Yesterday I booked a MYW package at Pop by calling the Disney number. I was on the phone 48 minutes and the CM was NOT very knowledgable (though she was very nice.) Anyway, my son is currently 2 but will turn 3 before our January trip. I told her this THREE times and she entered his birth date into the computer (11/8/02) and the computer kept giving the same total price. I'm almost positive we're not being charged for his ticket because I tried to book online and the total was a ~$200 more for the exact same package. I asked over and over if we were going to get stuck paying extra $$$ once we get there and she assured me over and over that his birthday was in the computer so the price I was being charged was correct.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Susy

I would call and double check. I have always booked our trips to check in right before our son's birthday and it has never gotten messed up. But for your piece of mind, I would call again.

It was my understanding that if your dc had their third birthday that fell during the trip that they would not be charged admission for the remainder of their stay after the date of their birthday. The same goes for their 11th birthday when the price increases. That was just my understanding - you may want to call and verify just for your peace of mind. :)

I would think that the computer is thinking that your trip is happening right now... So the date (his birthday)has not approached. I would personally call after your DS has had his birthday to see if the price increases. As the date has passed and most likey '"kicked in" if you know what I mean..

I would not be happy if my price was raised when I showed up for the trip. And I could have paid it in advance. Or you could call back and talk with some one else to see if they might be able to help you better. Or even understand where you are coming from..

HTH!

Since you know you should be paying, why not put the money away now. Don't say anything and see what happens. If you get charged, you have the money. If you don't, extra spending money.

That's what I was thinking. :goodvibes

Great idea about putting the money aside and waiting. I was so stressed about the whole booking and the complete ignorance of the CM that I wasn't thinking clearly. I just can't stand the thought of another loooong phone call to try to clear up the situation and probably STILL being unsure of what's going on...

She put me on hold for 5 minutes while she checked if I could get Magical Express from Orlando Sanford Airport. I KNEW I couldn't! She then told me I should call asap for ADRs because with the new 90 + 10 I needed to call 100 days in advance. I had assumed CORRECTLY that the new plan meant you could call one time for ADRs for your entire trip but I wasted time trying to call anyway.

Sorry about the rant and thanks for the replies. I made my two character meal ADRs and a Family Magic Tour res today (all with my son listed as 3) and am looking forward to another fantastic trip!

Basically, it seems that most service industries today do not empower the employees to make changes in the computer system. If the computer can't recognize the age of the child at time of travel, the reservation person can't change it. This should work to your benefit, but like you said, at the last minute someone will probably figure it out or the computer will update and hit you with a charge.

A good example of computer problems I ran into recently... A local sandwich shop offered a "ham, salami, and cheese" sub, but did not have a "salami and cheese" sub. When I ordered a salami and cheese, the counter person stated, "Sorry, we don't have that". I said, can you just make it without the ham? He replied "I don't have a button for that on the register"
Can you believe that. Luckily, I was able to tell the person making the sub not to put any ham on it :)
