond from MK. It's a Disney-loving camper's dream, really.

We went mid-March and the weather was fine. Wouldn't think of doing it in Orlando summer (May - September) or midwinter (Jan-Feb), though.

Darn missed it by a week, we are going Nov11-15th
If you are staying at the campground you missed it by more than a week. If you look at the "Offer Highlights" under the Value Resorts where they have the campground listed, they are only offering it for 8/26 - 10/1. They are however offering it in the Cabins (Moderate resorts) 10/2 - 11/5, which of course is the one you would have just missed.

We missed the first one by about a week early. We are checking out on 8/20. Oh well... We didn't book with the intention of getting a discount, but it sure would have been nice.

Another Thanks Bama Ed! We saved $175 for a week in September. This is tough to say (living in Volunteer country) - ROLL TIDE!!!

We have had reservations for beginning Sept. since last year. I called Disney last week and asked about the discount. Was put on hold for 10 minutes while CM goes to supervisor, CM comes back and asks were I heard/read about the discount then advised me that nothing was available.
