my son will be 2 next summer and we plan on going to disney again next summer, were going this summer but not takinh him. do you think he will be too young to go?

No, no, no and NO!

My kids are almost 3 and 1 and my son (the oldest) has been to WDW 3 times and my daughter has been once. We took my son for his 1st birthday and, although he was "only" 1, he had a great time! He loved the characters, colors, music, scenery and being in a magical environment with those who love him most.

My daughter's first trip was when she was 3 months old and I know she remembers nothing, but the pics we have of her with the characters are just priceless.

We're going again in 6 weeks and my son is now VERY excited. His favorite thing is the Haunted Mansion and he can't wait to go on. He watches home videos from my honeymoon of the actual ride and has even memorized the narration!

From my experience, no age is too young! The whole purpose of going to WDW (imho) is to be with those you love in a fantasy world full of wonderful characters, music and stories. It brings you closer as a family and is an amazing, magical experience for EVERYONE!

Take your son - you won't regret it! :wizard:

I would go during cool weather. We were there at the end of May and I saw SO MANY little kids that were crying! I think the combination of the long days, weather and excitement is too much for most of them.

I personally waited until my children were at least in kindergarten.

Definitely not. DD7's first trip to WDW was at 25 months. She didn't understand everything, but she had a great time. She was really delighted with everything--the characters, the bright colors, the happy music, the general hubbub. We have wonderful pictures and memories. To be honest, we didn't do a lot. I think we went to MK one afternoon/evening, we hit all the character meals at the resorts and we went to Downtown Disney. That was about it. We probably could have done more, but it was perfect for us! Enjoy!

My dd is 3 and is about to take her 3rd trip to WDW. The first trip was when she was 14 mos old, then we had her 2nd bday there and now we are going again. We also did the Disney cruise in Nov. I would definitely take your son. My DD has a blast and is telling everyone that she is going to WDW.

As for the cranky kids, yes you will see those. Just be sure to take your son back to the room to nap or for a swim. My DD will just crash in her stroller so we use that time for shopping. She is in the a/c that way and can't grab anything off the shelves! We have never had a problem with DD being one of those cranky kids.

Take your son and have a great time!

We took our DD on her 1st & 2nd b-day's. She loved it. She still remembers it. That maybe because we watch the video every Sunday. But if she's standing in line for something ie. The Great Movie Ride, and ask her what she's waiting for she'll tell you Mary Poppins, the gun fight, the bad girl tries to take the red rock, and the munchkins! It amazes me how much she remembers. I don't think there ever too young to go.
Before I had her I would say "I'm not taking her until she's at least 6" Yeh right that went right out the window. It's a family place so why not bring your family. Trust me your little one is not to young and he will have a ball!

In 2003 we took our 15 month old neice and she really seemed to enjoy herself. Granted she has no real memory of the trip-- but at the time she was having fun. We did go in off season as I couldn't imagine taking babies and toddlers in very high heat.

We are going again w/ my sister's family this next winter and her kids will now be 3.5 and 20 months.

youngest dd is going with us next week. She turns two the day we leave.
We will have pictures and video for her to remember the trip by. She will be there many times so hopefully she will love it. If you ask her who she is going to see at disney she says Mickey, Minnie, Cindy, & she makes a noise that sounds like Donald for him.

I can't wait. :cheer2:

Our dd was 2.5 yo during our May trip. She had so much fun! As far as the heat goes, she actually did better than her almost 5 yo brother. I guess it just depends on your child.

We've taken our son every year since he was born and he's going to be 12 this year. Each year, he has been aware of different things and even on his first trip at 3 months (DisneyLand) and his second at 10 months (DisneyWorld), he had so much fun. No, he doesn't remember either of those trips, but we all love looking at the pictures and he's already asked if we'll all still go every year even after he has his own kids - OF COURSE!!!!! We now have a 2 year old and she has gone at 3 months and at 15 months. We're going again in July (she'll be 26 months). I can't imagine not taking them both. Sure, there are things we can't do with them and we won't stay from sunup to sundown, but we'll enjoy it all, every minute. They're so little for such a short time and I know that there will be a time they may not want to hang with mom and dad quite so much, so we'll cherish every second of their childhood and simply manage our expectations. I don't think you are wrong or making a mistake either way you decide, but I do hope you'll consider taking your son this year.

We will be taking our two-year-old in October, along with our four-year-old. My older daughter has been every year since she celebrated her first birthday year. The younger daughter was on a Disney Cruise at 9 months and at Disney for her first birthday. We also went again about 6 months later because we bought a timeshare! I find that with every different age, they enjoy something totally different.

Of course, you have to look at the park differently. We stay at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge because it is easier to get the strollers on the boat than on a bus. And we spend most of our time in the MK. I think we'll actually see more of AK and MGM this time than we have before because the 4-year-old is starting to like new things.

You'll have a fantastic time. Just do your research, and remember where the changing station is behind Crystal Palace. :sunny:

We took our youngest when she was 2. She remembered more than I ever thought she would. For instance, on the next trip (age 4), she asked why we did not go to that Mickey show where he was on the mountain, and the fire was on the water (Fantasmic). I was shocked- We have no pictures of that show, so she could not have remembered it from that.

At that age everything is new, and exciting. Even if they don't get memories, you will every time you look at the photos of your trip. My daughter was in absolute awe during that trip.

Hey- 2 y.o are free for everything too, so what's to lose? The only thing it cost was the air fare, and a few chicken nugget meals, when my oldest was too hungry to share hers.

Have a great trip.
