20% Code????

Hi Everyone -
Although I have been a silent lurker for months now, I am a newbie at actually posting! First off - I can't tell you how helpful this site is and how much I enjoy reading everyones good luck and frustrations!!!! This site is a gem. So since I have taken so much from here, I thought I would share my story and ask for your advice.

I am looking to go to disney Aug 29-Sept 6....hoping to take advantage of the slower time and potentially the offer of free dining. However, after reading all the posts of the 40% code, I was hoping for that to come my way. Since I am planning to stay at the Beach Club with my DH, DS (3) and DD(1) - the room discount would benefit me more.

So I called last week and was presented with the rack rate offer of 4433 for 8nights at Beach Club, DP and 9 day Park Hoppers. When I asked him to look for a code, he informed me that I had one linked to my name but that I needed to travel by the end of February. So I asked him for the break out on the room cost so that I could calculate the savings if I were lucky enough to get the 40% coupon and Low and Behold - he realized there were more dates associated with my code. However, he was not able to give me any details about the code except to say it was actually under my husbands name.

So he continued to type away and presented me with the offer for the same package for 3840. I was so excited and told him to put it on hold so I could talk to DH. Once I got off the phone, I did some calculations and determined that the code only provided me a 20% discount on the room....now I know getting any discount is better than none, so I am not complaining - but I admit I am a little disappointed.

I called back and asked if there were any other codes associated with my account....some quickly told me no, another told me I would only get one, and others looked but confirmed this was the only one I had. b One even admitted that he thought if I were going to get the 40% off one, I would have by now - but then quickly caveated that with the fact that he didn't know what the marketing dept's strategy was.

So here are my questions:

1. Has anyone else gotten this code? Why haven't I read about anyone else getting this code? It just seems odd.

2. Do the CMs get credit when you inquire, book AND pay deposit in the same call? Or was putting it on hold helpful to the CM I talked too? Or will the person that I pay the deposit to get the credit?

3. What is the likelyhood of getting another discount when I already have one associated with my name? And if I actually put the deposit down, do I still even have a shot - or do they just assume they already got me?

4. Do they keep track of how many times you call in their system?

I know I am being a little greedy wanting more of a discount when I know so many aren't getting any, but the 40% would be a really nice savings - however, I will take what I get and then hope for the free dining (which actually will give a better savings compared to what I have now).

Sorry for the lengthy post and potentially dumb questions - but I really enjoy trying to get the best deal even though it stresses me out to no end!! And I really value everyone's advice on these boards!

I got the 20% off code yesterday in the mail. It's my first one ever! I called and asked if there was another one becauce I keep reading about 40% one. They said this is the only one but that I will most likely be gettting more offers this year.

kt_mom, I am not sure the dates since none of the CMs would give me specifics on the code. They only told me whether dates I picked would work. I did check October 3-11 and was told they didn't work. They said the code becomes available again on the 18th of Oct....so they almost sound the same as the other code's dates. However, maybe Dancemomnj can provide more details since she actually has the mailing.

Yeah - I just put down my deposit for Aug 29-Sept 6.....I figure 20% is still a great deal (even if its not 40% ) and who knows - maybe something more will show up down the line! Thanks for the info!

I called them last week & I had a 40% off code-(it wasn't or me week though). I then called yesterday & the 20% off code was under my name & they couldn't find the 40% off any longer. They may have to look deeper in the codes or something.

I paid full price last July and November the year bofore so I was happy with the 20%. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the 40%!!!

I just called and had the 20% off as well. Now to decide whether to go. We will be there in 18 days, so if we go in December it would be worth upgrading our tickets to APs.

When I asked (after calling in several times) I was told that I had a code that essentially got me 20% off a Beach Club Villa 1BR rack rate. The CM was pretty insistent that over the long run, that 20% discount would be worth more to me as part of the MYW package vs. the 20% room-only AAA discount that I was trying to book for. Since it was the same value at this point in time, I didn't argue.

I then asked if that quoted rate allowed me to still be eligible for the free dining offer and she said yes. Now I know that most people say you can't use 2 discount codes, but she specifically said that I would be able to. If not, we'll have to see which to take, 20% or dining. With the ability to have breakfast & snacks in the villa, it's probably a break-even.

Does anyone know the answer to the OP's question 3 and/or 4? I have the code that expires in March for the waterparks add on. We travel in August.

I got the same code and dates that Dancemomnj got. Unfortunately, none of the dates work for my trip.

I called today and also had the 20% off code. There was no code last week. I ordered a planning DVD last week, so that may have triggered the code.

It had similar dates to what has been posted (late Sept through 10/18 was blocked off) so we booked 10/19-25 (we plan to go 10/15 or 16 - 10/25) at the Poly, GV for around $320/night + tax. Still debating what to do since we can get a rate of $199 at the Swan with DH's government discount. We'll probably end up with a split stay unless I can get a deeper discount at a monorail resort of our liking! 40% would have been nice!!

She did try booking room + tickets but the tickets weren't discounted, so I went with a room-only ressie for the better cancellation policy.

Mine was also saying the planning DVD was on it's way and it came the next day. It sounds like that may be how we got the 20% , by ordering the DVD.
