How well do the 2-way radios work in the parks? Is there a lot of interference or rude people screaming while you try to talk on them.

We have never used them at Disney World...used them at Disneyland, Kings Island and Cedar Point. We have never had any problems with rude people or interference. We plan on using them when we go. They are great if the family wants to split up (an adult with each child)!

We used them last year and they worked reasonably well. Our DS (12 & 15) were off on their own ( Please don't tar & feather me anyone, I'm a liberal Mom!!) and they did work. Sometimes it was hard to find a channel that wasn't being used by anyone else!! I think you can get ones with subchannels or something. Anyway, if you think it's something for you, go for it!! There have been many posts about them. Did you try searching Disney with families forum??

Good luck!

we took the motorola 5 milers this last trip = they work sufficiently well - they have a two mile radius on some channels and a 5 mile radius on others - they also have a half watt power on the two mile channels and 1 watt power on the 65 mile channels - and they have over 30 subchannels or "codes" In all there are over 400 combinations of channels and code combinations - even at WDW they had little or no interference at the most crowded times of our trip from 8th to 15th of June.

These type of radios are limited however by surroundings. The 2 or 5 mile rating is only reached in optimal conditions - in my house they work up to a half mile away due to interference from powerlines and cell towers - in disneyworld I would have to say they maybe got a mile. So a great deal of will they work for you depends on proximity. I like them alright - they were of some help... but next time I think we will get two cellular phones on a national calling plan - its roughly 2 and a half times the cost of the motorola solution but I think it is worth it... if we can afford it when the time comes.

for example I could speak to my fiance from the 12th floor of the contemporary when she was at the pool - I could speak to her when they were in the exploration trail at AK and I was at the safari - but if I was at the contemporary and I wanted to reach her in MK to make sure I was picking up the stuff my daughter wanted that would not work (actually I did not try but I know it would not have worked as twice we were out of range of one another while both at the same park. I really want the latitude that if one of the grown-ups needs to head back to the resort for something that we will be able to communicate - we didn't need that flexibility on either more recent trip - but it would be nice
