Anyone out there with 2 different use "months"?? How difficult is it for you to manage? What do you like/dislike about it?

Do you currently have two use "months" or are you looking at the possibility of having two different use "months"?

We currently have 3 different Use Months (Feb, Mar, June) and have also had a 4th in the past.

The benefit of different months is when you are able to travel at different times of the year and can take advantage of the best month with regards to banking deadlines and possible cancellation.

The downside is that there is certainly additional "accounting" to track the use and maintenance of those different months. There are several good tracking programs available in addition to using the DVCmember site. Caskbill's DVC Tracker program, MouseManager and Bird's of Prey Dave's program all do a nice job assisting with this. I have also used a simple checkbook program (Microsoft Money, Quickbooks) to track each different membership as a separate account - where the start of each Use Year gets a "deposit" of points from DVC and each reservation made creates a "check" to pay using the points in the account.

In spite of multiple Use Years I've found the benefits far outweigh the additional effort required. :)

It depends on when you travel.

We have decided that we hate the warmer/humid months at WDW. We started with a April UY (big mistake) and now most of our contracts are October UY. Since we vacation November - April, Oct gives us plenty of time to bank our points should we have to cancel a trip.

You will read a lot of posts where the member states that they will never cancel their trip so UY doesn't matter. I am here to tell you that it does happen. Death in family, illness, work change, airline problems, we have had them all.

:) Bill

If you have two Use Years, you will have to have two separate master contracts. With two masters, the only way to combine points for the same reservation is to do a transfer. And you can only do one transfer per year.

Of course, this is only true if you need to combine points for a single night. If you want to book one night that costs 25 points using 10 from one contract and 15 from another, you have to transfer.

On the other hand, if you are able book whole nights with each individual contract, the separate reservations can then be linked without need for any transfers.

I have 2 contracts at Wilderness Lodge, one for Dec and one for Feb. I would advise against it, but that is only my opinion. I will sell one and probally buy at BC
