2 year-old...what bday gift??

Do they spend alot of time outside?

If so, I would get something for outside play since we are headed into summer.

Someone is going to kill me when I say bubbles, but my kids still love them at (they are 9, 6 & 4). They even have the huge bubbles that moms & dads have to blow. I love when my kids were little & would run & chase bubbles since it tired them out!

But ask the parents.

I have 4 kids (all over 2) and not a one of them really cared for Little People. We had tons given to us and they never played with any of it much. :confused3

I agree with the PP, I am never happy with paint, play-doh, etc b/c of the mess, although my kids love all that stuff. But I'd check with her parents before you bought anything and/or give gift receipts so they can return if they don't want their kid to have that or get duplicates. :)

When my dd's were 2, they loved:

Dress up outfits, "glass" slippers, tiaras and jewelry
instruments
dora/diego/mickey, etc dvds
playfood & dishes
bath toys & colors, especially Crayola Color Bath Dropz
Outside toys like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, balls, etc
Toy shopping cart & cash register
baby dolls

I miss that age. :sad1: My girls are almost getting too old for girly toys and are moving into the era of iPods and Wii.

I second (third? fourth?) the Little People suggestion. My youngest will be 2 in July and the Little People dollhouse she got for Christmas is one of her very favorite toys; we're planning on expanding the collection for her birthday. They're relatively inexpensive, so for $20ish you can get a nice sized set, and they last. My 8yo played with hers until she was 5 or 6 (we'd just gotten rid of them when we found out we were expecting the youngest.).

Our toddler's very favorite toy is a Mickey Mouse playground ball from the grocery store, but at $3 it might be a little cheap-looking as a gift unless you paired it with something else, maybe sidewalk chalk or bubbles or some other small, fun, outdoor toy.

I second the Play Food and dishes! Even a play kitchen. My Dd loved to "make" us food in her kitchen and serve it to us at her little plastic table. She played with the food for years and it was recently used as a prop for her 7th grade drama club :lmao:.

You guys are such a BIG help. :grouphug:

I will let you know which great idea I go with!

Jill

Thanks all! I got the water table...very cute and nice for her patio here in Arizona.

I loved all the ideas and I think my daughter is going to get her a sleeping bag too.

:)
