2 twins or 1 queen?

We are getting a seperate room for our two teen DDs. I have read that the rooms come with either 2 twins or 1 queen. Can the beds be seperated, or do you need to request which configuration you would like? My girls would prefer the two twins over the queen.

Can someone explain this bed situation to me?

The bed can be separated into two twins. Just let them know that is what they would want. I believe you can put that as a request on your reservation, but if they miss it the stewards can quickly change it.

If you (or your TA) notifies DCL ahead of time, the beds will be separated when you board. If not, notify your room steward, and it will be done before bedtime on the first night.

They are only two twin beds pushed together with a lump in the middle anyway so its not much to seperate them even if they are not seperated when you get onboard. After sleeping with the l annoying lump in the middle for 2 nights we had them seperate the beds and it was much more comfortable that way.

I guess it all depends on how folks share the bed but DH and I didn't notice any problem with a "lump" in the middle. In Mom and Aunt's cabin the bed was a queen so we requested their room steward to split them and it was done by the time we got back from dinner.

You know, for 11 cruises, I didn't know what people were talking about with the "lump" in the bed. Then, on number 12, I think I got the cabin that all the bad news came from....the lump in the middle of the bed, the beverage cooler that wasn't very cool, etc.

My understanding is that if the thing they put in when they join the beds is correctly installed, you shouldn't feel it. Sometimes, it is not properly installed, and that's how you get the lump.

Still, for your teens...just let them know and you will have twin beds.

I've also heard "rare" reports of stewards who were reluctant to separate the bed and tried to convince the occupants to let them make up the couch. I doubt this happens much, but I'm sure if you stick to your guns they'll do it! After all, it only has to be done once......

Absolutely. Better to have them in separate beds than have them drawing a line down the middle and daring the other one to put a toe over it like I did on car trips with my brother when I was a kid.

Just be aware....they are narrower than a regular twin bed. Two 'real' twins pushed together = a king bed. Somewhere around here is a posted picture. I'll hunt it down for you......back in a few.....

On all 3 cruises we had the lump in the bed...it drove me nuts...on one of the cruises my daughter kept trying to shove me in the middle because the lump was keeping her awake!

Here you go....I think it can be arranged with both nightstands in the middle if you want more separation.
