2 way radio question and the size of the parks

I'm toying with the idea of getting a walkie-talkie or 2 way radio for my upcoming visit - does anyone have any experience using them?

Would a 2 way radio with a 2 mile range work in the parks? Or would one need one with a 5 mile range? What was your experience using one - helpful, not so useful or indispensible?

I thought they were useful. Mine had a two mile range and it was very helpful. Just know that there are several other walkies there to so there is a lot of traffic. Make sure to turn them off when you go in a show so they don't make noise. We would use them whenever we seperated. i did find them to be quite useful. Two mile range is more than enough.

Just back from WDW and we had the radios with the 2 mile range and they wroked fine. Also, we stayed at the Poly and we could talk from the Poly to the CR which came in handy because we had 2 DSs and one would stay in the room with one napping and the other would go to do things with the other son. Also, we had one theat had subchannels and we never heard anyone on our radios except us.
