2 Weeks in the World (and still not enough!) ~~UPDATED 9/17! Work calls & a kink~~

Love the TR- I'm actually tearing up b/c it is making me remember my DS' first trip and their expressions! Can't wait for more- and sorry about your great grandma!
Awww - I'm glad you are taking a stroll down memory lane via my TR! Thank you for your condolences.

Love the bows you made for you daughter's hair and the invite so cute.
I am also loving your trip report. One day I am hoping that more of my family will join me at disneyworld
Thank you! Right now we are trying to figure out when our next trip(s) will be. My dad has suggested Nov 28 - Dec 8 2008 but Mom Mom and Dee Dad will not be able to go then since they just received their half of the funeral bill - $8k! :scared1: :scared1: I couldn't believe it cost $400 to place the obituary in the paper for ONE day! So we are also thinking about spring and giving Mom Mom and Dee Dad a chance to pay that bill down, but BIL can't go in May bc that is when his busy season begins at his store. We're not sure if they are planning a couples only trip somewhere or not so that may or may not be a factor. I would love to go back for Mother's Day/my mom's bday/Dee Dad's bday. It really is fun having a larger group (most times at least! :) )

Loved your last installment! You took some really great pics!
I'm glad you are enjoying the TR and photos!

Next installment should be up later this afternoon/early evening!

Loving your report. Your kids are so adorable. :cutie: Your pictures are so awesome. Looking forward to reading more :surfweb:

I'm really enjoying your report so far. Your kids are SO adorable! I love all of your creative stuff too. Looking forward to more. :)

aww... I know what you mean about the man during the parade. I had a similar experience during my last trip.. it's in my TR that's linked in my sig.
The kids are so cute!
I hope you get to go back in May.. it's my favorite time of the year! :)
Lovin the report so far and can't wait to read more! I leave in 6 days and I am soooo ready to go!

After a magical transformation at the Baby Care Center, DD and DS were ready for the P&PP! Everyone else was just, well, ordinary! LOL! I had these great visions of us dressing up – my dad wanted him and BIL to dress up as the evil stepsisters, but BIL wouldn’t do it. At the very least, I wanted to make up some cool t-shirts. Nope. Never made them. I ran out of time. I was a bit bummed about that, but as we headed back towards the main entrance to get our wristbands, I noticed that only the kids were dressed up. There were a few POTC shirts and such on adults but I didn’t see any cool costumes from the adults.

P&PP was just beginning and in my plans of plans, we were supposed to be finished with CP with enough time to change the kiddos and get in line for Cpt. Jack first by 6:45pm. In my fantasmical plans, we also would have had the wristbands, but we were on POTC at the time. OK, I knew (thanks to Disboards) the locations of the coach and throne and where to go for Cpt. Jack. I had a schedule in my head of how to see everything at this party. We were already 20 minutes behind schedule! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Receiving our wristbands and a time schedule of the shows, we head back down Main St. BIL and my sister head in their direction while Pop Pop, Nonna, DD, DS and I go towards Fantasyland with a quick detour to take a picture w/ Cpt John Smith and Pocahontas.
311935157_DBQhf-M.jpg

WHAT?! Hello?! Cpt. Jack! Nonna’s favorite is Cinderella and she really wanted to see the coach. She also wanted a pic of DD with the coach all dressed up as Belle before she got too tired. OK. DD was beautiful and who was I to argue about getting pictures of my little princess. We get on a very looooonnnng line which moves about as sloooooowww as a snail. Poor DS is teething very badly on this trip and his bib is absolutely soaked. Pop Pop heads out to find a new bib for DS since all the extras are back at the room. He has to buy one at the Baby Care Center and it’s a pirate one! WooHoo! Fits the theme and makes it back in time for the picture – about 30 minutes later!
What everyone should do when they get a photopass!

After our pictures, we went over to Sebastian’s Dance Party. DS boogied down with a goldfish. DD was in her own world rockin’ and rollin’ to the music.

Part II cont'd below

We check the time and it’s getting close to the parade. BIL and my sister call and they are heading towards the castle to find a spot. OK, we’ll find you. And we did. We got a decent spot. Decent as in DD was able to see by being held, but me being 5’4” could not see much with the gentleman standing in front of me except on tip toes.
311935705_8BoKp-M.jpg

DS was getting very sleepy at this point so my sister rocked him to sleep and he was off before the parade began. It was getting a bit chilly so the blanket and jacket that Nonna made me bring, came in handy. I tucked him in the stroller and he was dreaming Mickey dreams.
311934157_FFvdb-M.jpg

The parade was wonderful, albeit my pictures didn’t come out like I had hoped. Pop Pop took over some of the picture taking so we didn’t get as many back of heads as I was getting! I was impressed with the likeness of Cpt. Jack to Cpt. Jack and even Cpt. Barbossa. I really enjoyed the parade.
311934030_vVRsB-M.jpg

(Of all the jobs at Disney, this one really stinks!) LOL! :lmao: OK, bad joke!

The fireworks, well that was another story. Apparently, DD has sensitive ears like me. Growing up I hated fireworks. Fireworks still bother me, and I will say that I tolerate them, although Disney fireworks aren’t as bad since there is music and a story to follow. Pop Pop took DS into the stores during the fireworks so he would not wake up and Nonna quickly had to bring DD in there too as she became scared. Pop Pop was able to use an old ‘trick’ – one he used with me, to get her to watch them by the end of our trip.

And where are the pictures of the fireworks? Well, they looked absolutely horrendous and had lots of heads in the way so I won’t post any! As much as I tried to enjoy them, I kept kicking myself for not bringing my tripod with me. How dumb!

After the fireworks, we went over to the throne and had some more pictures.

By this time, DD was getting tired and tired of having her picture taken. What? A princess tired of having pictures taken of her? Well, yes, especially since we’ve been up for close to 19 hours. DS is still sleeping soundly in the stroller. We decided that we needed to get some rest and headed back down Main St. to the bus depot.
370186892_BXzB4-M.jpg

I did not meet Cpt. Jack :sad2: , we didn’t see the shows :sad1: , and we didn’t meet Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc as Pirates nor Minnie and Daisy as Princesses :guilty: . I was bummed since they were the things I was looking forward, especially meeting Cpt. Jack. No swooning this year (fingers crossed that a trip is planned during P&PP next year!)

What did I learn about P&PP? 1) With 2 children at this young age, it is not possible to do it all. 2) Bring your tripod! 3) Don’t plan P&PP for your 1st night (this was the only time we could do it w/ BIL and my sister since they would not be staying the entire 2 weeks). 4) If possible, attend a 2nd night to split up the must do’s. 5) Write to Disney about the lack of a map for the event! I knew where everything was thanks to Dis’ers but come on, you spend the extra money and people don’t know where everything is being offered! They have maps for MNSSHP and MVMCP!

Returning to our room after a short wait for the bus, I quickly get the now both sleeping children into pajama’s and tuck them into bed. DS is in Nonna & Pop Pop’s room in the playard and DD is sharing the pull out sofa bed with me in the living room. BIL and my sister get the 2nd bedroom. I climb into bed, turn on the TV since I can’t fall asleep w/o TV (awful, isn’t it?) and try to ignore the bedsprings jabbing my left calf and right upper back and concentrate on how tired I am and our new day that awaits us!

Up next! Was it a restful sleep? Day 2: DHS and Fantasmic!

Oh if I could, the kids and I would be on a plane now! Not sure what is going on yet w/ the trip plans. My dad is still looking at Dec. but my grandparents were talking to my Mom and they would be able to do spring. So I hope we can do spring if not both!

I love your pics from the P&PP! I would love to get to a party during a visit! Your daughter looked so cute! I love the pic of her and the fountain! And I think it is just hard to do everything planned with kids at that age! I know with our trip we had to deviate from plans quite a bit!

Just signing on for your trip report. You are a brave person for trying to go to WDW with two children who are so young. But it had to have been fun to see things through their eyes too.

Anyways, your trip report is great and you are super creative! DD is just plain gorgeous and DS is a cute-pie.

Your daughter and son are so cute :goodvibes out of curiosity how do you pronouce your daughters name?

I'm glad you are enjoying the pics! Our plans usually just include our dining ressies, we normally don't pick a park until that day or night before! We'll park hop for ressies and such. We've gone so many times to know how to work the parks, but since this was my first party I wanted some sort of plan. Oh well, next time I should just go with it!

Thank you and welcome aboard!!!!!! I'm very lucky that (for the most part) my children are pretty easy going.

Thank you. DD's name is pronounced Si(short i) bella

Next installment is coming up! Yesterday was DD's 2nd birthday!!!!

To say that I had a restful sleep would be a lie so big that would make Pinocchio’s nose seem small. I spent most of the night watching the Disney Top Lists, trying to ignore the pain increasing throughout my body from the dead mattress. I kept thinking, “Calling Mousekeeping – they have to have a spare mattress.” DD slept like a rock. Doesn’t hurt when your 22lbs and don’t budge the springs when you lay on them! I am not proud to say that I was the first one up for the day, long before I heard the hungry cries of DS coming from the master bedroom. I got up and made his bottle, glancing at the clock. 7am on the dot. Geez, DS must have a built-in alarm clock. :rotfl2: Pop Pop came out to make his bottle and was surprised to first, see me awake, and second have the bottle ready to go.

Here are the only 2 pics I have of the room (I know 5000+ pics and this is it).

366236495_YRzZH-M.jpg

It wasn’t too long after that I heard BIL’s phone ringing from their bedroom. This was NOT a good thing. It was his full time employee calling with a question about the truck delivery. Then, 10 minutes another call. Another 15 minutes, ring, ring! Half hour later, yup you guessed it! BIL was fuming! He called his district manager to see if he could help or if another store’s manager could, but the answer was no. Nice! DD woke up by this point and DS was ready for his breakfast – oatmeal and pears. Baby food – yum! LOL! DD opted for sharing Pop Pop’s bowl of Cheerios while I grabbed a Weight Watchers chocolate chip muffin. Whenever we stay at a DVC resort, we always begin our mornings eating breakfast on the balcony. It’s funny, we never do this home, but it is so nice when we are on vacation!

Pop Pop kept the kids entertained by showing them the mousecapers mowing the fairway and the ducks enjoying their morning toilette. BIL received 5, yes 5 – no exaggeration – calls while he was in the shower. And it was the kind of call, no answer, hang up as soon as the v/m hits, dial right back, repeat. My sister finally turned the sound off as it was annoying the heck out of her!

While Nonna lounged on the balcony enjoying her tea (decaf, please!) and oatmeal (yuck!), she made her first obligatory call to Mom Mom. “Yes, we had fun at the party.” “Of course we were tired.” “Lots of people? There are crowds, but manageable.” “BIL has been getting calls from work all morning.” “Mom, I don’t know why they are bothering him.” “Yes, I know he’s on vacation, but he’s also the manager.” “Everyone slept good.”

Whoa! Wait! Stop! “Everyone slept good?” Um, my calf is sore from the Charlie horse I woke up with this morning and I have a kink in my neck!” With that I call mousekeeping. They apologize and offer to bring another mattress I can place on top of the dead one today. I thanked them. Within 15 minutes, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find a mattress standing in the doorway! Actually, there was a mousekeeper behind the mattress but she was so tiny you couldn’t see her!

BIL is now back on the phone, hasn’t even eaten breakfast yet. I get dressed and begin to get the kids ready. Pop Pop is dressed, my sister is dressed and eating breakfast, Nonna is on the phone. DD is dressed and back outside with everyone, DS is getting dressed, BIL is now eating breakfast, and Nonna is on the phone. DS is ready, BIL is done eating, my sister is done eating, and Nonna is off the phone! She announces she has to take a shower! We all look at her and say, well go! It takes 35 minutes for the shower, then 10 to get dressed, 15 for makeup and 15 to blow dry her hair. DS falls asleep during this time, my diaper bag is packed with all my camera stuff and baby food. The pockets of the stroller hold the diapers, wipes, bibs, bottled water – easier to grab and go then pull out the bag!

Nonna emerges from her bedroom and begins her checklist. “Danielle (me), do you have ….?” “Yes. Yes. Yes. Mom, let’s go!” And with that we are finally out the door!

We decided that today would be an MGM, err DHS, day since we had ADR’s at 4:10 at Brown Derby with the Fantasmic Dinner Package. This would be the family’s first time eating here (myself excluded – I ate here in 2005 w/ Dining with an Imagineer). We only waited a few minutes for the bus to arrive, I believe a DTD/Typhoon Lagoon was the only bus to arrive prior. We start to get into the groove. DS is handed to my sister, DD to Nonna, I grab the diaper bag and frozen water bottles, place aside and anything else that is in the stroller basket, I begin to fold the stroller when Pop Pop takes over, pick everything up that I placed aside, BIL asks bus driver to open the back door, the bus driver is already on it since he sees Pop Pop picking up the stroller now, and on the bus we go! Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho!

Another 2 stops at OKW and picking up an additional couple of families we are off to DHS. The bus driver pulls up to the curb – not in the Disney bus stop circle – to let us off. My guess was that this was closer than his next scheduled stop. And we file out: Pop Pop out the back door with the stroller, opens it, I have all the bags, BIL, my sister with DS, and DD with Nonna. Onwards and upwards! We file through security. Side note: anyone ever notice that the female security guards check every nook and cranny of your bags/strollers while the men glance at it, usually spot some sort of feminine product and shoo you past quickly? Just an observation.

366233337_Hv5Zx-M.jpg

366247319_y7Sm5-M.jpg

Anyway, we snap some pics and head through the turnstiles. We couldn’t go very far as the HSM float was on its way out so Hollywood Blvd was semi-blocked. Nonna got a map and time schedule, BIL hit the restroom while he answered another phone call, Pop Pop with stroller was with Nonna and I snapped a few more pics.

We saw lots, I mean lots of cheerleaders headed towards their competitions. Cheerleaders from all over the world – Mexico, Brazil.

We head towards Little Mermaid and notice the arch – the MGM sign is gone (well, yeah I guess it would be, huh?).
366229360_iqW8q-M.jpg

366229579_FJ6fn-M.jpg

The next show is filling the holding area so we grab the kids, Pop Pop parks the stroller and we head in.

Unfortunately DD falls asleep while we are just entering the theater. I wasn’t sure if she would wake up during the show, but I knew we would come back. DS, on the other hand, was bright-eyed and bushy tailed! BIL received another call during the show (don’t worry – it was on vibrate!) DS loved watching the green laser beams and since we sat relatively close, he felt the mist from the rain.
366227045_UeAmx-M.jpg

DD never woke up!

Our next stop: lunch! We hit Backlot Express. It was empty, that is, when we first got there, but by the time we were finishing eating, the crowds were pouring in, as were some of the younger cheerleading groups. They must have already been done with their competition.

We strolled past Star Tours and the Jedi Training Academy was going on and continued to the Muppets!

DD was the keeper of the 3D glasses :3dglasses and it took a bit of persuasion for her to pass them out once we were seated. DS wore the glasses for a bit but DD kept pulling them off, opting to play with them and pull mine off as well. She became so upset when we had to put them back, so I told her that Mickey needed to use them and she bought it! Buzz and Woody were out so we went to say hello, but the queue was closed. We walked through the Muppet store and Nonna bought some items while I took pictures.

BIL, my sister, Pop Pop and the kids walked up to the front of Muppets again. When Nonna and I met up with them, DD had a surprise! A Donald Duck tattoo that my sister got her. She was very proud of her tattoo and no one could touch it!
373824162_bgqzo-M.jpg

BIL and my sister headed over to Sunset Blvd while my parents and I took DD and DS to find a spot for the Block Party Bash. Last year we missed the debut of this parade by a few weeks, so this was new for us. We had the first row, just left of the Superstar Theater. This wasn’t the best spot for us. We were in between the Monsters Inc and Incredibles floats. It was cute, but I, personally would prefer shorter party intervals so you were able to see more of the other floats. Maybe 2 floats stop at each spot; I felt that once the parade moved on, it rushed by so the Incredibles and Bug Life floats were here, oh wait there they go, ok it’s over. The kids seemed to enjoy it since there was lots of activity but I wouldn’t call this a favorite parade of mine. Of course, that didn't stop me from taking pictures!

Next, we perused the Sorcerer’s Hat store and DD made her first pin trade with Pop Pop’s help. It was a Donald Duck one! She was a tad shy at first, but looked over the pins and pointed to the one she wanted. Pop Pop took her over to another CM and she shook her head no after looking at her pins. We walked around Echo Lake and DD was fascinated with the leaves on the ground.

Now, I don't remember when we saw these street performers so I'm just going to place it here, but does this woman remind them of Izma (Emperor's New Groove) or am I the only one? You know scary beyond all reason. Great makeup job (I'm sure her face in 'real life' is much more attractive!)
366247049_rpkdz-M.jpg

DS went with Pop Pop to find some shade and they spotted my sister and BIL. We hung out and glanced in the shops for a bit until it was close to our ADRs. Of course we used the opportunity to call who? You guessed it! Mom Mom!
DS saying, "Hi!"

We cross the street and we’re there, park the stroller and check-in. We take the opportunity and hit the bathrooms.
366230211_ytsJe-M.jpg

DS is a bit cranky and I was hoping he would fall asleep since it was an hour early for his bottle and 2 ½ hours early for his scheduled dinner. Our table is ready, but not before BIL receives yet another phone call.
Here is DS pre-cranky at the table.

I ordered the market greens salad for an app, chicken for an entrée which I split w/ DD, and a chocolate dessert. My sister and Nonna shared the Cobb salad entrée, my sister also had the chicken and Nonna had the filet mignon. Pop Pop and BIL both ordered the lump crabcake app, BIL had the grouper and Pop Pop had the filet mignon. Crème Brulee and Chocolate cake were the desserts of choice for our table. I wish I tried the grapefruit cake; a woman at the next table got it and it looked very good. Next time! Poor DS was cranky so I took him out to the lobby and tried to bounce him to sleep. Pop Pop and my sister would come and relieve me so I could eat, then we would switch. By dessert, DS was asleep. I remembered to take a picture of one of the desserts!

DD enjoyed it!

Our server explains the Fantasmic tickets and tells us to arrive by 7:45 since they let the stand-by guests in at 8 for the 8:30 show. No problem. We have time and BIL and my sister have a FP for RNR so we stroll up Sunset Blvd. I love the villains shop, but lately it isn’t much of a villains shop any more.

I also buy DD a pair of earrings since we lost one of her hoops during the P&PP the night before. My only thought was that it got caught in the costume, but we never found it. With new Mickey earrings on, we continued our stroll towards RNR. I walked ahead with my sister and BIL to see how the standby line was. It was 70 minutes. Oh well, I wasn’t going on today. I walk around to take some pictures in the area as they go through FP.

As I’m taking pics, I notice my parents with the kids having their pictures taken by the Photopass photographer. See, here they are.

Hmph! I want a picture of me and the kids! I walk over there but she is taking someone else’s photos already. My parents response was “Oh we didn’t know if you wanted a picture.” OK!

Pop Pop stays outside with the kids and Nonna and I walk into the RNR gift shop.

I wanted to try to get a picture of BIL and my sister as the pulled into the exit. I didn’t. We waited for a long time (or what seemed to be a long time) and when I went over to my mom to tell her we needed to head over to Fantasmic soon, they were behind me.

We check-in at the Fantasmic :smickey: meeting point and are instructed where to go. We entered the theater at 7:25pm and they were already feeding the “stand by” crowd into the Fantasmic dinner show section. I was ticked since we were told that this isn’t opened up to them until 8 for the 8:30 show and we arrived 20 minutes before the recommended time, and 1hr. 5min before the show. Our seats were in the last section, so not very good and with waiting the hour, made the dinner package not quite worth it. We could have gotten online with everyone else and gotten better seats. Oh well. We’ve done the dinner package before but this was the first time we experienced the section being opened to the general crowd so early.

DS was mesmerized, but DD was petrified so I took her and was going to leave the theater, but she didn’t want me to leave. When I walked to the exit, she yelled, “No!” So I stood in the back and covered her ears, she closed her eyes. She made it through that way and was able to see and enjoy the steamboat and finale.
The only photos I got.

When the show was over, I hung back and let the crowds through. The rest of the group had the same idea so I met up with them and we exited the theater together. The stroller was waiting for us, but DD wanted to walk, wait push the stroller herself. You try explaining to a 1 ½ year old that there are too many people! :rolleyes2 That didn’t go over too well. DS was very happy to sit in the stroller and began to doze off! We leisurely made our way up Sunset and Hollywood Blvds and I kicked myself for yet again not bringing the tripod with me. :headache:

We had about a 5-10 minute wait at our bus stop. Only 3 families were waiting with us. Back at the room, BIL was on the phone with a manager from another store; he was also in WDW, but leaving the following day. He gave him the run down of what was happening at his store and the other manager said he would try to help out when he got back. I put DD in her nightgown and DS in his pj’s while my mom and dad put the new mattress on the pull out couch and remade the bed. DD quickly fell asleep with her milk and DS drank his bottle, cuddled and fell asleep in my arms while we chatted on the balcony of our room. Nonna took him to bed and said her goodnights, Pop Pop followed. BIL and my sister hit the sack as well. After a few quiet moments, I went in too, made sure the deadbolt was locked (it was), turned off the lights and flipped through the TV channels :happytv: . The new mattress was much better and I couldn’t tell you what I watched on TV; I fell asleep right away!

In the next installment … Day 3! Nemo, Beverly, The Ventures, and Boardwalk. Do BIL’s phone calls keep coming?

I am really enjoying the pictures and you are right...maybe she is Izma some of the time!!

Glad you are enjoying the report!

Working on the next installment! DD's bday part was Saturday so I'll have pics to post of her Minnie party too!

Great TR so far and loving all the pictures! Can't wait to read more. I just got back two days ago and I'm missing Disney terribly! :)
