I was reading the description of Castway Cay on Wikipedia, and it states the following:

Facilities
"Two submarine-ride vehicles from the now-closed 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage ride at the Magic Kingdom lie underwater in the snorkeling area. The Flying Dutchman from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies is on display in the lagoon."

Has anyone seen the submarine's in the snorkle area? If so, where are they? I have only seen the Mickey statue and a few placed "artifacts".
:confused3 :confused3

We've been to CC twice and snorkeled the little cove with the statues and never saw a submarine! We did get to see the Flying Dutchman and got some really cool pictures.

When we were at Disneyland in March, the castmembers at the Nemo ride told us the submarines were the same ones they used in the old ride, just painted. Who knows?:confused3

I know they used to have at least one and I imagine it is still there. I saw it in the snorkeling area a few years ago. I thought it was near the Mickey statue but perhaps I'm wrong. But I do remember seeing it

I know that there is one 20,000 Leagues sub in the snorkel lagoon, because I saw it myself in June (2008)!

That is my TR referenced in post #3 above.

Here is a photo of my DD with the sub:

It is hard to get a good photo, because it is so big, and if you get too far back, it does not come out in the photo.

If you want to read more about this, check out this great site:

Here are a couple of photos from that site:

All of the underwater objects are marked with buoys (which I think is new). The sub is located about in the middle of the lagoon.

I can still rembmer riding 20K as a child, I guess I should consider myself lucky to have been able to be part of such an event. BTW, you really do have some of the best information. I have your TR saved to refernce for our first cruise late September.

The link you posted was a bit depressing, but you know Disney always looking to "Keep moving Forward"

The Nautilus will be missed, and I may get a little teary eyed when we visit CC and go snorkeling to find the sunken submarine.

We just came back from a Double Dip and snorkled to it both times. There are now white or red balls floating near each of the main items sunk for snorkelers. We had a blast snorkeling!

:cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2

Wow, Thanks for the information, now I am really looking forward to snorkling this time, just to find something NEW.

I remember the buoys being there during our double dip cruise in 2006. It was sunken mickey back then, and not sunken minnie like TCD was able to see on his cruise.

TCD - thanks so much for sharing your cute pictures! We've been to Castaway Cay twice and neither time were the sunken treasures buoyed to help you find them. I'll be glad for that when we return there next year!

Is the Minnie statue new? When we went the first time, we didn't see any statues (Hurricane Wilma had recently went by). On our second try we got to see Mickey. I don't remember any colored statues. Are there others?

Thanks again for sharing! Gives me something new to look forward to!

Yes, the Minnie statue is new. It was first reported here on the Disboards sometime in the past few months. Mickey is currently not there. We did not see any other statues, colored or otherwise, but there are a lot of other props, including the sub.

It seems like DCL must periodically rearrange the props in the lagoon. I am not sure when Mickey is coming back.
