You're right about the money I'm sure. How sad. It all started here and Disneyland and DisneyWorld should be the flagships and as such, the best of the best.

I do love the old Disney standards, POC, COP, Haunted Mansion, heck even Small World and I'm the only one in my family that starts singing "in the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki tiki room" when we get near Adventure Land. They all take off in opposite directions! But I have to agree with others posted here that 20,000 Leagues was dismal. When I first went on it at Disneyland, (won't say how old I was, let's just say I was there) it was pretty neat for a kid in that day and age. When I went on it later in Florida, it was just sad. I mean really, fish tied to strings floating in a murky pond? It was definitely an attraction that had to be seriously updated or lose it all together. I don't think you can compare the experience you had there with other original Disney creations (listed above).

It is time the truth is told about 20k. The subs were sent to Europe for Euro-Disney but they got tied up in Govt. red tape and England aquired rights to them in lieu of storage fee. They in turn sold them to Canada. The world knows the end result.

Seriously I enjoyed the ride as both a child and adult.

Glad Mr. Bush is coming to Canada soon. It is time our two country restore complete good will.

20,000 was great. I love rides that take you into the water. I was sad when it closed.

I was disappointed that it closed. I understand that it was moist and outdated but it was fun for the kids. I wish my DS could've experienced it just once. But the fact that there using that space for a character meet and greet is just deplorable. they really need to put something good there. I wonder whatever happened to the rumor of a villian themed coaster in that area?

I definitely have some nostalgia for the ride (connected to my love for the book and movie), but I agree with others that it was not an attraction that needed to be saved. It didn't have the same iconic quality as some of the older attractions that have remained favorites. It showed its age more than others and there were design flaws that just made it seem sub-par, not of the high quality that people expect of a Disney park.

That being said, it would be fantastic to have an ocean themed attraction that incorporated updated technology. I'm guessing they could even adapt some of their designs from the Tokyo park.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea! Grew up with it and loved it. A trip Disney wasn't complete unless I went on "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" and of course a few others. Years later as I took my oldest DS then 4 (now 18) to DW, I told him all about it as we waited in line and when he finally took the steps down into the submarine and took his seat I saw a look of fear on his face. He really thought, as I did as a child that we were really going to go way down deep to the bottom of the sea. He had a blast and loved it too. I'm sad that my 2 youngest DS's (6 & 8) will never get to experience the journey to the bottom of the sea. I know they would have loved it too.

For what it's worth, I bought the DVD set listed on the link below and one of the attractions on it was WDW's 20k ride. It was an absolute blast watching what the ride was like all over again. The picture is decent, considering they are probably recorded off of VHS tapes but I didn't care. Well worth it to me for the cheese factor
